Alright many of you in Los Angeles may not be aware of this dynamic soulful voice NYC calls Maya Azecuna. She has shared the stage with RoyAyers, Stephen Marley, Joss Stone, Bilal, Big Daddy Kane, the Isley Brothers, Gladys Knight, Anthony Hamilton, and John Legend to name a few and has toured the world extensively. If this isn't enough to make your ears go boom, members of the Rebirth will be her band while in LA/OC for 3 shows this weekend.

We have been to NYC three times and have been shown genuine family support every time we've dropped our beats in the east. We hope that our fans can come out this weekend to show some California love to our extended family member Maya Azucena.

Rebirth fans you can now pre-order the Love Issue EP 12" for a limited time at a special introductory price of $5.00!!!!

The first release from The Rebirth in 2 years, 'Love Issue' is a pick-me up, don't get too down on yourself groove, reminding us all that many of our issues in life are deeply related to love and our inability to fully express it.

Not only are these extended versions (instrumental included), but the 12" also holds 2 of our favorites songs from The Rebirth's first album This Journey In remixed by the UK's amazing Domu and Bay Area's J-Boogie.   The Love Issue extended and instrumental versions are being exclusively offered on this 12" ONLY.

1. Love Issue - Extended Version
2. Love Issue - Extended Instrumental
3. Shake It - J-Boogie Remix feat Raashan Ahmad
4. Talkin Me Down - Domu Remix!

The most challenging part of transition is not that we may end up in a better place than we were previously in but that we have to let go of what we have loved and known to be a big part of our existence…..

In 2007, The Rebirth had to say good-bye to members Noelle Scaggs, Greg Malone and Raul Gonzalez. Noelle will fly high with her solo pursuits, Greg will keep laying the bass grooves with Robin Thicke, and Ralphy will take Mambo's Café, his new family and business' to new heights. We wish them the best in their new ventures and we feel blessed to have had them as part of our family. Without them The Rebirth would not be what it has become.

We also said good-bye to our manager Charles Raggio and label and partner Kajmere Sound/Joseph Davidian. Their belief in this project was unwavering and their presence was felt with every new door that opened up for us. Last but not least, thank you to the staff at Kajmere Sound for all of your heart felt support of not only The Rebirth but all of the label's artists. Together we brought something to this industry that was direly needed and we left an everlasting impression in this era of transformation. We sincerely thank you from the bottom of our hearts. It has been an incredible ride thus far.

It seems like the better part of 07 was a time of heavy transition which hasn't been a simple challenge. To deal with the changes and to make the needed adjustments that will continue our mission takes time, re-assessment and implementation. Throw the music industry woes into the mix and you may now understand why The Rebirth laid low for a little while.

Despite these challenges, we feel we are all better because of it and everyone is on their rightful journey of self and so The Rebirth's journey continues.  Our desire to put our personal experience to music and show it to the world is a blessing we feel needs to be expressed.

We began 2008 by welcoming in the new members, lead vocalist J Mitchell, bassist Daniel Seef, percussionist Nikki Campbell, and our Operations Manager Andrea Greene. Rest assured, our new family members will take The Rebirth to a new elevation and you will get to know them on a more intimate level on our forthcoming full length release due out later this year titled "BeingThrough the Eyes of a Child".

In tribute to our past year of transition, we bring you a song called "Love Issue". This was the last recorded song featuring Noelle Scaggs and introduces Nikki on percussion. It's a pick-me up, don't get too down on yourself groove, reminding us all that many of our issues in life are deeply related to love and our inability to fully express it.  The EP is due for release this February but until then you can hear a snippet on our music player.

As adults we are in constant transition from a place of learned fear and protection to a place of pure expression of ourselves, the way we first came into this planet. "This Journey In" took us deep inside ourselves and now we keep transforming to our core center, "Being through the eyes of a child", not prisoned by our past or fearing the future.  To quote James Thurber: "Let us not look back in anger or forward in fear, but around in awareness."

So lets all begin a new in 2008, being fully aware in the moment with no attachment to outcome, and we commit to bring you music that is sincere and without compromise. Beyond that, it's up for the universe to decide.

With Love,

The Rebirth Family
