September 4, 2009 - Friday
Tonight we finish recording our debut 6-song EP with the very talented and gracious Ryan Maier, of the great local post-rock band Sink The Bismarck. Ryan will be mixing and we'll be sending him electronic tidbits here and there to blend in from our invisible/by-proxy member Chad, but other than that, we're practically done. Then there's finding affordable options for mastering and duplication. If you got suggestions, send 'em our way. Thx!

But here's the exciting part. Besides being able to download the release for a price of your choosing, we will be DIYing the packaging for this limited run of physical copies, complete with a collection of specially written literature composed by friends and family for our songs. So not only do you get an obsolete compact disc, but you also get an obsolete form of the written word! Hurray!

Also, you might be wondering, "hey you got 10 demos on this here MySpace, so why do we only get 6 after waiting so long?" Well we recorded drums for all 10 and then reality set in and we're simply not equipped to ready an hour-long album by the end of the year. But there's good news, of course: we'll already be at work on another 5-6 song EP by the time you hear the first one. So you can expect another release from us next year! Zippee!

Here are the songs (order subject to change) that you'll find on our yet-to-be-titled debut EP:

1. There's Still Time, Pea Pod
2. Cheerupyrgonnadie
3. A Hilltop Like A Fallen Parenthesis
4. It's Sunset At Midnight
5. Let's Meet Halfway (And Fall Apart)
6. Time ≠ Still

Two shows featuring beloved national artists and local heavyweights are on the horizon for the band. The first features the Boston pop-rock geniuses Wheat, who are touring in support of their blissed-out new album White Ink Black Ink and local group Ice Palace (on Craig Minowa of Cloud Cult's Earthology label), whose gritty folk rock sound is huuuuuuge.

More Cowbell presents...
Wheat w/ Ice Palace & Paragraphs
Friday, August 28th @ 7th Street Entry
701 1st Ave N, Mpls, MN
9pm, 18+, $8
Facebook Event RSVP (flier below)

Also coming up which we are equally excited about is playing with Austin instrumental outfit The Calm Blue Sea, who do everything completely DIY and still are getting tons of well deserved praise for their new album Siegfriend: An Original Score, which is an imagined score to the 1924 Fritz Lang classic. Their intensely dramatic sound will sound nicely next to us and local ambient composer Aquarelle, whose upcoming release Slow Circles should astonish the Twin Cities music scene.

Your undying support and consideration are always appreciated, and a round of thx to Borangutan, Switchblade Comb, Culture Bully, Vita.mn, and More Cowbell, who wrote/posted about our summer shows!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Paragraphs (sometimes known as "prgrphs") are a relatively new Minneapolis trio that plays music that features a lot of delay pedal, toy Casios, a plastic turtle washboard thing, a drummer with a goofy smile, and little to no vocals. They have demos up for your aural perusal here. They want to put out an album in the fall if they can muster up enough cash.

Most importantly, however, is that they are honored to be playing at the 7th Street Entry this Friday, June 19th with Andrew Kenny's new band The Wooden Birds and Oklahoma's musical embodiment of melancholia extrema, Other Lives. Kenny's other band, American Analog Set, is currently on hiatus, but The Wooden Birds are just as quietly and adorably awesome. David Wingo of Ola Podrida (and David Gordon Green's film score dude) and Michael Bell of Lymbyc Systym are also in the band, which is sweet. Here's the deets (and a flier is attached):

THE WOODEN BIRDS

w/ Other Lives & Paragraphs
Friday, June 19th @ 7th Street Entry
9:30pm doors / 18+

Paragraphs also have a couple other shows in the 'ol pipeline if you can't make it out this Friday. And they're both early so you can get in bed in time for Jimmy Fallon (that sounds wrong)...

MINNEAPOLIS FREE MUSIC SOCIETY

Thursday, June 25th @ Eclipse Records
6:00pm / All Ages

TIDES OF MAN
w/ Paragraphs, Sink the Bismarck, & Goodday Montag
Wednesday, July 1st @ The Beat Coffeehouse

To recap: prgrphs loves you and live music is fun. Shout out to Culture Bully who photographed us at the Sunset show at the Kitty Cat Klub earlier this month. Thx for reading.
