THE ORIGINAL ‘INGLORIOUS BASTARDS’ ....

COMES TO ‘MIDNIGHT MOVIE MAMACITA’ 8/7 – 8/8 ....

 ....

MADCAP to host Phoenix Theatrical Premiere....

of Italian action epic that inspired Quentin Tarantino’s ‘BASTERDS’....

 ....

Phoenix, AZ, July 19, 2009 –While the world awaits the August 21 release of Quentin Tarantino’s INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS, midnight movie fans can experience the film that inspired it when the ‘Midnight Movie Mamacita’ hosts the Phoenix Theatrical Premiere of Enzo Castellari’s INGLORIOUS BASTARDS on Friday and Saturday, 8/7 – 8/8 at the MADCAP Theaters in Tempe. The screenings also celebrate the movie’s 7/28 restored Blu-ray and DVD releases via Severin Films.....

 ....

Castellari’s 1978 international hit remains perhaps the biggest war movie in Euro Cult history. Action movie icons Bo (WALKING TALL, KILL BILL) Svenson and Fred ‘The Hammer’ Williamson star as the leaders of a gang of condemned criminals who escape from an Allied prison convoy with a plan to blast their way to the Swiss border, only to find themselves ‘volunteering’ for a suicide mission deep inside Nazi occupied France. Academy Award® nominee Ian Bannen (FLIGHT OF THE PHOENIX, BRAVEHEART) co-stars in this explosive action DVD that The New York Times hails as “anything-goes action…making movies hasn’t been this much fun for a long time!” Exclusive Bonus Features on the new Blu-ray disc include include ‘A Conversation With Quentin Tarantino & Enzo Castellari’, ‘Inglorious Reunion At The New Beverly’, ‘Enzo’s 70th Birthday Party In L.A.’, the making-of documentary ‘Train Kept A-Rollin’’, an audio commentary and much more. ....

 ....

"If I had known that the original INGLORIOUS BASTARDS would become a cult classic, I would have read the script more than once and would not have had as much fun while making the movie," says star Bo Svenson, who also filmed a surprise cameo in Quentin Tarantino’s BASTERDS. Enzo Castellari, the Rome-based writer/director hailed as “The ‘70s Italian Drive-In God” by L.A. Weekly, also makes a crowd-pleasing appearance in Tarantino’s new film. “To have my movie become such an inspiration to Quentin is a wonderful acknowledgement of my career. I became a director because I loved American movies. With INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS, that love has now come full circle.”  ....

 ....

Severin Films was formed in 2006 with offices in Los Angeles and London. Their previous releases include THE SINFUL DWARF, lifetime Goya Award winner Jess Franco’s classics MACUMBA SEXUAL and BLOODY MOON, Walerian Borowczyk’s IMMORAL WOMEN, the unrated Director’s Cut of GWENDOLINE starring Tawny Kitaen, and Oscar nominee Patrice Leconte’s international hits THE HAIRDRESSER’S HUSBAND and THE PERFUME OF YVONNE. ....

Our friend Kelly Subbucco, aka THE SARGE, has left this world for a
better one.
With the blessing of his mother and daughter, his friends are hosting a
memorial service this Friday, March 13th, 8pm-10pm, at Chandler
Cinemas, auditorium #10. His mother will be in attendance.
Sarge had friends in many different social scenes--ROCKY HORROR, Sci Fi
conventions, movie screenings, the SCA and more. Please pass the word
on.
Everyone is welcome to attend. There are no age restrictions and there
is no cost or charge to attend the service.
Some of Sarge's personal belongings will be available for sale that
night in order to help his mother offset his cremation costs as well as
helping her with the hardship she now faces (she lives on a very fixed
income).
A portion of the proceeds of that night's ROCKY HORROR performance will
also be donated to her.
We hope to see all of Sarge's friends and anyone else who wants to pay
tribute to this true gentleman and much loved, mourned and missed
friend.

Midnite Movie Mamacita Unleashes “So Terrible, They’re Terrific!” Double-Header Duds

Bad movie buffs, you’re guaranteed to love laughable cult calamities The Room, Shark Attack 3. . . in the worst way!

When it comes to movies that are “so bad, they’re good”, they just don’t get any badder than this. Or funnier.

And who knows better than the Midnite Movie Mamacita (aka “The Valley’s Den Mother of Rancid Repertory”)  who proudly presents the Arizona premieres of two latter-day “Stinkeroos Supreme” as this month’s Grindhouse Redux double feature at the Chandler Cinemas, March 27 & 28.

First up is The Room (2003), a reeking “relationship” drama so uproariously inept (think Floor Plan 9 from Outer Space) that it’s become a Los Angeles midnight movie audience-participation sensation that promises to do for plastic spoons (yes, you read that right!) what The Rocky Horror Picture Show did for shredded fishnets. With a rabid fan base that includes LA’s hipster comedy-industry elite (Jimmy Kimmel, Paul Rudd and David Cross, among them), muscle-bound multi-hyphenate (director/screenwriter/star) Tommy Wiseau’s miserably misguided homage to the works of hothouse dramatist Tennessee Williams has been hailed by boosters as “the Citizen Kane of bad movies,” “a vanity piece gone awry to the point of hilarity” and “without a doubt, the worst film ever made, including movies made on beta max video cameras in special education high classes!”  Book The Room tonight—it’s your key to a wall-to-wall laff riot!

Then, just when you thought it was safe to go in back into the multiplex again, here comes Shark Attack 3: Megalodon (2002), the Moby Dick of cheesy piscean predator cinema. Far, far worse than the proposed Jim Carrey remake of The Incredible Mr. Limpet could ever be, it’s a  fetid fish story about a 19 million year-old  monster from the deep. . .whose ancient (but still remarkably elastic) chassis balloons and shrinks from scene to scene, “somehow” allowing it to chow down on everything from solitary swimmers to entire yachts. Filled with embarrassing performances, wretched special effects, mismatched footage (some apparently lifted straight out of a PBS Jacques Cousteau special) and what is undoubtedly the most obscene pick-up line in film history (delivered with gamy WTF? aplomb by  Brit TV star John “Dr. Who” Barrowman), this bottom-feeding knee-slapper sets a new high-water mark in bad-movie bilge. Trust us--your Jaws will drop!!!!

Friday March  27 The Room @  5 & 9 pm; Shark Attack 3: Megalodon @ 7 & 11pm

Saturday March 28 The Room @ 5 & 9 pm; Shark Attack 3: Megalodon @ 7 & 11pm

Admission is $8. The Chandler Cinemas are located at 2140 N. Arizona Boulevard, Chandler (behind Target), 480-821-1605
