However, due to that little annoyance known as adult life (damn kids an' yer rock n' roll...), the recording of SPRH's first album has been pretty slow-going. Guitars are almost finished, but we still have drums to crank out. Needless to say (or is it?), this album WILL get completed (eventually) and see the light of day sometime this year. Y'know, hopefully.

On the Baker front, Matt has come back to visit once. We practiced, we drank, we jammed out some new and old tunes for a few close friends in the Crack House basement, and then parted ways again. The picky bastard liked most of what he heard of the accomplished recordings since he's been gone, so that should tell you something. What, I don't know.

MasterBaker got away. We tried to tie him up, put him in handcuffs, and ball-gag him but he liked it too much. We punctured his tires, but later found out it was his parent's car and he was taking the bus anyway. We got him really, reeeaaally drunk, but then followed suit and forgot what we were doing. But I digress (just this once).

Matt Baker, bassist/vocalist of Square Peg Round Hole joined the US Navy some months ago and took off for boot recently. We managed to get all his bass and vocal tracks recorded for the upcoming full LP freshman-release SPRH album before his departure. Recording is still in full swing as Bill and I finish tracking drums, guitar, and farm animals.

SPRH now stands in the state of temporary hiatus, with Matt Baker promising (on his god-damned life!) to return and wreak havoc with us once again. There will be no replacement. Square Peg Round Hole is Matt Baker, Bill Wade, and Paul Smith.

Thanks to all who were able to make it out to see us open for Green Jello(and sometimes y). Even though we didn't manage to sell many tickets, there was still a great turn-out for when we took stage and a totally awesome crowd-response. As a band, we feel it was the best show we've ever played, both technically and showmanshipally.

Which is good, because it might've been our last show for not just months, but years. Most of you have heard Baker is shipping out to the Navy in about 2 months. We may try to do one final farewell show, but if not, this was it, Peghedz. Hope you didn't miss it!

Peghedz,

Due to irresolvable issues (and other vagueness I can't come up with right now) Square Peg Round Hole has decided to split with Mike Chumley. We thank him for his time with the band and all that we learned from his skills and experience as one of the most prominent and well-liked frontmen in the STL rock/metal scene over the last decade.

SPRH is NOT breaking up and we are still doing the March 31st show at Pop's with Antiproduct and Retard-O-Bot. Vocals will temporarily be shared between all 3 band members until a new formula can be finalized. We will continue working on a proper demo and a full LP will follow soon after.

More to come, plenty to look forward to, and good luck to Chumley in whatever musical endeavor he pursues next. You can be damn sure I'll be in front of that stage next time he's on one.

Oh! Right, hi. We forgot to mention to most of you we're currently in preparations to enter a real studio (not your uncle's third cousin removed's friend's basement) and record a full LP worth of your favorite SPRH songs! We technically have about thirteen or fourteen songs. Ten will make the cut. Which ten, you ask? Will hell-bent synthetic fowl make an appearance? Does everybody's favorite street-corner savior get a spot? Answers to this and more once we're actually knee-deep in the recording process.

To quell rumorial disputes, yes, we took a hiatus about a year ago, before acquiring Chumley as our new vocalist, with the intention to record and not a damn thing came of it, but this time will be different! Truly, we have already completed most of the click tracks we'll need for the studio sessions, have looked into pricing, and rumors have even started that we would be inside the studio recording by early January! Well, those are false, and if I remember correctly, came from an intoxicated happy-go-lucky babbling contest between me and someone in another band. Uh...if you're out there reading this, feel free to contact me. I have no idea who you are anymore!

So! We are effectively on gig hiatus, but chugging along in the preparatory phase of finally recording. More on everything as it happens!
