REVOLUTION; noun; [rev-uh-loo-shuhn]: A sudden or momentous change in a situation.
The
Underground Revolution is about stepping into the looking glass and
realizing that there is more to this world than just you. It's
realizing that faith, by itself, if not accompanied by action, is dead.
It's the truth that you don't have to travel thousands of miles to make
a difference when its right in front of your eyes. By coming together
we can make a difference and help the hopeless. Start small, break out
of your comfort zone, see the problems of this world, and start a
revolution.
The Underground Revolution primarily exists to:
-Advocate for the homeless.
-Help raise awareness about homelessness and poverty in the United States of America.
-Sponsor any efforts to help meet the needs of the less fortunate.
-Befriend the homeless, and make genuine meaningful relationships with our friends in poverty.
The statistics are alarming and only growing worse every day. 1 in
every 5 children in the United States of America lives in extreme
poverty, and 1 in every 50 children in the USA face homelessness. In
the Dallas, Texas area alone close to 10,000 people sleep starving
outside on the streets every night. Our society no longer understands
what "community" means. Have we forgotten that "Love your neighbor as
you love yourself" was not a suggestion, but a command? 200 years ago
entire towns would gather together to build one family's home or to
build one farmer's barn. They would eat together, take care of each
other, and they made sure that everyone had enough to survive. Sadly,
as generations pass and technology rises our sense of community has
slowly dwindled away until it has become no more.
I have a desire, need, and calling to show love and
compassion to those in poverty, but I also have the same desire, need,
and calling to teach towns, cities, and communities how to be neighbors
again and help build/rebuild communities. Unfortunately for some reason
in the United States of America we don't take a notice to the fact that
we can be meeting all of those needs right here in our own country!
While there is absolutely nothing wrong with going overseas to feed the
hungry, build homes for the homeless, we need to be taking care of our
own neighbors right here in our very own country as well.
The Underground Revolution is currently a
nonprofit organization in the state of Texas, and should soon be
nationally 501c3 nonprofit very soon.
We currently help
sponsor a group in Dallas, TX and a group in Lubbock, TX that feed and
clothe the homeless in their communities. We currently partner with a
few music artists and one small record label. We only receive monetary
help right now from one music artist as they are able to donate and by
our volunteers who feed the people. In order to set up a steady tour of
communities to rebuild, cities where we teach the people how to take
care of each other (like the Dallas and Lubbock groups are doing), and
Advocacy and Awareness tours we need enough monetary support to keep us
going. Our current estimate to achieve all of the following is between
$2,000-$3,000 monthly depending on the city need. We will hold special
fund raisers in each city for costs above the monthly need. The monthly
need will cover transportation costs, basic supply costs, and pay any
staff only what is needed to cover small monthly bills.
