In my first attempt at making a video, I did a book promo and posted it on my site. Please look it over and take it for what it's worth--No, wait--don't take it for what it's worth. Er...oh, well, just look at it when you have a chance. Go to my profile and scroll all the way down on the left side. My Thanks...

I recently had the opportunity to view a screening of Creep Creepersin's latest Writing/Directorial effort in the film, "Orgy of Blood."
The original story line (I know, beause I edited it) was about three vampires who were interested in blood, sex and intrigue, although not necessarily in that order. As it turned out, the lead vampire--played weakly by Italian 'actor' Domiziano Arcangeli, who is weak not only in acting ability, but in vampiric strength--is to be ousted from his role as leader of the clan by his vampire wife and their son, also a vampire. Domi is saved from this fate by a trusted servant and a human female with whom the vampire leader has fallen in love.
That's the short version. The longer version is the original screenplay was raped and bastardized by Domi, who had editorial control over the film. Originally supposed to be a vampire story filled with blood and erotica, the final version of the film is a poorly acted sex film with lots of blood, along with some people acting like vampires we might have expected to see in a 1950s B horror movie. And there are added scenes (not in the original screenplay) which apparently have no meaning and add nothing to the plot of the movie, which only seem to confuse the viewer.
The only Actor who showed any real acting ability was Elissa Dowling, who had a small role as a party crasher in the film, and unlike some party crashers who have been in the news of late, Elissa did not get to go to the party--at least not the one she expected to attend.
There are many sexual scenes in the movie, but they are all 'R' rated, while many have blood mixed in with the sex. There are also lots of naked people in the movie, but mostly only as window-dressing. The dream sequences, added by Creepersin at the last minute, help give the film an etherial quality, but leave the viewer wanting more of an explanation--which they never do receive.
From a visual perspective the movie is excellent, and if it had been made as a silent film, rather than allowing most of the 'actors' to speak their lines, it would have possibly worked much better than it actually does.
Picked up by Shoreline Entertainment for international distribution, "Orgy of Blood" may find success in Europe and Asia if they dub the actor's voices, and here in the States it may find a cult following along with such pictures as "Plan 9 From Outer Space" and "Glen or Glenda."
For Creepersin, hopefully this film was a learning experience. He did his job well, but the movie was sabotaged by the actors, few of whom did their jobs at all. "Orgy of Blood" should be considered a kinky, quirky, late night popcorn flick for horny young vampire lovers who might be too drunk to know any better. Some of the scenes are actually pretty funny, although I am sure they were not meant to be so.
All in all this film is a fun, campy romp through the realm of sadly acted vampires and group sex. Take it for what it is worth, and have some fun with it.

In just Ten days I will reach a major milestone in my life--another freaking birthday. That's correct, in a mere few days I will officially be OlderThan Dirt! Well, I will be older than some dirt, anyway. On the plus side, I found out today that my PSA (the measure of cancer growth in the prostate) has dropped to a 2.03 in just the six weeks since my surgery. That is good news, but you must remember that after the other two procedures I went through during the past four years my PSA also dropped, initially, and then went back up. So, I will need another PSA test in six months to be sure the cancer cells have really been destroyed. But, at least I have hope.
Back to my birthday. I have been on disability for nearly a year now and am also on Medicare (due to the disability). I have been a member of AARP for several years and have started to get junk mail from Scooter Stores, and while I do need to use a cane when my sciactica acts up I am not quite yet ready for a scooter, thank you very much. I still have all of my own teeth (and NO cavities, ever!), but have more hair growing out of my ears than on my head.
My diabetes affects my feet and they are always painful. I can no longer walk around barefoot even on carpet the pain is so intense. I had an EKG (or ECG as they are now called) before my surgery and I looked it over. I still have a right bundle branch block and now also have 'non-specific ST changes,' which means my ST wave is slightly depressed. This usually indicates some sort of heart damage (YAY!).
So all in all, my message is this: If you must grow old (as most of us do) enjoy yourself as much as possible while you have the time and chance to do so, cause it all comes to a crashing end sooner than you expect it too. Trust me on this. I've got nearly 60 years of experience to go on. OMG!

There were seriously times when I was not sure if I was going to make it through this, but now I'm more than a month post op and I actually feel better. Not 100 per cent by any means, but a damn site better than just a week ago. Had a really bad weekend with lots of pain and trouble with my bladder, but I figured out what the problem was and fixed it, so was doing some better by Monday night and am doing a lot better today. Plan to have blood work done in the next day or two and will find out if cancer is gone late next week. I also plan to get back into my writing very soon. My personal web site is up and if anyone wishes to follow my projects and life in general, stop by and look it over. You can also read an excerpt from my upcoming zombie novella "A Coming Madness" on the site. I will also be posting info on other upcoming projects, as well as blogs and life info, so come by and say Hello when you have the time.
Thanks...

Okay, it's been a rough couple of weeks and I'm still not fully recovered from my surgery, but I feel at least 80 per cent better than I did a moth ago, so hopefully something is working in my favor. Blood tests in three weeks will show if the cancer is actually gone, so once again it's a wait and see game. In the meantime, as with some of my friends, I have decided to move most of my blog posts and other information to another site, where there is no censorship to be concerned with and I have an entire site to do what I feel like doing. The site is now set up, so any who wish to may stop by and look it over, read the blogs, etc., and read an excerpt from my new, upcoming Zombie novella, "A Coming Madness."
The site was set up using Ning, so visitors may look over anything which is posted, but if you wish to leave a reply or comment you need to become a member of my site. It's no big deal--it's free and no one will contact you later about free ring tones or anything else. Stop by and look it over--what can it hurt.
Thanks.

For anyone out there who is interested in workshopping their Fantasy/Horror poetry or stories, please stop by this New workshop. I have recently spent some time (or wasted some time) checking out a number of supposed Fantasy and Horror workshops on the web. While one or two of them actually seem to offer a small bit of advice, for the most part they are a watse of time.
However, there is a New workshop which seems to be what writers are looking for. Whether you are beginning a writing career, want to start one or are a professional writer, stop by and look over this group. They offer honest critiques of your work, both fantasy or horror--poetry as well as stories--along with advice for polishing up your work. Stop by and look this group over--you won't be disappointed. Hey, I'm a member, so you know it can't be all that bad. FantasyandHorrorworkshop

I managed to survive the urodynamics procedure last Friday. It was another painful, horrible experience. The results of my test were so bad they called the doctor back to the office so he could look over the test. He then spent some 15 minutes with me in his private office. Needless to say he had few good points to go over. My surgery is still scheduled for this coming Friday, July 31st at 0700. My bladder and the surrounding tissue is so damaged from the radiation treatments I had four years ago, the doc has some fears about how well the surgery will go. He is pretty sure it will destroy the cancer (Yay), but in may also destroy what is left of my bladder sphincter.
I experience rather intense pain every time I void, due to severe muscle spasams around my bladder. The pain wakes me up over and over again all night and is no fun during the day, either. These muscle spasams were detected during the test on Friday and all were rather surprised by the results. I had been telling the doc about this pain for almost two months, but he brushed off my complaints until he saw the results for himself. So while vindicated by the test, I still have daily pain and am just very tired.
I will hopefully post results of the surgery as soon as I feel up to doing so. Adieu.

Okay, so I was way wrong with the artichoke info in my previous blog. Sorry about that. Turns out these guys are a perennial thistle of all things, and they originated in North Africa, but are best known as coming from southern Europe. The Greeks cultivated them, as did the Romans, and seeds were found in some ancient Egyptian tombs (from the Roman era). Along with the soft underside of the leaves, the heart of an artichoke is also edible, while immature florets in the center of a bud are called the "choke." These are not so edible.
The Dutch introduced the artichoke to England before 1530, and the vegetable was brought to the United States via French immigrants through Louisianna and by the Spanish to California. It can also be ingested as a tea and a liquor. A serving of artichoke can offer the eater 276mg of potassium.
Who would've thought?

I went and had the Cystoscopy done on Thursday. And, while I spoke to several people who have experienced this procedure before, none of them said anything about how much it Fracking HURT! Mayhap none of them had a damaged bladder muscle or a diseased and enlarged prostate. Whatever, it was miserable and terrible experience--oh, yeah--and very painful.
Be that as it may, while you are lying on a hard exam table, gritting your teeth and clutching the sides of the table while a doctor shoves a camera up your private part (as he tells you to, "Just relax, now, just relax) and swirls it around inside your bladder, you have time to ponder the larger questions of life. One thing I have always wondered about is who discovered that an artichoke was a food source? Ever wonder about that?
Artichokes (I believe) came from Mexico or South America originally, but I could be wrong. So, what were they first used for, before it was discovered you could eat them? Tie three of them onto leather straps and use them as a bolo? I doubt anyone watched an animal eat this plant and decided they wanted to try it as well. I mean, was some guy just walking around with a pot of boiling water and a dish of melted butter (mayhap with a dash of lemon juice) and suddenly decided he might experiment by boiling an artichoke, tearing off the leaves and dipping them in the butter, then scraping off the soft underside of the leaf with his teeth? How many trial and error times did these things make people sick before someone, somewhere figured it out? Shit like that just bugs me.
Really, people eat some weird shit in this world, but an artichoke--who would've thought? Oh, I do enjoy them, but it seems like a lot of trouble to go through for such a small return in comsumtion quality or quanity.
Hummingbird tongues is another big question mark. I don't believe they are eaten much these days, but at one time they were considered a real treat. Never heard of anyone eating any other types of bird tongues. Hawk tongue, anyone? Seagull tongue, buzzard tongue--I don't think so. Forty years ago my mother had a boyfriend who really enjoyed eating raw cow tongue. With onions. You can still find raw cow tongue in some ethnic markets, but Hummingbird tongue? How many of those would you have to eat to be satisfied? 20, 50, 300? Gad, people are stupid and disgusting.
Did I mention that the Cysto thing hurt like a Bitch!

My Cryogenic surgery is now scheduled for July 31st. I will also have two other procedures prior to the surgery, so mayhap by the time my (OMG!) 60th birthday rolls around in September, I just might be able to reenter life as I used to know it. Well, not entirely as I used to know it, but at least (hopefully) the cancer will finally be dead and gone. We shall see, shan't we?
Many, many thanks to all my friends who have been supportive and kind in my (long) time of need. When my new Novella eventually sees print, I will be sure you all get a signed copy of the book--at cost. No, just kidding. No cost, atoll. Really.
So, I have the Cystoscopy (Holy mother of god!--a camera shoved up my private part [maybe I can post pics on my site]) in two weeks, and then a bladder flow test in three weeks. The surgery is four weeks away. July is just about full up with visits to the doc.
Ah, well, mayhap this will really take care of everything. Here's hoping!

Current mood: depressed
Category: Life
I have been doing pretty well for the past few months, emotionally at least. The hideous, sucking depression of a year or so ago is for the most part under control--as long as I continue with my medication--for the most part. But even with medication, on occasion a tendril or two of darkness does manage to work its way back to the surface. At times, when the darkness reappears, my mind does tend to wander.
My 'feeling like total crap' days have have gone from one or two days a week to three or four days a week. I now feel so badly that I rarely leave the house at all, unless I absolutely must. I am not sleeping well, if at all, due to the pain which wakes me about every hour, so I am tired all the time. The pain is something new and just developed over the past couple of months, but only appears when I need to void--which is quite frequently--both day and night.
My Cryogenic surgery has been approved, so that will be done sometime soon. However, I have discovered that not only will the Cryo procedure completely destroy the cancer cells in my prostate, it will also completely destroy my prostate. The good side of this is that with no prostate left, it will be difficult for the cancer to return. The bad aspect of this is that with no prostse left I will never, ever be able to have an orgasm again.
So, is this a fair trade? Let's see--no more cancer equals no more orgasms. Not that I'm having sex, anyway. Not only does the pump not work any more, but the handle no longer goes up and down. But, I had always hoped that in time, things would return to normal. Now it appears that will never happen.
Beyond that, I have been just somewhat depressed of late. No reason I can put my finger on, just a feeling of deep sadness along with the feeling of how tired I am. Perhaps I am simply tired of feeling so fucking tired and useless all of the time. But, on the other hand, it appears I will live a bit longer than I expected to.
Ah, well, on to other things...

This evening I agreed to have a specific artist/illustrator do the art work for my first issue (and hopefully all of the issues) of Hardcore Harry. The artist is finishing up work on another comic at the moment (which is why I can't mention his name right now), but should begin working on Harry sometime next month. I have seen his comic art work and this guy is Really Good, so this is even better than I could have hoped for.
Now I have to get to work on the character descriptions, etc., and pound out issue number 2. This is SO cool. Okay, so I sound like a little kid, but this is really SO cool. LOL!!
More details as they become available. I am stoked!

Okay, for those of you in the MySpace Pool who had me being free of cancer...well, you lose. Turns out I still have cancer. In fact, my little (useless) gland is chock full of mutated, killer cells and they are apparently multiplying at a staggering rate. Shit, eveyone's having sex but me. And, while I thought the Cyogenic procedure was already approved, it seems I was incorrect. Doctor said they needed the results of the biopsy back first (just to make sure I was still infected) before they even asked for approval for the needle insertion.
So, I'm back to waiting again. It may be another two weeks before I find out if and when the procedure can be done. This procedure is about 80-85% effective in killing off the cancer. Of course, the radiation treatments were supposed to be 90-95% effective in killing the cancer, and we all know how that turned out, don't we?
And I have been very ill lately, as well. The pain in my bladder is frequently intense whenever I attempt to void, and since I am incontinent, the pain keeps waking me up at night. I have been getting between three and five hours of sleep a night due to that problem, and just feel generally as if a giant ball of ick has been dumped on me.
It is affecting me in other ways, too. My memory is totally FUBAR. Last month I forgot about my sister's birthday, and last week I forgot about my own daughter's birthday (but was reminded the day before), and today I discover that I also forgot about my granddaughter's birthday. I feel really terrible about this, and can only hope my family understands and does not blackball me or think me insensitive.
That's about it, I guess. I feel like crap damn near every day, I can't remember anything anymore and I am so tired I can barely think. Let's see...shit, I forgot what I was going to say. And I'm sure it was a real zinger, too. Oooo...we have Zingers! Think I'll go have one and send my blood sugar over the top. Gotta have some fun, you know?
