once upon a time there was a city. Everyone in the city was very worried about the city's downtown and the sustainability of the city in general. There were some who believed that to fix the city up good the downtown should be cared for! and there were others who believe that development and the ableness of transport to get through the city were much more important. (This city just happens to be located near the great lakes transportation hub! oh hub!) One such great idea was to finish a highway that had been stopped from being built by the people, that fell through one of the last nature channels in the greater area of this city. Another great idea was to expand the city's airport, making it into an aerotropolis. thank goodness, thanks to PEAK oil and the greenbelt! the aerotropolis just might not happen!!

HX---- the greenbelt collective started in montreal, canada in march of 2005. All the songs were written as poems and later turned into songs by two sister members. in september 2005 the greenbelt collective moved to hamilton ontario, where it built up a beautiful relationship with some 5 or 6 friends and family members. The greenbelt began to play weekly, opening up for a local artist named katie caron (www. myspace.com/katiecaron) after many weeks, the greenbelt collective had played with over 12 different musicians from the surrounding area. After a long wait, two of the founding members, decided it was time to move along to vancouver. Almost half of the members from hamilton/mount hope moved to montreal fairly promptly after the departure, and are presently living there quite happily. Oh Vancouver!! Come and see us play! or -- join us for a practice or two if you believe this is your cup of tea.

The History of Music Waste

Music Waste started in 1994 as a one night only thumb of the nose to the cumbersome giant known to all as Music West. This joke, aimed at the corporate festival, grew to the point that it was no longer an alternative to New Music West but an event which is just as important to Vancouver's indie-music scene. 12 years later, it seems that its time for local musicians, artists and street level promoters to realise that they in fact are Vancouver's music industry and this is their festival.

this is a project that came from a dream that sarah and i both had the same night... almost all the songs come from poems that nikki and i turned into music.

the relocating of the red hill creek for the expressway is a terrible thing. and our
hearts go out to all the misplaced deer wondering around the cut offs and over passes.

we have family and friends to thank. anyone can join as long as they are willing
to sing and have a place for sensitivity in their hearts.

former locations: montreal and a small town outside of hamilton called mount. hope.(hamilton)

this project was birthed from the unfortunate collapse of our montreal band... we really have sb, alana, and kirsten to thank for this experiment.
