"It Has Happened"An exhibition on photography, curated by Philip Tonda Dec 12. - Jan 03. 2010
Artists: Lutz Baumann / Aline Biasutto / Daniel Holfeld / María-Alejandra Huicho / Sibyll Kalff / Scotty Lawrence and Andrew Scott Ross / Evi Lemberger / Anke Loh / Eduardo Goulart de Macedo / 'Chia' Nurhamsiah / Vincenzo Pandolfi / Simona Da Pozzo / Valérie Prot / Anahita Razmi / Andrew Schroeder / Jordan Tate / Anjana K.V. / Keren Zaltz
I H H is a show that embraces photography, and looks into its quality of being readable as documenting reality.
Even though this notion has been challenged by artists and discussed endlessly, the photograph is still to a large extend connected to the idea of capturing the real. Weather it's the artists' intention or not, the viewer will most often emideately connect a photo directly to reality and look for some kind of narrative, different than when viewing e. g. a painting.
The exhibition I H H plays with this notion, and shows photos that exist on the borderline between being completely autonomous and being actual references to situations of the past.
TPTP invites you to come and experience the 18 different worlds of 18 different photo works made by 19 different artists.
Each photo is accompagned by a contextualizing writing by the artist which is to be found on a separate leaflet. http://www.tptpspace.tk (please use copy&paste, if the link does not work ...)

Process Festival Berlin // Call for Proposals
Date: 2009-12-02, 6:31PM CET Reply to: gigs-enw4u-1491540124@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]
PROCESS Festival Berlin is now accepting proposals for performances and new-media work, to be shown at our 2 day festival in mid-March 2010.
The Festival seeks to highlight new and compelling work in the field of generative or process music - focusing on sound pieces which are inspired by or emulate algorithms, biology, or other defined systems.
From scores generated from nature (Mamoru Fujieda's "Patterns of Plants") or mathematics (John Cage's "Sonatas and Interludes"), to interactives which allow users to create music (Brian Eno's Bloom for iPhone) or a system as simple as 2 tape recorders ("It's Gonna Rain" by Steve Reich), this space has enjoyed a compelling history.
As well as the traditional execution of code outputting music, we're also interested in projects which expand the definition or approach to this field. This could, for example, including hardware-based projects like custom instruments, more lo-fi, organic systems, or hybrids such as a string quartet playing a generative score.
Web-based new-media projects will be shown onsite via a Macbook with wireless connection, as well as linked via the festival website. Performances should be between 20 and 40 minutes long, to allow a diverse selection of pieces over the festival period.
We're unable to offer any artist compensation or provide travel costs to the event, although composers outside of the Berlin area are encouraged to partner with local artists to perform works. Please contact us if you're interested in this avenue.
Please e-mail us with your name, short bio, contact details, type of work and a description of your project. "Long Distance Dosophon" S. Kalff 2009

" BookArt/Central Booking NYC"Dear Friend of Central Booking,
I am writing to you about Central Booking, a unique international art gallery dedicated to the entire breadth and scope of “the book” as art, which opened on September 10, 2009 in the DUMBO section of Brooklyn. Many of you have contributed artwork and hours of time to launch Central Booking and have supported the space through your attendance at events and purchase of artwork. All of your support to date has taken Central Booking a long way towards being the kind of visionary and supportive space originally imagined.
Central Booking’s layout combines the informality of a store with the selectivity and installation of a gallery. To achieve this mission, the physical layout of Central Booking has two distinct but integrated spaces: · Gallery I is dedicated to Book Art and Prints · Gallery II is reserved for thematic exhibitions. These exhibitions showcase an unusually broad variety of genres while always integrating the participation/work of a number of book artists. The initial exhibition in Gallery II was Natural Histories, the first in a series of explorations where art meets science. The second exhibition in the series, Anthropology: Revisited, Reinvented, Reinterpreted is currently on view. It includes a new installation created around the large book, Circular River, by Kahn & Selesnick, which many of you had the opportunity to see in Gallery I.
Central Booking's innovative integration of spaces is organic, as many book artists work in other media as well: painting, sculpture, installation and video art. Indeed, book art often incorporates these other genres to create truly original multi-media works. Participating artists range from those who are well known to the New York audience, including Mary Frank, Ana Mendieta, and Buzz Spector, to young and international artists who will be introduced.
Central Booking is ready to take the next big step in its development, introducing new programs, completing the website, and securing a long-term lease among a number of issues, which are of immediate importance for the growth and stabilization of Central Booking. The website, www.centralbookingnyc.com will have a virtual gallery to showcase the work, biography, links to websites and other information for each participating artist, which will allow artists an online venue to direct those interested in their work. The work will be immediately accessible to curators, collectors and other interested supporters, providing a great service to both these constituents and the artists themselves. Building on its interactive orientation, Central Booking’s major online presence will continue to grow. In addition to the easy purchase of art work the website will have a center of educational information, including a magazine highlighting the artists and their works, scholarly articles and related news items; a home for special web-based projects; subscription series for the purchase of certain works at limited-time special pricing; portfolios of prints of select artists available for purchase; and an events calendar.
These initiatives, which will provide major services to support the over 100 participating artists, need additional funding in order to be developed to their full potential. Your end of year contribution will greatly aid in the timely completion of the website in particular.
Central Booking is a sponsored project of Fractured Atlas, a non-profit arts service organization. Contributions on behalf of Central Booking may be made payable to Fractured Atlas and are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.
There is a link on the right side of Central Booking’s home page at www.centralbookingnyc.com to the Fractured Atlas website, where it is possible to make contributions for Central Booking directly online in amounts up to $5,000.
Or, if you prefer, you may send contributions directly to Central Booking, 111 Front Street, Gallery 214, Brooklyn, NY 11201. Checks should be made payable to Fractured Atlas, on behalf of Central Booking NYC, Inc. in the memo line.
Through the Fractured Atlas fiscal sponsorship program Central Booking is eligible to receive matching funds from donors’ employers, so be sure to check if your company supports its employees’ charitable contributions through a corporate matching program.
Please don’t hesitate to contact me about Central Booking’s unique exhibitions and programs, join Central Booking on Facebook, sign up for our mailing list, check for updates on the website, and let me know of any questions you have about a contribution you would like to make – every contribution large or small strengthens Central Booking and allows its goals to be achieved.
Thank you for your generous support.
Sincerely, Maddy Rosenberg Executive Director/Curator Central Booking NYC, Inc. maddyrosenberg@centralbookingnyc.com From the "Little Book Series" S.Kalff (2004 f.f.) >>> click! >>> click!
