Hi all,
We thought it was about time we gave y'all an update in the life of Cowboy Up. 2009 has been a growing year for us, with many ups and downs (and lineup changes!).
The year began with a new setup. Chris from local rockers `Close to the Edge' came aboard to handle bass duties, and as the year progressed has increased his vocal input considerably. Gordy, having switched from bass guitar to the 6-string version, and has recently added much slide work to his repertoire. Mark is still jumping (literally) from keyboard to guitar with ease (is there nothing that man can play?!).
As many of you know, Dan Crossette left his position as Cowboy Up's original drummer mid-year, due to personal reasons. There were times following his departure that the remaining members wondered if this was the end. Many drummers were auditioned, but they just didn't gel with the other guys (Dan even came back for a guest appearance at our rodeo show in Farmington - great night). After much searching, we were introduced to a drummer named Brent Foster. His musical background was punk (which Chris loved, as his was also), and he hadn't played a live show in over 2 decades. This was very nerve-wracking for the band, UNTIL they rehearsed with him for the very first time. Raw power and exuberance behind the kit made the other band members forget that this guy had never even heard any of the country music we played, let alone drum in a country band!)
Cowboy Up are now more solid than ever. Our sound has become more focused, our live shows more intense, and most important of all, the guys in the band are having more fun playing music than they have in 20 years!!
LOOK OUT FOR US IN 2010... COWBOY UP, OR LAY THERE AND BLEED!

After much soul-searching, drum-thrasher Dan Crossette has made the decision to leave Cowboy Up due to personal reasons. Having been with the band since the beginning, Dan was a vital part of the machine and will be sorely missed by the other guys in the band. His last show will be tonight, headlining ..Tallyrand Days' at the Double Deuce. He has also wished Cowboy Up every success in the future. We will be announcing his replacement within the coming weeks.
All the best Danny, from your friends and bandmates of the ..Up'.
