Good fortune finds me as an instructor/presenter this weekend at FC2's Writer's Edge Conference at Portland State University. On Friday night I'll be participating in the faculty reading (7 pm, SMU 333) alongside Lucy Corin, Brian Evenson, Lidia Yuknavitch and Lance Olsen; on Sunday I'll both lead a workshop and take part in the Trends in Experimental Fiction panel (2 pm, SMU 236). The reading and panel discussion are free and open to the public. If you're not already in San Diego for Comicon (as is half of Portland right now, I'm guessing...), drop in and say hi.

On Sunday at 2:30 pm, I'll be giving a talk on the connections between comic books and propaganda at the Pacific Northwest College of Art; the event is free and open to the public. My talk is just one part of PNCA's week-long Graphic Novel Intensive, whose highlights include workshops and lectures by Trina Robbins, Scott McCloud and Daniel Duford.

I'll be reading with Diane Averill and Kate Gray on Thursday, June 7 at Clackamas Community College. Noon, Rook 220. Come and make faces at me.

This Sunday afternoon I'll be leading a workshop in hybrid textforms during the Write Now mini-conference at Mt. Hood Community College in Gresham, OR. Later in the evening I'll be reading with poet (and fellow Redbird) Chad Bartlett and filmmaker Andy Mingo. The conference is open and free to the public. For more information, click here.
