American Top Team had three fighters on tonights Ultimate Fighter 10 Finale card.
First up for ATT was Darrill Schoonover taking on James McSweeney. Darrill fought hard, but got caught late in the third round resulting in a tko loss. Darrill is a tough kid who trained very hard for this fight, and was a pleasure to have in the academy. We hope to see Darrill back training with us after his active duty commitment to the Army. He will report to Afghanistan for a 14 month tour. Best of luck to Darrill!
Next up for ATT was Mark Bocek. Mark took on Joe Brammer and did what he does best, getting the takedown and patiently working for the fight ending rear naked choke at 3:36 of round one. Mark looked very sharp and alot of that has to do with his work ethic. Marks another guy that is just an awesome training partner for so many in the gym. Great to have him training with us and part of the team. Congrats Mark!
This next fight had a crazy amount of hype and publicity surrounding it.Representing American Top Team, Kimbo Slice made his Octagon debut taking on UFC veteran Houston Alexander. Kimbo was a big underdog heading into this bout but he did a great job of pulling out the unanimous decision win. During his time with us, Kimbo worked hard with our Muay Thai trainer "Cha" and head coach Ricardo Liborio in preparing for this bout. It was good to work with Kimbo, his manager Mike, and the rest of Team Kimbo. We look forward to doing it again!
Congrats guys!!

Gleison Tibau defeats "The Denist" Josh Neer at UFC 104 in Los Angeles, California by unanimous decision. Tibau opened the fight with several big slams for takedowns and continued with that strategy for the rest of the fight. Neither fighter did much damage standing, but it was Tibau who threatened in the second round, when he moved to the mount position off another takedown and then transitioned onto his back. Neer did a good job to defend as Tibau slipped off the back and attempted an armbar that was defended. A solid win for Tibau over veteran UFC fighter Josh Neer. Congrats Tibau! Parabens!! ATT!!

Nicolae " The Destroyer" Cury put on a dominating performance winning by triangle choke in the first round. Nicolae was originally scheduled to face off against David Vieira at 165#'s, but due to visa issues his opponent was switched just weeks out.
Nicolae took the fight against his new opponent Danile McWilliams at 170#'s. Even though his opponent weighed in at 7 pounds over, Nicolae still took the fight when he re-cut to 175#'s and failed to make the required weight of 170.
Nicolae has always showed his warrior spirit and this is just another example of it.
This is why he is one of the BJJ instructors and kids instructor at the main academy in Coconut Creek. He is as professional as they come.
Way to represent Nicolae. All of your students are extremley proud of you!!
Parabens!! ATT!!!

Yes, its true!! The man they call "Kimbo" has begun his training at the main academy in Coconut Creek, FL.
Here he be preparing himself for his next fight in the UFC, rumored to be sometime in December. Kimbo will be training under the watchful eye of ATT's head coach Ricardo Liborio
Today at training, Liborio introduced Kimbo to all the pro fighters who all greeted him with open arms and offered their encouragement and help as he begins his training camp. There was a great vibe in the gym as Kimbo worked with our boxing coach, Olympic Gold Medalsit Howard Davis Jr on the finer points of boxing for mma.
In additon to Kimbo training, Denis Kang is back home with us after a 2 year absence due to visa problems. Its is a great sight to see Denis back training, as he always brings a tremendous work ethic with him that carries over to the rest of the team.
We also had WEC Champ Mike Brown getting ready for his Nov. bout with Jose Aldo, along with Yves Edwards, Luis "Banha" Cane, Wilson Gouveia, Antonio "Pezao" Silva, Jorge Santiago, Tibau, Pitbull, Hector Lombard, Jorge Masvidal, and Thiago Silva as they were all training hard, or helping their fellow teammates get ready for their fights.

ATT fighters did a great job last night inside a packed house in the Hard Rock Hotel in Hollywood, FL. Jahmal McLennan grabbed his first W with the team by finishing off Jimmy Chaikong in the first round via traingle choke. Nice to see Jahmal finally get his chance to shine. Donovan Ciolfi from Roger Krahl's ATT Sunrise academy did a great job of finishing off his opponent Bran Reddi in the first round via TKO. Donovans a hard worker who spent alot of time at the main academy preparing for this fight. I'm sure all his fellow fierfighters are proud. Rodrigo "Baga" Ramos took on Ben Marrow. Both fighters came out throwing, but "Baga" was able to get the fight to the ground and impose his ground game on Ben. Baga almost had a choke but after a short scramble he finished with a tight armbar for the tapout win. Good to see an old friend still doing his thing while holding down a full time job, running a successful ATT (Davie) academy, and still find the time and effort to train. Well done! Steve Bruno took on Clayton McKinney. Clayton threw some nice strikes but Steve was able to get this one to the mat and worked a nice combination of elbows and stikes before settling in on a d'arce choke to finish off his opponent. Nice win for Steve who battled through some bumps and bruises through this training camp but came through it all looking strong. Good win Stevie! Congrats to all our fighters who put the necessary work in and the coaches behind the scenes who make it all happen! Great effort guys! American Top Team

Riding a four-year, 10-fight unbeaten streak than includes wins over Urijah Faber (twice), Leonard Garcia, Jeff Curran, and Yves Edwards, featherweight champion Mike Brown (22-4) has cemented his place as the top 145-pounder in the world. Boasting a devastating right hand and slick submission skills, the American Top Team-trained Brown is gearing up for volatile collision with the young Brazilian challenger. “He’s really, really good for a young kid,” Brown, who defeated Faber via unanimous decision in June, said of Aldo. “I’m 12 years older than him, so I’m going to have to use my experience and my ‘old man strength’ to take him out. “I hear a lot about how explosive Aldo is and how hard he hits,” Brown continued. “We’ll see how he does when I control the fight and push him like he’s never been pushed before.” Perhaps no fighter instills as much fear in opposing fighters as Aldo. A vicious striker from the renowned Nova Uniao fight team in Brazil, Aldo (15-1) scored one of the best knockouts in history in his last fight in June. In just eight seconds, the 22-year-old landed two, mid-air flying knees to the head of Cub Swanson, ending the bout in dramatic fashion. Also owning wins over Rolando Perez, Chris Mickle, and Jonathan Brookins in his WEC career, Aldo is confident that he’ll win his first world title in Las Vegas. “I’m so happy to get this shot at such a young age,” Aldo said. “Mike Brown is a nice champion. His wrestling and boxing are really good, but his ground game is not the same. Like all of my other fights in WEC, I’m trying to finish this one as fast as I can and become world champion.” GOOD LUCK CHAMP!!
GO MIKE BROWN!!

It was a great night for the American Top Team fighters as they went 4-0 on Shine Fights 2 "American Top Team Vs. The World" card in Miami.
Micah Miller got the ball rolling as he submitted a game Anthony Morrison with a head and arm choke 4:35 into round two. Nice transition from Micah who was on Morrisons back and transitioned to top position to secure the hold. This was Micah's 4th fight this year, as he now raises his record to 14-3.
Luiz "Buscape" Firmino took on Team Quest vet Ryan Healy winning via unanimous decision. Buscape was able to control every round scoring multiple takedowns and almost securing a few subs as he took the decision over the scrappy fighter.
Coming off a 10 month layoff, Yves Edwards was able to pull off a submisison victory over the hard hitting James Warfield. Both guys threw some heavy strikes in this bout, but it was Yves ground game that finished the fight as he locked on a tight triangle choke to finish the bout 4:48 into round two. Great to see Yves back in the cage again!
In the Main event, Roan "Jucao" Carneiro took all three rounds on his way to earning a unanimous decison over veteran fighter Jorge "Macaco" Patino. Solid win for Jucao who controlled all three rounds.
Thanks to Devon, Dorian, Rhett, Ron, and the rest of the folks at Shine for allowing us to showcase our fighters and team. They were a pleasure to work with.
And Congrats to Micah, Buscape, Yves, and Jucao on their wins!
Way to go guys!!
