Here's my latest. I really should have made a guitar solo, but I couldn't think of one. Leaving it as it is...

Phew, finally managed a new song. It was really fun making this one and it came so quickly. Probably because there are only 2 chords! Yeah! Not totally happy with the vocals and not sure about the mix either seeing as this time I've been using seriously bass-heavy headphones and am not sure what sound-reality is anymore! Anyway, it's fun finishing a song and kicking back and listening to it.

I've decided to hold back on my recordings. The 2 songs I've done so far aren't what I'm heading for and other stuff I've come up with is just a bit boring. I want to do something more interesting and creative with the bumblebee bats. I've done safe little pop songs with Peach Boy... So for now, I'm in my bumblebee bat cave in song retreat.

Finally, I finished my second song - Better when you're dead.
I'm not sure about the quality of this one as I've been using £1 earphones from Asda to monitor the sound levels etc.
And no, it's not a suicide or murder song! The death of an idea...
Ooh, I'm relieved to have finished it - after having listened to this song about 1000 times, I've just about had enough of it.
It certainly is better when you're dead :-)

Well the bumblebee bats have a problem - my neighbours!
I've become so conscious of my neighbours that whenever I get round to recording a song, I just can't put any life into it for fear of upsetting them. The song ends up being really lacklustre and naff.
So, until I sort out that problem, Everything's broken...is going to have to look after things round here.
Oh, well.

In the past, I've just put up songs right after recording them, hardly arranging them and just leaving them as they come out. I'd like to veer away from that style with the bumblebee bats. Everything's broken...was a bit like that though as I was keen to just start my new project. But from now on, I have a vision for my music. Well... I've started getting some ideas down for a new song with a tentative title of 'It's much better when you're dead.' I've come up with the bare bones of the song, recorded the verse and arranged some of it on GarageBand. Up until now that would have been it - stick it up on MySpace! But, I'm going to avoid that and work on it some more. I carry my mobile phone around and listen to what I've done so far then come up with extra bits and melodies for the chorus etc.
I'm finding this a much more interesting creative process. Probably be a crap song though :-)

I got up at 9 am determined to write a proper song with my new equipment. By 4pm I was done. I'd only stopped for a 5 minute lunch of curry and brown bread and had turned the walls yellow from cigarette smoke, but it was worth it - the bumblebee bats had their first tune: Everything's broken like it should be.
I went from horns to guitar to trumpets and settled with trumpets for the solo that goes throughout the song. I wish I had a trumpet now...
