The show last night was a success. It was Bailey's first show ever, and
Chas' first show with us. And we had an awesome after party. My voice
was spot on, and I felt great. A few blips, but we treated that show as
a dress rehearsal for Sunday's (tomorrow's) show at the Crocodile Rock
in Allentown, PA. Five months of preparing paid off and then some.
The
big battle of the bands is tomorrow. If you read this and can come, the
doors open at 6pm, and it's going to be an AWESOME show, from what I
can gather. We hope to see a ton of faces there.
Wish us luck!

If you haven't stopped back in recently because of voting ending
last week, you might not have noticed that we were FINALISTS!! in
Allentown. Now Tom Taylor, the venue promoter extraordinaire, is no
stranger to The Groundbreaking Ceremony. In fact, we'll be playing the
Crock Rock about two months later, for certain with LoveHateHero, Four
Letter Lie, and Memphis May Fire on January 30th!
All things considered, we're honored that voting for us mattered
enough to all of you! And furthermore, that your votes carried us into
the finalist position we're now in! We're bringing our A-game for the
show on Sunday, and if this weeks practice is any inclination to how
good we're feeling about the two shows we have this weekend (Headlining
at IUP, and then the Crock Rock on Sunday), then Sunday's show should
be a blast, win or no win.
We don't feel like we're a shoe in, believe me, we've been drilling
into our heads the awesome sounds of the bands we're to be competing
against. We hope they're doing the same. We should all feel a great
edge about Sunday's show. Each of us has to bring our A-game, because I
think all of the bands that made it this far, have amazing talent.
Performance will be key, and so will getting a crowd out there. We're
bringing as many people as we can, and we hope they do the same. At the
end of the day, we just want to walk home feeling like rockstars, don't
we?
Good luck to all the contestants, and wish us luck as well, everyone!
-Jonnie and the entire Groundbreaking Ceremony

Well, it's funny you should ask. We've got a lot of things lined up, and a lot more on the horizon to BE lined up.
The EP is shaping up to be one of the most solid pieces of music not only that this band has ever put out, but that is out on the market right now, and we're honestly proud of ourselves for that. It sounds kind of overly confident on our parts to say that, but truthfully, we have been analyzing every song, every verse, chorus, and bridge, from intro to outro. And it's important that we take the time to do that now, while we have nothing but time to write and critique our own work. It's helping us create some awesome material.
We've said it before, and we'll say it again -- Man, I love being a turt-- wait.. no, I mean, we're recording a 7 song EP, and these are the tentative tracks to look forward to (some of them are working titles)
1. Intro 2. Winter 3. The Fight 4. What the Hell is a Jiggawatt? 5. Tasty Licks 6. **we have several tracks vying for this position on the EP** 7. Never Forget
Most all of our equipment upgrades have been made. We're scouting for three rackmount tuners, and three guitar wireless systems yet, but we have the invoices for them all right now. We're just waiting to actually purchase them until we need them. First things first, as they say. Dirk needs another brick of sticks, and Nick needs picks so he can get out of the ten thousand pick deficit that he's in to Chas, haha. Then we're going to buy ATA cases so we can travel with our gear and have it be as pristine ten months from now, as it is right now.
In about two months, we'll be making our payment for the studio time with Doug White, at Watchmen Studios. We have plenty of stuff to be saving up for, and all of us are actually pulling our own weight, which is making things craaaazy easy for us to accomplish our goals and deadlines.
We've been getting a lot of awesome comments and complements and emails regarding our material that's up on the Myspace currently, and that means the world to us. So, keep'm coming! We can't wait to show you what we've got in store for you, come the New Year.
As always, stay tuned -- tons of great updates to come in the future!

So as of the past few weeks, Dirk and Bailey and I have been accruing mass amounts of gear for the band. We were long overdue for an upgrade to a lot of our equipment, so Dirk and Bail-Bru and I set out to beat the crap out of that task. And so we did.
We bought over $8,000 worth of gear in literally, the past two to three weeks. An impressive amount of wallet control was demanded of us, but we did it, and the entire band is flourishing because of it. Better gear, better sound, better everything. We have a few more things we want to acquire before hitting the road, but it's mainly stuff we'll need for tour, and not so much stuff we need while we're writing.
What's that you say? -- how's writing coming along? I'm pretty sure I'm not allowed, as per Dirk's orders, to upload any of the new material for anyone to listen to, but rest assured, the stuff we have now, is awesome, and it's only getting better. We've gotten three definite tracks for the EP rough tracked for Chas and I to write melodies and lyrics to, and everyone's got a copy so they can go home and study to see what we want to revamp or reorganize.
The EP is currently untitled, but we've got a bunch of ideas in the mix, certainly.
We do have a layout and a tentative number of tracks to be on it, though. We're looking at an intro track, five tracks of awesomeness in the middle, and as Chas said before, an awesome melt-your-face power ballad in a style that is oh-so us.
So a seven track EP, it is. Three down, fourth is being worked on this week, as well as the intro track, so if all goes according to plan -- we'll have four of the solid middle tracks down, plus the intro. Leaving us with just the power ballad and one more that could be any number of the awesome tracks we've gotten down.
Look forward to a new Myspace design in the relatively near future, as we'll be coordinating our Myspace to our upcoming EP's album art.
It's all coming together folks, and it's happening right here! So stay tuned! -- We've got some awesome stuff in the works for you guys, and we'll be sharing it with you all soon enough.
Much love,
-Jonnie, Nick, Chas, Bailey and Dirk

Isn't that what Face used to say on Nick Jr?
Well, now that I've started my first ever GBC blog in such an excellent way, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Chas Myers, and I officially became one of the GBC boys earlier today. After being subjected to hours of inhumane acts of Groundbreaking hazing, I finally earned my spot as guitarist and backup vocalist in the band... and by that, I mean Jonnie, Nick, Bailey, Dirk and I all agreed that we dig this lineup and decided to make it official.
I have to say, I'm pretty lucky I stumbled upon this opportunity at the end of the summer. What started out as my desperate Craigslist post somehow led to me landing a gig where I get to create and play some seriously kickass music with four awesome dudes. And to think that I almost settled for covering Living On A Prayer and other overplayed-to-death songs in a college town. Let's just say the arrangement was mutual for all five of us, myself especially.
Since I started practicing with The GBC a few weeks ago, the progress we've already made has blown my mind. We already have an arsenal of awesome songs in the works, ranging from melt-your-face-off rock fests to epic put-your-cellphones-in-the-air power ballads. We're tapping into a lot of sources, including stuff the veteran GBC boys have been brewing for a while, some material I've been creating on my own, and some excellent numbers that were born out of impromptu jam sessions at practice. The writing chemistry is incredible, and we hope that come this winter, you find yourselves as happy with the music as we are.
But there's nothing quite as futile as trying to describe music in words, so I'm really looking forward to showcasing all of this in my first ever GBC show. I'm sure we'll have a couple of gigs lined up before we get into the studio in the winter, so we'll keep you posted. I'm looking forward to rocking out with all of you then.
Huge thanks to Jonnie, Nick, Bailey and Dirk for bringing me into the group. We can't wait to show you what we've been working on.

Amongst a vast array of dick and ass jokes, Chas jumped on the mic after showing us the vocals he has laid out for a song we're writing (tentatively called "The Fight"), and announced that he's taking the gig. He's our new lead guitarist.
A very productive practice today, but as I'm sure there aren't a whole lot of people interested in our practice, but rather our finished product, I'll just say we're all feeling pretty darn good about this line-up and the songs we're writing.
Hopefully Chas will grace us with his presence later this evening, as he and I are looking to be the main proprietors of running the band Myspace.
Picture updates soon enough, there's just so much going on.
