Sorts has released two different cover versions of "Half a Person" by The Smiths.
Vocals of the second version belong to Pille Rand from Estonian death-trash metal band Human Ground.
Both of the cover versions are available only on Sorts official myspace account.

May 15 has been marked down to my calendar, as exactly on that date Sorts should release its new EP "Made in Nightonia". Four brand new so-called old school tracks -  1. The Wave of Fear, 2. Trumpets of Madness, 3. You Cunt, 4. Barbwire Superstar. Let's say that I have not yet received a complete record, but Gates sent me a non-official mp-3 version and for now, this material is enough for mouthwatering experience and then some. The release is exactly what I dared to hope and expect for - just enough primitive, robust, sharp, fast and furious. All in all, the purest black metal and that in its best sense. Actually it is not possible to expect shit from such an honourable and experienced company (Ank, Gates, Mantas ja Thon). :D

The only thing that surprised me a bit was that Ank is singing in English. I do not know exactly why, but I was hoping for Estonian. But at the same time there is no reason to be surprised, as the nine-year old demo “Demons On The Ride” is also in pure and true internationally recognised language. And perhaps the foreign language can also be justified in the background of the fact that the EP in question is released under the sign of yankee label Regimental Records.

I am mainly pleased about the circumstance that a primitive and raw black is now again in the picture also here in Estonia and the release will definitely become an efficient counterattack to the rebirth of Beherit - our Northern neighbours. Two newest tracks are also available for listening on the internet:

I would not dare to give this release maximum points though, as according to some sources the foursome is currently working on a full-length, and should this turn out even better than the one in question - what do I do then?! :D

Band comment: May 15 is not correct date, no dates have been set yet!!!

Sorts was kicked off more as a project than a fullblooded band in 1998 by Gates, a member of the first Estonian black metal act - The Grey Calamity. Later, Gates became known as, now already a former, guitar player of Loits and Manatark.

After writing some tracks, Sorts formed a live group that, over the years, consisted of numerous members from Estonian black metal scene's core bands like Tharaphita, Manatark, Loits, Must Missa, Urt, Realm of Carnivora, etc. Regrettably due to lack of time the band never had a chance to step on stage.

Sorts managed to launch a cd single named "Demons on the Ride" in 2000. The same track was also included in the compilation "Estnische Kriegskameraden" in 2004.

In the end of 2008 Sorts gathered again in full cast with an ambitious plan to make a striking comeback. The band consists of four original members: Ank (Tharaphita, Must Missa), Mantas (ex-Loits), Thon (Urt, Sõjaruun) and Gates.

Sorts has finished its debut EP "Made in Nightonia", which will be released by US label Regimental Records in summer of 2009.

Today the band is busy working on its first LP. Sorts is also putting the final polishes on their cover versions of Bathory and The Smiths. So all the 7 inch companies and other interested parties, you are more than welcome to make use of our creation!

Sorts has a brand new logo. With the new era, it was time to change the logo into something that would reflect the band's new coming and that would also be more comprehensible (read: easily readable :-) )

Sorts is back at the studio recording its fresh EP. The EP consists of four new tracks with working titles such as The Wave of Fear, Trumpets of Madness, You Cunt and Barbwire Superstar. The sound of Sorts is pure old-school: darkthone-ish black metal with a twist.

Sorts is also recording a cover of Bathory's "Baptized in Fire and Ice" from the classic masterpiece album Hammerheart.
