The Deer track "Projectionist's Nightmare" is featured as part of the soundtrack for the absolutely gorgeous online comic book "Manmachine". This is science fiction at its best, hopefully there'll be many follow-ups to this epic in the making.

I finally got around to encoding the liveset from STFU Helsinki. It's a little rough around the edges, but it was my first experience using the Monome 40h controller in a live situation and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out - and it did get a bunch of people dancing as well.

You can download the whole thing over on regicide.org.

I'm very happy to announce that my new EP, "Track Delay" is now available as free download on the new Ekwal Netlabel. Head on over there for the download! Here's the text info about it:

http://www.ekwal.co.uk

Ekwal is a new independent netlabel dedicated to making exploratory, minimal techno with an emphasis on live performance. Ekwal..s artists approach music from very different directions, but they share a common desire to produce deep, subtle, sounds aimed directly at the dancefloor. Ekwal is currently planning releases by artists from around europe, including releases from "deer", "rob park", "red shift" and "dug".

Releases on Ekwal:

EKL_001 : deer : track delay ep

Ekwal's first release is a collection of 4 tracks by "Deer" aka Martin Hirsch, featuring a blend of fieldrecordings and experiments in techno and electro. While the first three tracks explore various aspects of the four-on-the-floor paradigm, the last cut, "Stationary", features an excerpt from a living room livejam with Source Records founder "Move D". The "Track Delay EP"was mastered by John McCaig at PanicStudios, Seattle. Deer has previously released as "random noise productions" on Neo Ouija and Hippocamp. His website can be found at http://www.regicide.org.

If you're into electronic music, netaudio, glasgow or shutting the fuck up you should definitely check it out.

here's the press blurb:

STFU Glasgow - Netaudio in the Real World

This documentary follows the STFU Glasgow music festival, featuring concert footage, visuals and interviews with many of the participating musicians. In six chapters the film explores various aspects of contemporary electronic music production and distribution, with an emphasis on the democratization of the music production tools and the Internet as a space for distribution and communication.

STFU is an international non-profit collective of musicians, netlabels and promoters who organize concerts of electronic and experimental music. After successful events in Manchester, Glasgow and Leeds, STFU now travels to the European mainland and beyond: For 2006, events are planned in Boston, Chester, Helsinki and Weimar.
