The Perils Facing the Evangelical Church
By Dr. R.C. Sproul

When we consider the predicament that the evangelical church of the twenty-first century faces in America, the first thing we need to understand is the very designation “evangelical church” is itself a redundancy. If a church is not evangelical, it is not an authentic church. The redundancy is similar to the language that we hear by which people are described as “born-again Christians.” If a person is born again of the Spirit of God, that person is, to be sure, a Christian. If a person is not regenerated by the Holy Spirit, he may profess to be a Christian, but he is not an authentic Christian. There are many groups that claim to be churches that long ago repudiated the evangel, that is, the gospel. Without the gospel, a gathering of people, though they claim otherwise, cannot be an authentic church.

In the sixteenth century, the term evangelical came into prominence as a description of the Protestant church. In many cases, the terms evangelical and Protestant were used interchangeably. Today, that synonymous use of the adjectives no longer functions with any accuracy. Historic Protestants have forgotten what they were protesting in the sixteenth century. The central protest of the Reformation church was the protest against the eclipse of the gospel that had taken place in the medieval church.

When we turn our attention to the first century, to the churches about which we learn from the biblical record, we know that all of the churches addressed in the New Testament, including the churches in Ephesus, Corinth, Thessalonica, and the seven churches of Revelation, were evangelical churches. They all embraced the biblical gospel. Yet at the same time, these churches were different in their strengths, in their weaknesses, and in their compositions. An evangelical church is not necessarily a monolithic community. There may be unity among evangelical churches but not necessarily uniformity. The distinctions of the seven churches of Revelation are set forth clearly in that book. They manifest different greatnesses and frailties, but they all faced perils. Each confronted the dangers that assaulted the church in the first century. They faced hazards of varying proportions, but there was a common threat to the health of the New Testament church from many sides. Those dangers manifested in the first century are repeated in every age of the church. They certainly loom large at our time in the early years of the twenty-first century.

Among what I see as the three most critical perils the church faces today are, first of all, the loss of biblical truth. When the truth of the gospel is compromised or negotiated, the church ceases to be evangelical. We live in a time of crisis with respect to truth, where many churches see doctrine merely as something that divides. Therefore, they stress relationships over truth. That is a false distinction, as a commitment to truth is a commitment that should manifest itself in vital, living relationships. Relationships can never be a substitute for embracing the truth of God. So the either/or fallacy of doctrine or relationship cannot be maintained under careful biblical scrutiny.

A second widespread peril to the church today is the loss of any sense of discipline. When the church fails to discipline its members for gross and heinous sins, particularly sins of a public nature, that community becomes infected with the immorality of the secular culture. This occurs when the church so desperately wants to be accepted by the pagan culture that it adopts the very morality of the pagan community and imitates it, baptizing it with religious language.

The third crucial peril facing the church today is the loss of faithful worship. There are different styles of worship that can be pleasing to God. However, all worship that is pleasing to God is worship grounded in Spirit and in truth. We can have lively worship, manifesting great interest and excitement, with doctrine and truth eliminated. On the other hand, we can have what some call a dead orthodoxy, where the creedal truths of the historic Christian faith remain central to the worship of the church, but the worship itself does not flow from the heart and lacks spiritual vitality.

Another element that threatens the evangelical church is the ongoing erosion of evangelical faith by the impact of liberal theology. Liberal theology saw its heyday in the nineteenth century and raised its head again with the neo-liberalism that captured the mainline churches of the twentieth century. Yet it is by no means dead. Perhaps the place where liberalism is manifesting itself most dangerously is within the walls of churches that have historically been strongly evangelical. David F. Wells describes the crisis of the twenty-first century church as “vacuous worship.” A vacuous worship is one that is empty of content. It is satisfied with platitudes, pop psychology, and entertainment. Such worship is devoid of the Word of God and of the authentic sacrifice of praise.

Dr. James Montgomery Boice, before his death, lamented his concern that the church was being enticed “to do the Lord’s work in the world’s way.” We try to transfer principles of success drawn from Madison Avenue and from other secular institutions and imitate them in the life of the church. Such a process is deadly.

In every generation, including our own, the same perils to the spiritual strength that Jesus rebuked in the seven churches of Revelation threaten us anew. These include such things as a lack of love, a lack of truth, a compromising spirit with the world, a lukewarm devotion, and a double-minded conviction, to name but a few. There were rebukes and encouragements given to these churches by our Lord that every church in every age must take seriously, examining ourselves to make sure that we are not manifesting the same departures from biblical truths that these churches were. We must be vigilant and diligent if we are to maintain a godly witness in our day.

The Force Within
Topic: Star Wars
The Force Within

Star Wars is more than just a movie it goes much deeper than people realize. It is a story of hope and yes, Christian's can get something out of this movie too. click on the Force within and read.

Are You a good person ?

“It’s very dangerous putting them together,” warns Jedi master Mace Windu. “I don’t think the boy can handle it.”

On those words turns the Star Wars epic, Revenge of the Sith. In fact, the rescued chancellor, Palpatine, does use his powers of the Sith to seduce young Anakin into joining the dark side of the Force. In exchange for his loyalty to the man who would become Emperor, Anakin Skywalker becomes Darth Vader, Dark Lord of the Force and commander of the Empire’s forces.

Anakin’s descent into evil is emotional; who likes to see a really good guy seduced into becoming really bad? But perhaps we see something of ourselves in Anakin. Our good intentions often give way to selfishness. Our resolutions to improve lose their meaning within days. Our desire to get ahead pushes more deserving people toward the back.

A force within tempts us with promises of fulfillment and personal powers. “Make your own truth,” it says. “Do whatever you like; the outcome will outweigh any negative consequences.” It is dangerously seductive, and we consistently fall to its persuasive power.

Consequences Beyond Expectation
A long time ago in the galaxy we live in, a seductive promise entrapped Adam and Eve. As God’s first human creations and his personal friends, they had every prospect of greatness. But that model for Siths—Satan—seduced them into believing that there was more to be gained in coming over to his side.

But his side had dark consequences. Adam and Eve’s choice violently affected their lives—expulsion from their perfect setting, eventual physical death, and spiritual separation from God. It has since affected every man and woman who has ever lived. The Bible, God’s guidebook for mankind, says, “Sin came into the world through one man [Adam], and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned” (Romans 5:12).

Sin works from within each of us. It’s the dominating inner force that wants to have its own way every day. That’s what makes sin such a seductive, powerful enemy of our spiritual well-being. Yet if people don’t seek the only remedy for this evil, they will be separated from God forever. “Whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God” (John 3:18).

Conquering the “Force” Within
Like Anakin, we’re seriously outmatched. We’re helpless to overcome this inner enemy and repay God for the damages our sins have caused. But God not only lives in light; he sent his Son, Jesus Christ, to bring spiritual light into this spiritually dark, sin-dominated world.

Jesus stood in for us all when he died on the cross, taking on himself the cumulative consequences of the sins of every person who will ever live. “Christ . . . suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God” (1 Peter 3:18). Because he is God, became man, and lived a perfect life, Christ had the credentials to take the death penalty that we all deserve. He substituted himself for us so that the penalty of sin could be paid, the power of sin over us could be broken, and we could experience God’s forgiveness and favor.

Dying doesn’t seem like a good way to conquer anything, but Jesus didn’t stay dead. The Bible explains “that Christ died for our sins . . . that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures” 1 Corinthians 15:3-4). Christ’s resurrection proved his satisfactory payment had conquered the effects of sin’s most dreaded consequence—death.

As the consequence of sin, we have only endless punishment and separation from God ahead. But Jesus offers forgiveness, eternal life, and a place in God’s family with the power to actually withstand the cunning of sin inside us and the temptations around us.

An offer from the Lord of Light
Do you regret willingly living under sin’s control? Do you believe Jesus died to take the punishment your sins deserve? Do you want to end your rebellion and come to God on his terms to be forgiven of your sins?

If your heart’s true response to those questions is “Yes!” then God wants to give you a new, everlasting life. The Bible says that “God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16, emphasis added).

If you have placed your faith in Jesus’ death and resurrection alone for eternal life, you have good reason to celebrate. You have been forgiven and brought into the family of God. Christ promises new resources to fight sin’s influence, beginning now. If God cared enough to send his Son to die for you, he cares enough to help you overcome the power of sin in your life!

Why not take a moment to talk with God in words like this: “God, I know that I have sinned, and I believe that Jesus died in my place and rose again so my sins could be forgiven. Thank you for loving me like you do. Help me to love you and learn to live in a way that pleases you.”

Pro-family groups warned that if homosexuals were allowed to marry that every other deviant, wingnut and moral anarchist in town would demand the right to marry whomever or whatever they choose as well. There is no legitimate legal reason not to afford people the right to marry in any number of creative arrangements if men can marry men, and women and marry women. Well, in Canada, the polygamists are now wanting to be legal, citing gay marriage as their justification. If God’s definition of marriage has been thrown out, why in the world not? People will soon be lining up for marriage licenses at city hall with toasters of which they are particularly fond, stuffed animals, pet boa constrictors, hamsters, or their entire bowling team. One thing is for certain—the burgeoning wedding industry will help the Western economy get back on track. The possibilities are endless. “Yes, sir, we do have a veil just the right size for that Indian elephant of yours. Step over here and I’ll show you something charming in ecru lace…”

NOTE From Evangelist Chip:

The Church can not remain silent are neutral in the Culture Wars. When we allow Our Government rather it be local, State or Federal to Change Marriage, and allow Same-Sex marriages to co-exist then the diffinition is changed and like the News Article above it goes Wild after that. The Same argument they use for same-sex can now apply to other marriages and unions to be recognized.
Times are changing it is because the World doesn't see the Bible as a Set Standard because they believe it should be progressive and change with the times. The Bible doesn't do that. God's Word is forever settled in Heaven, it will not pass away, not even one jot or title. When a Nation Continues to reject God and His Word it becomes a Nation of Fools.

We will accept anything as acceptable lifestyle. Marry who you want. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg when she worked with the ACLU as a Lawyer she wrote an Article saying that we needed to lower the age of consent (for sex) to 12 years old.

Judgment will come to the Church House first. When Christians will vote for  Candidates who are Pro-Choice, for Same-Sex Marriage or Unions, we are in trouble. What does this really mean. I believe 98 per cent of those who claim to be Christian are ignorant and don't know the Word of God, cause if they did, they would not vote the way they do. They rather are ignorant of God's Word or they are not a Christian but a Liberal in Sheeps clothing. We have to many false converts in the Church. We need to start Preaching the message of the Kingdom which is Repentence. Without Repentence their is no remissions of sins.

Friends it will get a lot worse you can count on that. We are seeing the signs of the times.

I want to caution Pastors here, you are doing your congregation a grave disservice if you are not teaching Biblical Principles. To have a Biblical Worldview in every area of our lives begins with the Word of God and then obey.  God does not condone what He condemns so you need to start teaching them about Life. We Christian should be pro-life and that means we can't vote for those who oppose the Bible in this area.

The Bible Condemns Homosexuality/Lesbians so we can not support those that would say other wise.
I know some will disagree with me here and the problem isn't with me but with God's Holy Word. You rather obey the clear teaching or you are in rebellion against all mighty God.

God hates sin and punishes the sinner.........

Get your teaching or Preaching lined up with the Word of God because it TRUMPS your opinion, your liberal interpretation, your political party, your skin color, your Church and traditions.

May God get all the Praise and Glory.........

The Incarnation Celebration

In the Middle Eastern land many years ago, where a beautiful river branched out to form four other rivers, there was a pristine garden. Lush tropical trees and plants grew delicious fruit of every taste and texture. A paradise of grasses and flowers under a canopy of clouds and sky painted a breathtaking canvas. Musical birds and sparkling waterfalls produced a sound track of sheer delight. It was perfection itself, the Garden of Eden, where the first man and the first woman lived in perfect harmony with each other and with their Creator, the trinity of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

From the first moments of their existence, this first couple, Adam and Eve enjoyed a close relationship with their Creator. They talked to him just as they talked to each other. They walked with Him Him in the Garden. They laughed together, sharing delights of Paradise, reveling in the gazelle's grace, the eagle's soaring strength, the sparrow's playfulness.

They communed with God as a dear Friend and loving Father, for they were a family. And through this relationship they had everything they needed. They had love because their love came from God. They had joy because their joy came from God. They had peace because it came from God. There was no hunger, greed, fear, or pain because God's holy presence was felt all throughout the wonderful garden.

And God told Adam and Eve that the world was theirs to keep and that they were to fill it with a human family of their own. For the God of love, their Father, wanted to shower his love on even more children and enjoy their company. He wanted them to know Him as their God and to love Him as their Father.

But Then.............

something terrible happened. A rebellious angel named Lucifer plotted in hatred to ruin the perfect family and world God had created. Lucifer, who had been cast out of heaven because he wanted to rule his own kingdom without God, persuaded the first human couple that they, too, should rule their own world without God. So he deceived them into believing that they knew better than God. He convinced them to selfishly and sinfully choose their own ways rather than trusting in God's ways. He persuaded them to eat the fruit God had forbidden them to eat. And so they sinned. And their sin brought about a devastating effect on them........and on the world around them.

Adam and Eve's sinful choice to reject God and His ways fromed a dreadful wall-a wall of death-that seperated them from their loving Creator and Father God. Gone were their shared moments of intimacy and happiness. Gone were the trills of laughter they enjoyed together. Gone was their close relationship.

From that point on, God watched in grief and sadness as children, his children came into the world He created without knowing Him and feeling His love. He watched them every moment of the day, but they could not feel His interests. He saw them follow the sinful path of Adam and Eve that would keep every child, teenager, and adult from knowing and feeling His love.

The perfect and holy Creator, who knew no sin, watched as his children seperated from His very Presence. They were now disconnected from the only source that could sustain life and love and joy and peace. He watched as his children had to suffer the agony of war and hunger, disease and heartache, which would last forever and ever. The sin seperated God from the cherished family He had created, and it broke His heart. And at that moment when his heart broke for His children, He already knew before the foundations of the world how He would respond.

Can you see my friends how fervently your heavenly Father loves you and what lengths He had gone to in order to show His love. Can you see the depth and breadth of the love of Christ.

God wanted so much to reconnect to His children and restore a relationship with Him, with you-but God, being Holy, could not relate to sin. So he devised a plan. He sent His Son into the world to become one of us, a child Himself, a human baby, for Y-O-U. He who was God came to earth- in a virgin's womb, as the prophets foretold, as the shepherds learned to cancel the curse so you could know, so you could feel his love for YOU.

The sin of the first couple and YOUR Sin caused death, and the prince of darkness, Satan himself, held the power of death over you. And there was only one thing that could cancel the curse of sin: A sinless human had to be willing to sacrifice himself for YOU. So God's Son, perfect and sinless in every way, became Human.
As the Bible records, 'Only as a human being could He die, and only by dying could He break the power of the Devil, who had the power of death(Hebrews 2:14)

He did it all for YOU........

Though you sinned against Him, He loved you and that is the meaning of the incarnation(God becoming a man, Jesus Christ).

And that kind of relationship is available to anyone who responds to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It is not the end but the beginning, if you repent and put your trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

How do you have a relationship like that go here.

I want to thank Josh Mcdowell and Bob Hostetler for their book "Beyond Belief to Convictions" it is were, I got what I posted here. They have a lot of Evidence for the birth of Christ and much more.

How do we know that the Jesus in the manger is the Son of God?

There are a number of ways we can be sure Jesus was truly the Son of God. For example, more than four hundred years before His Jesus was born, prophets foretold just where Christ would be born, where He would grow up, , what He would be like, very specific things He would do, How people would respond to Him, what they would do to Him.
More than 60 prophecies were fulfilled perfectly in Christ, and that enables us to be confident that Jesus born of the Virgin Mary in a stable in Bethlehem was in fact the Son of the one true God!

Have a Merry Christmas. Jesus is Lord! King of King and Lord of Lords! HOLY, HOLY, HOLY

We will always teach Truth. Jesus said "I am the Way, the Life and the Truth" He said that "Thy Word is Truth" and we at Full Christ Fellowship will Preach Jesus and His Word.

Join us on Saturday's, we carry the Cross Downtown Russellville, Alabama @ 11am. We give Him all the Glory and Praise. The Message of the Cross is clear. The Gospel:

1 Cor 15:1-5:

1Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;

2By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.

 3For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

4And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

5And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve:
