My dear friend Flash Bathory passed away last night at the ripe young age of 19 years, 3 months and 5 days

Flash was an inspiration to me from the moment I met her because I saw the young version of myself in her. Whenever I was in Texas, (or Nashville last month), I'd let her be my guitar tech, hang around with me and I'd introduce to everyone I possibly could, because I knew she was destined for greatness, and she still is.

Although she played in a style of guitar I've never been known for "Shredding" everyone that saw this 5' guitar Goddess play would stop in their tracks and stare in disbelief at her self confidence and musical ability way beyond her years

She was also a sweetheart and a beautiful person inside and out . . One story out of many I remember is that 3 months ago she drove an hour outside of Austin, to a Honky Tonk dive bar, not even knowing if she could get in because she was under legal drinking age . . All because she said I should have friends around me on my birthday and she wanted to hang out with me on that special day . .

She liked to call herself my protege, which is funny because I probably got more inspiration from her then the other way around.. :-)

Flash was a great artist with talent, drive and potential to make it big in the music world. Like many of the Greats, Flash left us too soon. She will missed and always remembered by those who had the chance to know her. And I am sure she will be welcomed with open arms to the great guitar jam in the sky. Jimi, Stevie, Duane, Randy, Dimebag... Lookout, the goddess of shred is coming!

It was a very exciting and rewarding evening for both the audience and judges as 10 of the world's best guitarist stepped on the stage in San Francisco's Great American Music Hall for GUITAR PLAYER MAGAZINE'S GUITAR HERO 2007 competition. One by one they had play before celebrity judges JOE SATRIANI, GREG HOWE, STEVE LUTHAKER, MIKE VARNEY, NUNO BETTENCOURT and ELLIOT EASTON.

When the smoke had cleared, the Judges had said there peace and made their Decision. LADD SMITH from Nashville, TN was declared the winner while DANNY B. HARVEY and LES ROBOT came in Second and third.

All the guitarists were amazing and a lot of different styles and genres were represented. In early November GUITAR PLAYER MAGAZINE will be posting the videos of all 10 performances on their website.

Danny B. has been selected, along with 9 other guitarists, from hundreds of guitarists around the world by the staff of GUITAR PLAYER MAGAZINE to compete for the title of GUITAR PLAYER MAGAZINE'S GUITAR HERO COMPETITION.

The event takes place in San Francisco on October 12th at the GREAT AMERICAN MUSIC HALL. The event will also be broadcasted live on the web by GUITAR PLAYER MAGAZINE. PLease check out this link for more info . . and of course wish DANNY the best . . :-)

GUTAR PLAYER MAGAZINE GUTAR HERO COMPETITION

Finally the wait is over, Wanda Jackson's new CD "I Remember Elvis" will be released on Jan 31, 2006. As you might or might not know, Danny B (myself in 3rd person) produced and played guitar on this CD. Legendary drummer Clem Burke from Blondie played drums. Don Randi. Pianist for countless artists including The Beach Boys, Dean Martin, Nancy Sinatra and Ricky Nelson, played piano on the CD. Don is also the owner of the Baked Potato, a long-standing world famous Jazz club here in Los Angeles. Elvis Costello wrote the liner notes, which are very complimentary. To Kick off the CD release, Danny B along with Don Randi, Dave Raven and Jonny Bowler (Guana Batz) will be backing Wanda Jackson for a live in-store appearance on Feb 1st at Amoeba Records on Sunset Blvd. In Hollywood CA. The show starts at 7:00pm and will last until 7:30 or 7:40. Please come see us and please buy the CD hen it's released you won't be disappointed.
