Thanks for the votes. I thought it sensible to remove the VOTE NOW thing blog because the voting is over. For the results of the New Zealand Bird Of The Yaer poll go here for the TOP 10, http://www.forestandbird.org.nzand for the big run-down try here. http://www.forestandbird.org.nz/pollDoes any other country have a Bird Of the Year poll? Here is a photo of me (or it could be that Russian serial killer guy) with the winner. It's a wild one and they smell funny. It is the first time that this bird has won New Zealand's Bird Of The Year, which some may find surprising. Early Maori used them Fred Flintstone-like to play gramaphone records. Lacked a little top end but the beak lasted for about a year before needing replacement. Cheers all. Graeme

Hello all. The vinyl will shortly become available to any and all who desire to have a nice heavy copy of The Overflow to play on a phonograph system. It is in STEREO! We decided to leave off the Knox song at the end. That's a CD trick. They are all individually numbered.
Thanks to Owen for helping out.
Stand By.
Sooon. Sooooon.
Voted Warbler yet?

Hello friends. Some of you will know, and some of you won't, that Chris Knox, a NZ music legend and good friend of ours has had a serious stroke. He's in hospital in Auckland, New Zealand and has the best care and is surrounded constantly by loved ones and friends. Stroke is a weird and complex thing and it's impossible to know what level of recovery can be had, however he DID write a tune called The Brain That Wouldn't Die.
Humphreys & Keen representative Graeme Humphreys has seen Chris several times over the last few days and reports that Chris is 100% Chris. His character seems unswayed despite the physical compromises and obvious shock that the stroke has inflicted. Concerned parties and well-wishers are encouraged to contact Chris and his family and friends via the website below.

The family say that nybody wishing to support them can do so best by buying his latest work here.

I know that ALL responses are read and are very much appreciated and official updates on his condition will be posted there.
Chris has been a great supporter and critic of The Able Tasmans and gave freely and enthusiastically of his time and talent on Humphreys & Keen's The Overflow, singing the hidden track at the end of the Overflow CD. It does not apprear on the vinyl. We love him very much.

Another free thing... ...and no, it's not grilled KFC courtesy of Oprah, but something much more nutritious. A free song, which can be downloaded in the audiophile-quality format of your preference from our brand-spanking new BandCamp site: Calshot SpitStay a while, and stream The Overflow or any of the songs contained within. Browse the lyrics, sing along, hum a bar... Food for the soul if you will, for if music be the spice of life, then play on. Oh, and Calshot Spit? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calshot_Spit

As Phil Judd has pointed out, Humphreys & Keen DOES sound like a law firm. We chose it after not being able to come up with anything we liked. A default setting I suppose, and a way of getting it out of the way. It's useless now but what should we have called ourselves? Suggestions? This is a sweeet opportunity for insults and roasting but what the hell. Have a lash. I'd be interested in knowing and if anything REALLY appeals we could even consider a change. It's not as if we're a godforsaken "brand" as marketing dicks like to call just about anything at all these days. I bet marketing types consider Chimpanzees a brand.

Mercy that sounds formal! This weeks update comes with some very good news, for it is a sunday and that is what sundays are made of. Good News. The Good News this week is that The Overflow is now available through iTunes, pretty much anywhere in the world, where ever it's possible to get the internet. The corollary of this is that, technically, it's now on local release outside of New Zealand, we suppose. Now, as to what you actually want to do with this information is entirely up to you, we wouldn't suggest wantonly throwing your money at it, but you may want to mention to friends outside our little circle of trust here that where they once lamented not being able to get hold of their own copy, and had to borrow yours, now it's been magically made available to them at the link within this message. More than that, tell them the circle of friends can always accommodate one more member and we'd be very happy to see them along to share the fun at our weekly meetings every Thursday at the North Waldersham Scout hall, just down Priory Lane, next to the Conservative club, ... Men, a bottle, Ladies, a plate. Just a couple of last minute announcements before we wrap up today and start the music : Mrs Bishop is now collecting names for those who would like to volunteer for .... ;-)
