Hello friends, it's been awhile. We last informed you of our plans to record and release a new "single" every couple of months in 2009, and to be honest, we haven't really followed through on that. Sorry. We have a pretty good excuse, though. We have a new band member! For the first time in our existence, we are officially a quartet. We would officially like to introduce Mr. Sam Powers as our new lead guitar/bass player. Sam has been in some our favorite bands over the years, and he actually helped record our first single and our first full length back in the day. We're very happy and think you will be to. We actually are doing basic tracks this week for some new tunes, so new music is not that far off. Also, look for a Carter Administration Lake Fever Sessions coming up in the near future. Got some summer shows coming up, check the schedule..... Sincerely, The Carters

Hope everybody's doing well. Here's some Carter Administration news for the '09:
October 2008 marked the 10th anniversary of our scrappy little power trio. We went back into our catalog and re-recorded 8 songs we weren't too happy with the first time around, plus a couple of our favorite covers (songs by Nick Lowe, AC/DC, and the Records, to be specific). A sort of greatest hits, without any actual hits. Having grown tired of filling up our closet space with unsold records, we have decided to jump on the digital release bandwagon full force. So we are proud to announce that starting today, our ten year retrospective, Bomb-Ass Singles: 1998-2008, will be available for free download at amiestreet.com . There will be a limited local physical release at some undetermined point in the future when we can afford it, but for now, it's Internet only.
Also, we have put our entire back catalog - full lengths, EPs, and singles - up on Amie Street as well. It's not free, but it's very cheap. If you'd like to listen to what we sounded like when we were younger, thinner, and sloppier, then knock yourself out.
As for new material, we have decided that instead of spending the next year in the studio recording a full length, and listening to our new songs become old songs, we are going to record and digitally release a two-song single (with proverbial "A" and "B" sides) every couple of months. The first installment, Victory Girls b/w Bitchery and Abomination , will also be available starting today for free download over at amiestreet.com, or right here on our myspace page.
Cliffs Notes version: entire back catalog, new ten year retrospective Bomb-Ass Singles: 1998-2008, and first in a series of singles planned for 2009, Victory Girls b/w Bitchery and Abomination, available for free - or really cheap - download at amiestreet.com.
Thanks for listening, everybody.

Hello friends, it's updatin' time:
We have an interview in the latest issue of Big Takeover (issue 62, REM cover). This is the best music magazine around, and if you don't love it already, you should pick up this issue.
We've started recording two records at Mr. Willhite's Safe and Sound Recording Studio. The first is a full length of new songs, and the second will feature re-recordings of old and / or "not done right the first time around" songs. The retrospective will be out this fall, not sure about the details of the full length, but we'll let you know as soon as we find out.
Of course, we'll be playing shows, so come see us.
We are currently endorsing the following recordings:
Hands Down Eugene, White Stone, Black Witch (Grand Palace)
Apollo Up!, Walking Papers (Grand Palace)
The Clutters, Don't Believe a Word (Chicken Ranch)
Millionaire Magicians, Millionaire Magicians
Respectfully,
Ryan, Todd, Andy

Greetings, friends.
Just wanted to let you know what's been happening with us. We have all been busy with various different things, some involving the Carters and some not:
Todd has been playing guitar and Wurlitzer with the Clutters and enjoyed free booze and shoes at SXSW.
Andy has been rocking with Hands Down Eugene, Sad Apartment, and the Legal Limits, has been recording a myriad number of projects in his own Safe and Sound Studios, and is also trying to rock a doctorate in engineering.
Ryan has been playing with The Legal Limits and his friend Jerry Campbell's band Millionaire Magicians, and is currently trying to figure out how to repair a busted riding lawnmower.
You should check all of these bands out if you have not already
We are currently working on our new EP, and as usual, we think it's the best think we've come up with yet. We're going to record it at Andy's place and are looking forward to recording and album ourselves again, something we haven't done since Pony Up!. There are some summer shows on tap and a couple of out town deals in the works, so stay tuned, if you wish.
Muchos Gracias,
The Carters

Current mood: crunk
Happy New Year, everyone. Hope 2008 has been good to you thus far, we'd like to give you a bit of advice on your New Year's resolutions: don't try to stop smoking or drinking, that shit ain't happening. Updates:
2008 is our ten year anniversary. We will celebrate appropriately.
As usual, we have been writing some new tunes and will have a new EP out this year. We are excited about this.
We are all involved in various other projects (Hands Down Eugene, The Clutters, Sad Apartment, The Legal Limits, Teenage FBI) that you should check out if you have the free time.
Here Comes the Copout is available on iTunes and from theory8records. No excuses!
We are featured in the October issue of Southeast Performer. Go read it!
Our friends at Tugboat Productions, the same fellas that did the "Downtymers" video, have produced a video featuring y'alls truly for a new website located over at vimby.com. It's sort of like our own Behind the Music, without all the success.
In the 2007 Best of Nashville issue of the Nashville Scene, the following was said about us, and it made us all tingly inside:
Best Local Rock Veterans: The Carter Administration
Approaching their 10th year, The Carter Administration show no signs of waning. The band's two full-lengths, eight EPs, and one single stand as one of the strongest catalogs in the local rock scene, and this year's Here Comes the Copout solidifies their reputation as the city's longest serving great band. Not only are the Carters prolific, but they possess a seemingly endless supply of pop hooks and wit—the two principles upon which this Administration was founded. On Copout, the sheen is a little brighter, but the formula is largely the same as it has been for nearly a decade. Still, the Carters have managed to mine an infinite number of solutions to that formula, avoiding the trappings of repetition and writing more songs than we'd care to count.
We're doing well and we hope you are too. Rock on,
The Carters
