Ladies and gentlemen who play music for a living. I'm learning, without going into too much detail how, that as musicians, the power to make yourself a living and successful is in your hands. Thanks to the internet, a musican can make available a song to anyone in the world and its proceeds can go directly to your pocket. Long gone are the needs for labels or even pressing a cd. You don't have to give away your publishing or anything else for that matter. Remember that and stay sincere to your music!

A couple of weeks ago, after spending the latter part of the weekend doing the Nashville hang, I went to the Tap Room (mmmmm 22 beers on tap) to check out a killer four piece group---Eclectic, funky, roots firmly planted in blues, rock, jazz---but sounding very modern. I must say I left endearingly jealous: Guitarist Guthrie Trapp took long solos, fingers flying on a tasteful whim, bassist Dave Pomeroy firmly held down the low end with such musical flare, another guy named Pat (?) on guitar humbly executing his skills and the drummer (don't know his name!) riding the wave of improv---steady and solid. I wanted one of those gigs!!!
I went home and spent the next day playing bass to an old soul tape put together by friend Mitch Palmer back in Dallas blues jam days. I wanted to play so bad I called up bar owner and drummer at local Poe's Dinner Bell to force a jam session, I was so inspired and desperate to play with someone besides the tapes in my living room. There Poe called up some buddies and we set up a jam session for the next night, Wednesday.

The next day I eagerly awaited 8pm by showing up at 7pm with my bass, guitar, and my little 1960s Alamo amp. I met Wade-- a fine guitarist and skydiver, Poe is there so I set up my bass. YAY! A little before 9pm, in walks this multi- colored- goatee wearing dude. Everyone lights up and affectionately says hello to whom they call "Reverend Mad Dog". I switch to guitar and we proceed to drink and have a blast until everyone has to go home to the wives and girlfriends. We exchange numbers and say goodbye, agreeing to come back next week.
The next afternoon, not half a day later, I'm calling up Rev to see if he wants to play again. He laughs and points out that I appear to be fiending to play, i "calm" down and he says he'll see what he can do.
Two weeks later we have five weekly gigs, mostly as a duo, some with Poe, some with Rev's wife on drums, but all done with great love and free beer. I must say, the Rev now heads my new Church of Music and Free Beer because the gigs have been, though a little trying as we learn each others' material, some of the most fun I've had playing in a long time.
Please come out and check out some good music w/me and the Rev. There's alot of music to give and the locals really are a blast. Check gig schedule, most are early and on odd days of the week.

Sundays at Biker Oma's Roadhouse 5pm
Mondays at the Hawg Barn Lounge 6p-9p
Wednesdays Band Practice at Poe's
Thursday afternoons at Ideal Tavern (The Bloody Bucket) 4p-7p

Thursday nights at JD's Sandwich Shop 9p-??

PEACE YA'LL

Just sayin' hi to my buds to let you know what's been going on.

Finished a month-long west coast tour with the Red Elvises that went almost flawless... except for our van breaking down 7000 ft atop a mountain rounding Lake Tahoe. That's okay tho, cause the view was beautiful, and I got to hang out there a couple extra days while it was fixed. Won some cash in Reno after braking down again off Donner Pass...... Donner---- Party of 80, Donner ---- party of 80--- your table is ready.

Played LA, San Fran, Santa Cruz, Santa Rosa, Redding, Portland, Eugene OR, Tacoma, 3 gigs in Canada including Vancouver, 6 or 7 days in Montana (I LOVE MT!!!!!!) Powell Wyoming. We played just about every night---maybe had 5 days off

We sold out in Seattle and I think Bellingham WA, where the lofty crowd behind the stage got to see my Target brand thong. Thanks ya'll.

Tomorrow I fly out to LA to begin our next tour which includes the east coast. We'll be out for 8 weeks then on to Berlin and Warsaw, Poland in July. I'll be staying in Europe to tour with my own project in August.

Please keep in touch with my schedule and come out to a Red Elvises show. It cannot be described--- it must be experienced.

Peace, ya'll

Beth
