Hey out there,
We're having a time touring in Europe right now (schedule can be found here), but we wanted to give our homestate friends a heads up -- we will be playing in the City of New York, alongside our dear friends AA Bondy and Willy Mason at the Bowery Ballroom on December 9th!

Our last show in NYC got pretty crazy, so make sure to get your tickets to this one early. You can do that right here.

We hope to see your beautiful faces there, celebrating with us.

With Love,
The Duke and The King

The D & K wishes to thank everyone who came out to see the shows during our last trip to the UK. This was our first tour abroad as a full band and we had the most amazing time and met some if the most amazing people. AND we got to be on Later with Jools Holland -- and we got to play right after the legendary Gladys Knight! To check out a video of our performance, click here or Jools' homepage for an impromptu performance of "If You Ever Get Famous" that we did after soundcheck.

We are looking forward now to our next tour of the UK, coming up in November. We hope that the music has touched you enough to tell a neighbor or a friend about us!

In US touring news, we are very excited that our next US show will be Levon Helm's Midnight Ramble on November 7th! We are so honored to be a part of this and can't wait to share that experience with everyone involved.

In the meantime, Australia tour dates are up next... and there will be more UK and US dates posted soon, so stay tuned.

We love you.

Yours truly,
Reverend LoveDay

Hey all,
Nothing Gold Can Stay has been getting some great press. Here's a few snippets:

"If Simone Felice ever finds himself in hell, he'll manage to somehow make it sound pretty good.... Felice and Burke write songs that are honest, raw and sometimes painful, as evident on their debut CD."
-NPR Weekend Edition: Saturday
(to listen to the full interview and a live song, click here)

"The overall sound is supremely sun-kissed, with swathes of high harmonies shadowing Felice’s every beautiful melodic twist. It is, surprisingly, ‘70s west coast FM rock that seems to be a constant sonic reference (perhaps for nostalgia's sake), though often with enough of a modern rhythmic feel to never feel unsure as to which decade this record was made."
-Americana UK

"Neil Young meets Marvin Gaye on the kind of record that cults are made of."
-Word Magazine

"a wondrous album... the music is sweet, soft and for the most part, hopeful." 4 stars, album of the week
-Sun Times

"Felice’s songs are trim and chiseled, most notable for their sheer honesty and attention to detail... Brilliant."
-Boston Globe

"The duo swaddle their songs in subdued arrangements that would have sat well among the Laurel Canyon balladeers of Asylum Records: acoustic guitars, pianos, and restrained rhythms, sewn together with subtle detailing, warm harmonies, and a peaceful easy feeling."
-The Independent

"Songs so perfectly formed they might have been around forever"
-The Daily Telegraph

"They have pulled off a quite remarkable feat on Nothing Gold Can Stay - one of my favourite albums of the year. Each song somehow sounding like a classic, each live performance suggesting we are in the presence of a rare, fiery brilliance."
-The Guardian

"Simply has to be the must-have album of the year so far."

June 30, 2009 - Tuesday
Dearest friends and family,
The Duke & The King are pleased to announce that we will kick off a US tour on August 1. We will be starting out with a show in our rusty ol' beloved Catskill Mountains and will be playing songs from our debut record 'Nothing Gold Can Stay' (out August 4 on Ramseur Records), as well as Simone's Felice Brother's favorites.

We just got back from a trip to the U.K., where the folks had nothing but nice things to say. The London Telegraph even called Simone Felice "the greatest singer-songwriter you've never heard," continuing, "I went to a gig last week as good as any I have ever seen, by a relatively unknown singer & songwriter (and performer) working at the very highest level of his art...It's a kind of cracked country soul thing, with a dash of psychedelia, and at the heart of it are Simone's songs which are, honestly, the best I have heard in a while… these songs are good enough to be sung by the whole world."

We are so excited to sing our songs along with all of you and hope that we will see your beautiful faces out on the open road.

If you'd be so willing, we could really use your help spreading the word about these shows. So, for posters, online stuff and anything else to help - please send your email and physical mailing address to stephanie@ramseurrecords.net and she will hook you up.

To August! Guns of August! Bury this here gun!

Love, always
