....

Hello lovely friends!

How are you today?

Just a quick little thing.  Firstly, we are still alive. We know things have been moving rather slowly but we're so many and we live in different parts of the world, and so forth.
But we have good news and they are:

1. we're doing a recording session in March. If all goes well that'll be half the new album done! And we're doing the second half in June so we should have an album out in the fall some time.

2. But I dare promise you we'll give you a ittle treat before that. In not too long at all I would think.

3. In the meantime, I am in the process of recording my own songs. You can hear a little bit here: http://www. myspace. com/milbergmakesmusic and a video (for a third song) will be up shortly.

4. Also if you like the Milberg tunes you can keep one of them. I have given the track called Lovestruck to charity. Check the blog on my Myspace for more info on where to download it.

Lots of love,
Lisa and The (rest of) Concretes x

On Sep 3 we'll be playing our first show in Stockholm in over a year! At The Amnesty Festival at Debaser Medis.

We do it because we care about human rights and because we like to play.
And also our dear friends PBJ are playing! And First Floor Power! And Kullrusk! More info about this lovely little festival can be found here:

It's gonna be a marvellous night and we really can't wait.

And surely neither can you.

THANK YOU FOR THE MUSIC is a compilation that we've put together featuring 21 of Sweden's finest contemporary artists!

Rough Trade Shops calls it the best and most cohesive compilation they've heard in years and Pitchfork reckons that "as a jump-off point, a gift for friends, or just the perfect mixtape for a summertime stroll,Thank You ought to work wonders".

It's released by our label Licking Fingers, hits Scandinavian stores tomorrow, you can get it via Rough Trade as of yesterday and digitally it'll be available globally from tomorrow too, via Licking Fingers mp3 shop!

AND we're obviously not gonna pass on this perfect opportunity to throw a party! Tomorrow night, Pet Sounds Bar, Sthlm, from 7pm!
Various Concretes will be hitting the decks and both Frida Hyvönen and Anna Järvinen have promised to swing by and sing you a couple of songs...
Needless to say, it'll be marvellous!

Do join us!

THANK YOU FOR THE MUSIC features: Anna Järvinen, Jens Lekman, Lykke Li, Those Dancing Days, Friska Viljor, Shout Out Louds, The Concretes, First Floor Power, pacific!, Kleerup, Radio Dept, Studio, Peter Morén, Loney Dear, Wildbirds And Peacedrums, El Perro del Mar, The Tiny, Frida Hyvönen, Speedmarket Avenue, Idiot Kid and Nicolai Dunger.

Paris was so very very fabulous. we had a splendid time from start to finish and we can't wait to go back. Big thanks to everyone for coming down to the show, for looking after us, for the roses, the drinks, everything. We love you.

Anyways, after the show we danced our feet off till sunrise but before the show we did this:

and then this

mildly electric and live from our dressing room.

Enjoy!

And as Friendly Fires puts it: One day we're gonna live in Paris. We promise, we're on it.

We're off to Paris next week!

We play a show at La Maronquiere (http://www.lamaroquinerie.fr/) on Tuesday, Apr 22, and then later that night we head to LeParisParis (http://www.leparisparis.com/) where Lisa will be playing some records for you all to dance to!
We're taking some time off touring to focus on writing new songs and reading good books so this will be the last show for a while. So if you have the chance you should put on something nice and come on down/up/over and help us make it a special night!

Oh, more reasons to celebrate: Hey Trouble is out in France on Apr 21 on the lovely T Rec label. They've thrown in some bonus songs too, so you get more Concretes for you more money.

love always and we hope to see you in Paris,

Great news!
Hey Trouble comes out in Australia + New Zealand on March 29!
It's the terrific Etch n' Sketch label that's putting it out and to make it extra
special we've given them some fabulous, rare concrete tunes that they've stuck
on a bonus disc that you get for free when you buy the album.
We're such a generous bunch.

Check our top friends for more info on Etch n' Sketch.

be good,

Hey folks,

We're off to Taiwan next week!
We're very honoured to have been invited to the Taipei International Human Rights Day on Dec 15, where we will play a show at 8.45pm, at the CKS Memorial Hall.

We'll also do a club gig the following day, Dec 16 at 8pm @ The Wall live house.

http://smileovni.blogspot.com/2007/12/concretes-taipei-concerts.html

And it stays good: On Jan 9, we're kicking off the brand new 2008 (well, according to the Gregorian calendar) with a show in our very own Stockholm, Sweden. It's been a long while since we last played Stockholm and this is at The Very Best Of Ugglan-festival at Mosebacke so that's pretty swell.

That's all for now, if we don't see you in Taiwan we wish you a marvellous Christmas and a perfect 2008.

/The Cx

Ps. some of us are sticking around a few extra days in Taiwan so if you have any tips on what we should do, eat, see, drop us a line! ds

Hey folks,
Two good news:

Our new EP Keep Yours is out in Scandinavia today! And in the UK on Oct 15. Wherever you are you can buy it digitally via our myspace or website now! You can also listen to the songs there first.

After Keep Yours, which is taken from the album Hey Trouble, the tracklisting looks like this and includes remixes from two of Sweden's finest:
2. Keep Yours KLEERUP REMIX - Kleerup is the Stockholm madman/whizzkid who wrote and produced Robyn's UK 1 single, With Every Heartbeat. This remix was Popjustice's Song Of The Day the other week.
3. Keep Yours pacific! REMIX - pacific! is the fabulous Gothenburg duo famous for their trademark harmonies and Dennis Wilson style productions.
4. Last but not least is a brand new version of the Hey Trouble's lonesome marching drum ballad, Souvenirs. This one is called the Dreams Version and it's quite different from the original...

Keep Yours will also be available as a 7" in the UK starting next week. With the original version on one side and the Kleerup remix on the other.
---------------------------

Also, check out the new spring/summer 08 collection from Prada's sister label MIU MIU. Yes, that IS Maria Concrete's portrait printed on several of the super short dresses!
Miucca Prada got in touch with Swedish illustrator (and long time honorary concrete) Liselotte Watkins and bought a few of her illustrations for the new collection. When it was presented on the catwalk in Paris this Sunday it was evident that Maria was the favourite however, with 6 gorgeous dresses carrying her portrait!
Prada's seal of approval will probably mean a lot for Watkins' career as an illustrator and for us this gives a whole new meaning to being able to wear original and customised stage outfits, now that we are quite literally in fashion...
