HEY ALL!

Hope this finds you well and in great spirits. First of all I would like to acknowledge the recent passings of some very important & crucial people...Civil rights pioneer, Coretta Scott King (wife of Dr. Martin Luther King) producer extraordaire, J-Dilla (aka Jay Dee) known from Slum Village, Salsa legend, Ray Baretto, and actor/skater Harold Hunter (Kids, Zoo York).

I never met Mrs. King, Mr. Baretto, or Jay-Dee, however I truly respect their work and struggle.  I did meet Harold Hunter once, and every now and again, I would run into him a few times out and about on the party scene. He was a genuine brotha that loved to have fun. If you've never seen the movie "Kids" you need to rent the DVD. "Kids" was one of the THE most realest and honest films about today's youth that I've ever seen. The movie also stars Chloe Sevigny and Rosario Dawson and Harold was truly unforgettable in the film. My deepest sympathies goes out to Harold's family, as well as the families of Jay-Dee, Ray Baretto, and the great Mrs. Coretta Scott King for their loss.

Thanks to everyone that came out to Moe's in Brooklyn last Saturday for a spectacular evening!! Extra special thanks to: Niki, Yaidanyah (Kara) & Barak, Bobby & Viktoryia (Bar Below), Eddie Saenz,  Kufere, Juanita, Livingroom Johnston, and many many more heads (I apologize if I left your name out). Moe's is always guaranteed a great time and I look forward to coming back again.

Well it's been a hot minute since I posted a blog (what can I say I'm a lazy chap at times) however, I definitely need to post some photos from my last Cincinnati trip.

For those of you that have been keeping abreast of my DJ travels, this would be my THIRD time spinning at one of Cincinnati's hottest nitespots...Beluga Sushi. This particular time I spun for a Pre-Valentine's day PLUS a special birthday celebration for one of my coolest Myspacers, Elisha (Shortcake)...you can check her out in my top 8. Elisha is a real sweetheart and a hottie to boot (sorry ya'll she's taken...shout to Aaron! Bo! Bo! Bo!)

Saturday Feb 11th

It just so happens that while I was headed to Cincy, New York was bracing for one of the biggest snowstorms ever! (27 inches). I found out about this at LaGuardia Airport as the ticket agent notified me that my next day flight was canceled due to the storm. I'm like...great..I'll be in Cincinnati an extra day.  Didn't know how I felt about that....I mean other than Beluga, I didn't know what else would be poppin' in the Nasty Nati. Oh well....I boarded my flight and in no time I was airborne and headed to my destination.

Once I arrived in Cincy, I headed to my hotel, Hilton Netherlands Plaza...(MUCH better than my two previous stays at the wack-ass Terrace)... and scored some Mediterranean food. I relaxed a bit then got up to shower and called my trusty West Indian driver, Balla to transport me to Beluga. It was good to see Balla again..great guy..we cracked jokes as we headed to spot.

It began to snow (pretty hard but it didn't stick) as I arrived at Beluga. Once inside, I was greeted by the great staff including the crazy-cool, owner, Mike Hama...that guy knows how to party and run his business at the same time!  Mike was spinning House music CDs for the dinner & cocktail early-bird patrons and the place felt cool and right. Beluga is a great spot complete with tasty food & beautiful people...I sat down and threw back a few cocktails and peeped the vibe. So far I've been getting great feedback everytime I played there. As the night progressed, Mike asked me to take over and I began my initial DJ set on CDs. Normally I'm not a typical CD DJ, however, I pulled out my CD stash and threw down some Rock, Afrobeat, 80's, and Hiphop to warm up the cocktail crowd. Call it "foreplay" if you wil...LOL...

As I'm spinning...more and more heads began to show and the crowd began to take shape. Elisha (Shortcake) and her crew came in...Shout out to Aaron, Jordan, Rob, Nicci, Justin, Brad, Nick, Brandi, and many many more! Also shout to Jessica Cappeo & her girls for the great vibes as well. The night was truly amazing as we took the party to the back main room and I rocked it until 2am! Afterwards, we all went to After hours at Jordan & Rob's until 6am! (Didn't get to do that the previous 2 times! hahahaha)...

I am pleased to announce that I have a brand new mix CD hitting the streets for R&B songstress, Meli'sa Morgan. For those of you that don't even have a clue as to who she is, she released numerous memorable classics (Fool's Paradise, Do Me Baby, and Love Changes (featuring Kashif).

Meli'sa's new album is titled, "I Remember" and features Freddie Jackson, Ashford & Simpson and some really really hot songs.

My new mix CD will take you back to her classic songs as well as exclusive remixes of her new songs, "Will You" and "Do You, Do YOu Want It" and guest appearances from Legendary Kool DJ Red Alert (Power 105), DJ Chuck Chill Out (107.5 WBLS), Bowlegged Lou of Full Force, The Awesome 2  (Special K & Teddy Tedd) & DJ Evil Dee (Black Moon, Da Beatminerz).

I am extremely proud of this project and I would like to thank DJ OBAH for engineering the mix and co-producing the remixes, and BIG BIG thanks to Lynne B. and the entire Orpheus Music/Lu Ann  family!
