March 22, 2009 - Sunday
Played the Yellow Sofa last evening and the band had a great time.  The staff were very friendly and helpful and the band met many new and enthusiastic friends of old time music.  Northampton is a terrific town!!

March 12, 2009 - Thursday

Hope any of our supporters might be tempted to see us at the Black Moon Music Lounge on May 6.  We really enjoyed playing there on the 25th.  The staff and sound enhancement are really terrific and they have great beer on tap.

The band is happy about a wrong being righted today.

February 20, 2009 - Friday

The band would like to thank all the cadre at the Great Falls Discovery
Center for their welcome and help (and especially Michael with his sound system
help).  The audience was attentive and everyone enjoyed the night on February
13.  For other bands, this is a great place to play.  The great hall is terrific
and the attached museum is fun and interesting.  Wonderful gig.

The band also had an enjoyable evening on Saturday night, the 14th at the Amherst dance.  Tim Van Egemond did a great job calling and the dancers really seemed to enjoy themselves.  The Munson library is a great place for a dance and Robin, Jim Fownes's wife, was very friendly and helpful.  Too bad that her husband's case of the flu worsened so that he could not call that night.  Tim, substituting at the last minute, saved the day.

Shingle the Roof Blog
2008 is  come to an end and the first year of the Shingle the Roof string
band is now in the history books. We engaged our musical fingers with many
diverse activities, from playing for the monthly Montague Center Family
dances to picking and singing at the Brattleboro Farmers Market. We had
gigs at the Cotton Mill Hill Christmas Crafts Fair, the beautiful Old
Tavern at Grafton and at the East Putney Dance. Our biggest accomplishment
was recording and producing our 6 song demo CD and subsequent My Space site
which is now helping us spread the gospel of Old-Time music throughout New
England and the World. We now have half a dozen concerts and performances
booked for the winter and spring at various venues in Massachusetts and
Vermont. And we're going to be on TV in May! This is all so exciting! So
come and see us sing and play, and always remember that Old-Time music is
better than is sounds!
