I have posted another song from the album I am currently construsting. This one is called "The Things I Hold So Dear." I had recorded it once and was not happy with the results so I brought up the tempo and dropped it a key. Plus I am always making significant drum improvements and wanted to recaptured a new drum track for it. Hope you enjoy, whoever you are!

As I was driving back to NY from Cali, this song just popped into my head, which is unusual because I usually fiddle with the guitar or piano and find some catchy diddy to base songs around. I had originally intended for it to be on This is California but couldn't get it done until now. Enjoy!
Once again, big shout out to Paul Salamone (best drum teacher in the Capital District) for the drum lessons and letting me rob all his beats and fills!

I have just posted Paul Salamone's first single "Blue Suede Shoes" which I produced, engineered, mixed, mastered and sang backup for Jay Knack Records. Aegis Bonesteel (Aegis Bonesteel Experiment) is playing guitar. Vincent Lane (reaLation/The Fizziks) is playing bass. We simulated a live setting to capture the 50's sound and I dusted off the old school mixing effects to capture the sound. Paul is the extremely talented drummer that I have been working with for the last 10 years. I am proud and honored to be a part of this song and the album we are working on. We hope to be done by late spring. Thanks, Joe

Joe Nacco releases There is a Girl!!! The song was written, produced and performed by Joe Nacco in its entirety. The experimental single is a journey into a new and refined style of recording coined by Joe Nacco as "modular recording." It is so unique in its nature we have dedicated an entire webpage to the song and its production. As always, the people on this list are entitled to the FREE download of the single. Follow this link to find out what everyone is talking about. -statement from Jay Knack Records Song also posted on Myspace profile.

My record label, Jay Knack Records, has signed drummer/singer/songwriter Paul Salamone and I will be producing the first record. We begin the first song this weekend. It will be a mixture of instrumentals, covers and songs written by sir Paul himself. We hope to be done in time for summer promotions!
Also, I will be auditioning later in the month to play drums for a band from Albany, NY called Atomic Johnson. Playing drums has been a long time passion of mine and I am thrilled to meet the guys and see if we get a match.
Any noteworthy updates will be posted!

Current mood: crazy

I have just completed a very special song using a special style of recording called 'modular recording.' It is an incredibly challenging style of recording. I've essentially recorded four pieces of music reflecting four different styles of music based on the same theme, and glued them together to make one 3 minute 'pop symphony.' This allows for better movements and textures. It also allows your music to go places it normally couldn't. If done properly you have a masterpiece (i.e. Good Vibrations, A Day in the Life). If not, you are sitting a piles of tapes losing your mind (i.e. SMiLE). Figures such as Brian Wilson and The Beatles used this style due to recording limitatons which is now a thing of the past. However, when recording all the instruments yourself, a similar limitation exists.
Usually I finish a song in a week or less, but due to this process it has taken a little over a month and cost most my free time. I have previously made several attempts to do this and always scrapped it. The song never came out right and seemed messy. This was most likely due to forcing the process. During the writing phase of "There is a Girl" I realized modular recording would be required to get to the finish line. When it seemed to be actually coming together, I started obsessing like a madscientist locked in my studio making sure every part was played and sung perfectly and had the right effects in all the right places.
I think the results are great and I'm very proud of the song. Hopefully this song will be the cornerstone of a beautiful album for 2009.

Hello everyone! This is long, but should make for a fun read. Please repost this bulletin like a chain letter or you will lose your toenail in the next 7 days...
This is California and No One likes a Ballad are available NOW at CDBaby.com and iTunes!!
I've released a few CDs in my days, but I've never been so excited as I have with these! They are just fantastic albums! All the hard work has really paid off! We met the May 1st release date. It was very challenging for an unknown indie-label (hope y'all didn't forget Jay Knack Records) to set a release date and be able to follow through with it. Especially with 2 CDs. A lot of things had to really fall in place with no snags. Apparently, someone above may be sprinkling a little good luck my way!!!
Since 80% of my sales over the years have come from iTunes, I decided to go with it and really market these albums with iTunes in mind. If everyone on this list and my MySpace list, buys a song, an album or both through iTunes, we can easily chart and that would really help launch these records and the label!! So, I very humbley ask you to take your iPod, go to iTunes and load it up with some new Joe Nacco tracks. At 99 cents a song, YOU CAN"T AFFORD NOT TO!! At $9.99 an album, YOU CAN'T AFFORD NOT TO!!

Two new official videos released!!
More hard work paid off! We really wanted to step it up and with the craze of YouTube, we thought this would be a good idea. A lot of people pulled together and gave up their weekend to make this happen and I thank them all from the bottom of my heart!!! I also got real lucky with the editing tools on my computer because I came real close to hitting some serious snags! I just want to giddly say that releasing 2 albums with 2 videos of the singles off each album is super exciting!!!
Video 1
Who You Once Were from This is California.
This is my favorite song I've ever done. We shot this on Saturday in New York City. It took 8 hours a lot of hustling to get all the shots we did. We went from Brooklyn to battery park, to the seaport, to wall street, central park, times square, grand central station, and Yankees Stadium. This video was posted earlier today and is being viewed a lot on YouTube. With no announcement it got 200 views in the 1st three hours and the count keeps going. Please have a look!
Video 2
Faker from No One Likes a Ballad
Featuring the all-new Joe Nacco Band (more on that further down). I'll always have a soft spot for this song. It's obnoxious, immature and continues to chart on internet radio and place in contests. It is still 1 on Broadjam.com. The success and reviews I received prompted me to get up and release these albums. We shot this Sunday in Paul's living room and went with a performance-based video. To show how good these guys are in the band, we just just played it straight and it synched up perfect. Especially during the break/scream.
Both of these videos are also posted on my profile, along with more live performances.
The all-new Joe Nacco Band unveiled!!
Speaking of the Joe Nacco Band, every year there's a new one!! This year is no different. These guys are all close personal friends of mine that help me out with my few random performances I like to put on. Usually in support of whatever album I have out. They are playing in the "Faker" video. They are all in other really good bands. They all play at a very high, professional level. I am honored to play with them!! Please check them out! This year's lineup is...
Joe Nacco (vocals & rhythm guitar)
Y'all know me..
Paul Salamone (drums)
Y'all know Paul. It's been 9 years. I always dubbed him the best drummer in the Capital District. Well folks, he got even better in the last year!!
Vincent Lane (bass)
Vince plays in the Fizziks and reaLation. I've never seen anyone keep a groove and really tie a band together like this guy! Check out his stuff here The Fizzik's MySpace Profile
Aegis Bonesteel (lead guitar)
He plays in Moonshadow. Amazing! Check out his work on the Zeppelin covers on this page. Check out Pauls too! Moonshadow's MySpace Profile
See our lovely new promo pictures here, along with a tribute to Bud!
