i had this old case sitting around for awhile.....don't know what it was originally used for but it had some kind of clock mechanism and one power toggle.  after gutting it i realized that it would make a great new housing for my Bug Brand inspired bit cruncher circuit which had been living in a temporary plastic toy case for the past year.
i had recently done a few mods and tweaks to the bit cruncher so i needed a bigger metal enclosure because i wanted to make a stomp version.
the new mods include true bypass stomp switch, two different crunching modes via middle toggle, and a blue led that pulses with strength of incoming signal.  power toggle switch was replaced with a stomp switch.  i need to find a better knob for that pot though.....something more vintage and wide so i can adjust it easily with my foot.

Bent and re-housed Barbie Karaoke now makes for an excellent echo/delay box.  I used an old small reel to reel for the casing and it was a pretty tight fit.  I painted the lid a dark brown and the metal part vintage green.  The bottom and sides are the original cream color.  The lid is held in place by the shoulder strap loops.
Bends include echo pitch, length, depth, feedback, noise, etc.  1/4 and 1/8 inch input and outputs, bright blue power led, an echo off switch, and a main power switch that's mounted under the lid along with the battery compartment.   I modified this specifically to run my Yamaha RX15 through.  I have no idea what other gear will sound like through this yet.  The drum machine sounds pretty damn good though.  I'll post a sample link soon.

Yamaha RX15 with one bend for now.  As soon as I get my toggle order i'll add the other two I found.  I only found a few bends that didn't crash or affect the machine badly, so i chose the ones I liked the most and were the most stable.  I wasn't looking for anything spectacular with this drum machine because I had heard they weren't too bend friendly.....very true, but it was only $20 and extremely easy to program patterns and songs.  It kinda reminds me of using an SP-12 but without the tuning or sampling capability.  The samples are pretty lo-fi and even more so when using the echo box.  The bend is a 1k pot for a distortion/modulation effect.  Other bends found are similar and adding an atari joystick to control one particular group of bends is rather tempting....we will see.

so there is this thrift store about half an hour away that i try to frequent but their hours are weird and don't usually work with my schedule. they have stacks and stacks of random electronics in there, and one of the first times i went there i found an old "no dancing please" sign. an old guy and his wife run it and they are huge bush supporters and probably think i'm some freak criminal. i imagine they both probably have pistols strapped to their legs at all times. anyway to make a boring story short, i waited almost six months for the guy to take a Yamaha DD-50 drum machine out of the "NOT FOR SALE!" corner and finally put it on the shelves. i picked it up along with a PSS-130 and a cheap distortion pedal.

oh, and i'm trying to fix the sound sample issue. for some reason putfile.com deleted a lot of my mp3's.

Yamaha DD-50 with added patchbay. very cool sounds and a ton of bend possibilities, but i wish it had midi in and more patterns. i'll paint it eventually. i used an old joystick case for the patchbay.

Yamaha PSS-130's with added voice changer circuits. both are pretty similar. one has a true bypass switch while the other has a seperate output for the effect circuit. the usual feedback bends were added along with distortion/overdrive bends. i love these things.

Another Voice Changer re-case with true bypass and pitch bends.

Casio MT-200 with two drum pitch dials, two feedback/noise dials, momentary glitch pushbutton, an rca in jack for the oscillator circuit, and the original 1/8 drum trigger jacks. i have the oscillator circuit in a small case with four 1/8" jacks for the drum triggers, and one rca out to add an adjustable tremelo effect to the voices.

VTech Video Painter
*audio to video glitches via six point rotary switch
*1/4 inch audio input jack with volume dial and on/off switch
*5 pushbuttons for additional glitches
*glitch/"purple" switch
*speaker on/off switch

Casio SK-1
this is my studio sk-1 that i recently rebuilt.
*added LFO circuit connected to four different bends via toggles, rate adjustment dial, flashing LED, and on/off switch.
*video out jack with contrast dial.
*2 poly dials and one drum fade/kill dial.
*10 bends for many other effects and glitches.
*1 flashing rythm LED.
*1/4 inch audio output.

Yamaha PSS-140
cut data lines now connected to switches for voice layering, mixing, and fucking up.  i've done quite a few of these and i chose to stick with just the cut data line mod on this one along with a new paintjob.....don't know if i like the color i used but hey, it sounds cool.
audio samples coming soon.

Radio Shack Reverb unit bent and re-cased in an old data switch box.  i also added an lfo circuit with pitch control and body contacts.  audio samples coming soon.

Circuit Bent Video Enhancer still in progress and re-cased in an old vhs case

here is a video sample of it in action with the song Witch Hunt from my new album Behind Every Mask.  one of the modifications is an audio to video bend that causes incoming audio to glitch the video signal in sync.

Voice Changer circuit bent and re-housed.
i ordered some new project boxes with nine volt holders and they are great but there is very little room to make an interesting control layout. i love how small it is but i may have to go with a little bit larger enclosure next time....there was just no getting around the face look.
anyway, one pot raises pitch while the other lowers it, and each toggle adds a different effect. 1/4 inch input and outputs in back.

also makes a great distortion box for a keyboard but here's what the mpc had to say.
sample 1
sample 2

this is a very cool little pedal based off of the Bugcrusher schematic housed in a small book shaped plastic box. it allows you to adjust the bit rate of whatever signal you run through it. the pot gives you smooth adjustment from clean to about 8-bit sound. i will definitely be exploring the possibilities of this circuit in the future....added lfo and more capacitor tweaks will be next.
Audio Samples Coming Soon.

Evil Walkman Distortion.
bent and re-housed walkman tape player with filter and overdrive/distortion bends. this particular one is my favorite and is less noisy than previous walkman projects. keyboards sound awesome through this. another keeper.
