lordroc & Preechman Throwback 04-05

Hello Everyone,

Lordroc and Skygod UPDATES.

Hope all is well. Just wanted to update you that the Skygod Youtube page has been revised and has new videos up including the 5 Pointz news update and an amazing rap improvisational freestyle in the 'Official 5 Pointz Webisodes' which will be updated more frequenly and also added to...

........which I am currently in the process of gathering content for and updating frequently but for now it's up and functional with info, photos and will soon be furnished with an online store so you can have access to the exclusive merchandise you've all been asking for over the years.

I have remodeled Dj JS-1's website and have also designed the packaging for his last few product releases. The pleasure of working with JS is the ability to put my name on truely QUALITY material. I advise you all go to the site and listen to his music (FREE downloads available) and watch his videos (which I have filmed and edited some of as well). We've also completed a DVD documentary of DJ JS-1's come-up featuring rare footage of his world-wide travels with cameos by many established entertainers. It will be available soon everywhere, I'll keep you updated.

Mr. Nyce is a fellow artist I've been working with for many years now who has finally released a collection of material for the public to enjoy for FREE. I did his album artwork, photography, 2 full quality videos and have collaborated on numerous songs with him and his brother (aReNBee), who together form the group The 9th Kloud.
I appear on one song on this collection called 'ALRIGHT' and the full album is titled 'THE LATE NYCE SHOW'. It is available along with the videos and all other promo pictures FREE by clicking here: www.MrNyce.com/LateNyceShow.zip

A few small things:

-I had a nice cameo in MTV's JUST KAIT - SICK video (it's on my youtube page).

-I also featured on a few songs on COLD HEAT and Jak Danielz' album BAR HOPPIN released on Bomb Hip hop Records and is available on I Tunes. I also did the graphics and back cover art for that album and some of their other projects along with filming a video for their song HIP HOP MANUAL with CRAIG G of the legendary JUICE CREW (youtube). www.myspace.com/jakdanielz

-You can also see a glimpse of my photo on the inside cover of the 2009 SADAT X - BRAND NEW BEIN' album (which is a really good album by the way).

-FATCAP- I've been painting murals all summer and one project I painted was 4 walls to a store in Brooklyn on Bedford Ave. and North 3rd street. I will let you know when they open I will be having a listening party there and a lot of my product will be available for sale along with original art.

I've also been working on a secret project which is almost in the finalized stages of becoming a reality! It is a comic related product and I will hopefully be blasting out teasers real soon - stay tuned!!!

Also working on getting www.lordroc.com up and running so you will find all of this on one central lcoation along with much more soon!

This is already too much, I'll try to do breif updates more frequently but Thank you all for your support over the last 2 decades and let's keep it moving!!

Press Release, 4/21/09

On April 10th, 2009, a staircase located in the loading dock of 5 Pointz, just feet away from our office, has collapsed.  Media reports claim it was do to neglect on the landlord’s part and the landlord’s representatives deny the truth in those claims.  Either way, an artist who rents space inside the building was hurt in the incident and much attention has been brought upon the building since.  The future of the Aerosol Art program is in question.

A brief history of 5 Pointz

5 Pointz began in 2002 as an outlet for graffiti artists to paint walls legally as opposed to vandalizing the streets.  Meres made an agreement with the landlord to let us paint the walls of the old factory and in return we maintain the property and curate the art on the outside of the building.  Since then we have covered the entire building, top to bottom, with beautiful, vibrant murals, attracting tourists from all over the world to come and view the work.

5 Pointz has hosted artists from all over the world, especially Europe and creates a safe legal atmosphere for them to paint.  Graffiti artists from abroad come to New York for the sole purpose of painting.  20 years ago their preferred surface of choice would have been a subway train, today it’s 5 Pointz.

We have gained extensive media coverage and have also hosted various corporate events and video shoots including:

MTV

America’s Next Top Model

Sony Records

Joss Stone

Matisyahu

Joan Jett

NY Times

NY1 News

NY Daily News

NY Newsday

Vibe Magazine

Mercedes Benz

Etc.

We also host class trips, foreign tour busses and are a part of the Hush Hip hop Tours where we have interacted with some of the founding fathers of this culture.

The only money we receive from this is from donations or if a company wants to commission us to do art for them, other than that we are self financed and the artists must bring their own paint and supplies in order to be designated a spot.  Some of us are freelance artists and others have full time jobs and families at home.

The Future Of 5 Pointz

The future is still to be determined at this point.  The landlord is facing violations and we are temporarily closed until these issues are sorted out.

Our dream however, is a different story.  Our goal is and always has been, to turn 5 Pointz into an official museum equipped with tourist attractions as well as many community programs such as various different art/music classes and fundraisers.  We are interested in any help we can get in making this a reality.

As far as the building collapse, we pray for the victim’s health to restore and we will wait as long as it takes to renovate and make this building a safe place for artists to spend their time again, productively.

Peace!

Current mood:  confused
Category: Music

I'm writing this blog because I've been following the beef with (the rapper) Rick ross and 50 Cent and I'm sick of people trying to defend this guy saying "He makes good music, that's all that matters".

R Kelly makes good music too but I'd rather not support someone who could potentially rape my underage daughter.  And in William's case turn my kid into a drug dealing liar who only cares about cars, money, fashion and jewelry.

Me personally, I can't listen to this cat at all, and the music may be good for now but I doubt it's timeless.  The fact that he lied is messed up because there are cats who actually do the stuff he raps about and they don't even big it up like that...

Why does William think it's cool to rap about selling drugs when he actually was a respectable person (before he lied SO much) who has talent and who has worked at honest jobs for a living and struggled to become succesful in entertainment only to dissapoint his fans.  Hes' a bad influence of a rapper who uses the name of a living man who's in prison for doing the things William raps about, and he stole the mans look too with the beard and bald head, it's way too much for me to overlook as a music fan.

If you ask people who Rick Ross is they're gonna tell you he is a rapper from Miami who did this and that and blah blah blah, not even knowing there is a person that exists with that government name (which William denied getting his name from also).  The real Rick Ross is in prison, he is a part of history, he is a part of our government's corrupt history, he is a part of the real drug problem that we have today which is history, this man has expressed that he is not proud of what he's done and he was swindled by the government, cats run around like it's cool to emulate that image.  Look up Freeway Ricky Ross and the CIA.

Let's take a look at Slick Rick for instance, one of the greatest rappers of all time.  He rapped about funny stories, getting robbed and frontin' for girls and in the big scheme of things he actually was a street cat who ended up shooting some one and going to jail.  So even if that is the way you are as a street cat or a thug or a gangster, you can be a creative, talented person and not have to walk around sticking your chest out for everyone, music should be your escape from that.  By bragging about that type of stuff you will have more problems because then people want to test that.  Why would you lie about that if that is not you?  Especially if you have talent and are appreciated for other things you can bring to the table.

As far as him being a C.O. I could care less.  I know some C.O.s who are not saints and they do it for whatever reason they do it but they don't lie about it.  Everyone knows what they do and they still get respect in the community.  This guy has denied the fact so many times only to come out and say it was him in the pictures but he did it because he was ordered to by some street cats.  So then why was he beefin' with Trick Daddy for supposedly confirming that?  Why did DJ Vlad get PHYSICALLY HURT for putting that out there?

Even if he did sell drugs or did whatever he said he did, and was moving weight like that, cause he's not rapping about hand to hand sales, he raps about airplanes flying in from over seas with dope on them, lol, why is he on record snitching on himself???  Why is he promoting this image to kids??  Why is he lying about having a real job and only glorifying the drug side and the materialism of it all??  Why doesn't he speak about the dangers of this since some of his supposed friends got locked up or were killed??

His music has no substance, some of the beats are hot and he is talented as far as putting words together but he needs to switch his content and start being himself, maybe it's too late for all of that now....  The numbers are about to come in right now for the (the rapper) Rick Ross' album Deeper Than Rap first week sales, so I will see soon how much any of this matters and what affect it's having on our society.

P.S.  If you think being a gangster and a drug dealer is a more popular theme in music than being yourself and talking about YOUR experiences in life then take a look at Will Smith, probably the highest paid rapper ever paid from the entertainment business.

This is just my opinion and since the rapper Rick Ross is always dissing bloggers and claims he doesn't follow what happens on the internet (another lie, I'm supposed to beleive having money and travelling leaves you exempt from having to keep up with technology, if your so rich you should have every device known to man that will help you follow it more) he most likely will not even read this, but i do wish him luck and hope he finds himself.

Until next time, fasten your seat belts!!

One last note...
The funny thing is I was actually starting to like William's music until I saw this interview.  And for the record I was a Trick Daddy fan before I was a 50 fan, so this video disturbed me, I never even questioned Trick Daddy's realness or honesty, certain people you just don't, I guess it's the way they present themselves...

Friends create a painting of hope for jeweler injured in stairwell collapse

Wednesday, April 15th 2009, 4:00 AM ..
The artists at the condemned Queens building where a staircase collapsed on top of jeweler Nicole Gagne last week did what they do best Tuesday - they painted.
In large, sweeping strokes, they sprayed "Get Well Soon, Nicole" on the Jackson Ave. side of the Long Island City building, the one side that has not been condemned by the city Buildings Department since Friday's collapse.
"When she's able to see what we did and understand what we did, I think she will appreciate it," said Jonathan (Meres) Cohen, 36, who has run 5Pointz, the building's exterior mural space, since 2002.
An external staircase collapsed on top of Gagne, 37, a Parsons School of Design-trained jeweler, asshe left her artist studio to head home around 5:15 p.m. She was pulled out of the rubble and transported to Bellevue Hospital, where she remained in critical condition Tuesday.
To help pay for her medical expenses, Cohen and other artists are organizing a fund-raiser, which they are hoping to hold within the next two months at nearby P.S. 1 Contemporary Art Center.
Write to meresone@aol.com. for information on how to help Gagne.

Mural was done by Meres, Lordroc, Dizm and DJ Charm.  See the pictures in my photo gallery under ARTWORK.

The Lordroc Virginia Mix 2009

Recently I took a trip to VA for two weeks to visit my good friend and collaborator Dirty Cay.  While there I recorded about 6 songs and made a few original beats on the side.  Since I couldn't upload all the songs right away I decided to make a sampler of my verses on one continuos track.

DOWNLOAD IT FREE on my home page!

In the coming weeks I'll be uploading some full versions of these songs along with an original track titled:  Unknown (Callings From Beyond) feat.  Ken Kal. aka Nasty Naive..

You can also check the Dirty Cay Productions page on my top freinds for full versions and other collaborations we've done in the past.

Thank you all for your continued support and check back frequently for updates!
