Winter has quickly settled in upon Minneapolis and St. Paul.

Outside there are short days, windchill, and weird animal footprints in the snow.

Parking lots appear chaotic with snow covered lane markings missing from sight.

These studio machines seem to prefer being inside to offset the coldness in the night.

Slappy Recordings welcomes 3 friends to this latest release SR002.

Sharing songs that are all variations on one theme - "People North of the Equator made this music"

I don't know if that is really the theme, but if it was, then these would be the perfect soundtrack in my opinion.

Another Minneapolis wildchild - Heckadecimal cracked the whip on his machines like a ring leader making "Circus Pate"

Johnny Orin from Bielsko, Poland shares "Miss S Part 3"

http://www.myspace.com/johnnyorin

Vadz (aka Russian Techno Secret Weapon) from Taganrog in the Russian Federation brings "Cosmosis"

http://www.myspace.com/vadz

Also a track from myself after two drum machines thought they could sue me for poor sync signals - turned out to be a faulty midi cable. "Malprakktice" is right.

Thanks to these 3 fantastic and varied producers who've have taken the
time to share some of their sonic sculptures with this EP.

It is available exclusively through Input/Output.

Another one of life's random finds. A VHS tape my friend Dan filmed goofing around in Duluth back around 1993. Gave it a quick slice n' dice and put in a fitting tempo beat to tuck it into YouTube for the night.  See what happens when the seatbelt law is not observed. Turn around and buckle up.

Why oh why oh why? Ha!

Mornin' all.
Started adding a few cuts from the Surfin' Superior double pack up on youtube so people can listen to them before I get this next set of acid tracks released.

A1 Mix Away

B1 Bob Barker's House

B2 My Friend Frampton

Side C and D will be up tonight or tomorrow.
Enjoy the day and make those machines sweat and howl.

Current mood:  triumphant
Headed to the polls early this morning with my 3 year old daughter on the way to work.  We got into the booth to vote and she verbally announced that she was picking "Hot Air Balloon" as her choice.  As swayed as I usually am by her insightful decisions, I had to follow my roots and choose the opponent "Led Zeppelin".  We looked over the ballot, but couldn't find them on them listed as choices.  Something must have happened to the real ballots.  What is happening out there?

Go Vote Everyone!

Zak aka dvs1 will be thumping it for the first part of the night as well.  Back to programming some noises and beats for the quiver that night.

Good Mornin' funny sunny skies.

Thanks for the feedback ya freaks.

Had a fun time Sat. night and it was great to see people out having a good time as well. I enjoyed getting to bring out a few machines to noodle with so thanks Aaron and the BLACK crew who invited me down. Zak..you had the choice cuts with which is why I was parked out on the floor with my drink for a bit after wiring things up.

Nerdy gear list for those who were peaking and pointing and asking. I think this was everything.

Akai MPC1000 (running Bootleg JJ os 2)
DSI Evolver
Acidlab Bassline ver. 2
Dwarfcraft Devices Power Struggle pedal (starves voltage to other gear)
Tech21 Acoustic guitar eq/preamp pedal
TSP Teaspoon
TSP Pollen
Nord Lead 2 rack synth
Novation DrumStation ver. 2
Alesis SR-18
TSP Molester (Korg MS-20 filter section and crazy distortion with CV control)
Frostwave FAT sequencer
Eric Archer Drone Commander aka Grendel (synth in the ammo case-modded to allow CV filter input control and gate trigger outs from the pulses of the square waves).
Acid Screamer distortion pedal ver. 2

Behringer mixer for the live shows..stopped bringing the studio mixers out many years ago after beer spills and other damage. These are cheap and easy to replace.

I think this was a warm up for Halloween..everything in the machines has been erased (as usual) and we'll be going a whole lot darker and a bit harder. Hopefully get to crack open a portal to some hellish audio hound sounds.

See you on the other side (of Hennepin Ave!)

**TONEWRECKER UPDATE**

In the midst of getting all the labels sorted out we now have transferred the latest 4 tracker over to the input/output site to make available to you all.

All sorts of good nasty stuff on this one from three other talents who submitted a great assortment of tracks across the spectrum.  Big "thanks" to you guys for your patience while this one came together.

Steph
BeNi

I'm sure all of you are familiar with their ongoing musical adventures, but if not go look them up.

Could be techno
Could be electro
Could be video game music
Could be noise
Could be a lazy Sunday afternoon floating in the river until a bolt of lightning hits the water.
Could be a cartoon soundtrack.
My musical moods change daily and a lot of times the machines decide the direction of the songs.  They don't always fit into release schedule for a "regular" label so I'm putting them out directly to you on my own.
Oh..and I seem to make a bunch of silly random doodles in between breathing and blinking and whatever else is going on so each release will have a full page info sheet/arty thing to go with it.

Thank you for the support and/or feedback.  If you are wondering about the name "Slappy".  It's a reference to a basic curb grind in skateboarding where you are just fucking around and enjoying being on your board and cruising.  Nice and simple

alright..back to this imploding world we live in.

Slappy Recordings is up and running and available only at input/output.

**If you make original tracks/songs/audio haiku, etc..feel free to send over links to stuff. I'm open to any possibilities.

noise koncept compilation

A various artist compilation featuring all Minnesota-based musicians.
The rules were simple: Something noisy and problematic.
Genres cross; noise becomes harmony; problems are the solution.

This new net label just launched and they are offering a free download for the compilation that kicks off the Oct. 1st launch.

It has a wide variety of stuff on it and I provided them a track that gave the Harvestman Tyme Sefari a hefty workout with the control voltage changes.  I'm doing this noise stuff under the project name "The Cost of Trading".

enjoy.

1996 was a long time ago for me musically, but at the same time, it kind of feels recent with the turn of events in the track writing.  All the gritty blues stuff got the machines angry again and when that project finished up it was sounding..well..pretty close to the interaction with jams on Surfin' Superior that I put out on Communique.  Analog anarchy and funk grooves are running away again and I'm aiming to wrap up this Surfin Superior Version 2 ep in the next month.  I'm happy with reassembling an ensemble cast of machines that are pretty close to the original characters.  Actually they have made improvements in the subtle controls so it's easier to nudge them towards those accidents where things just sound right.  Now to find a home to press the vinyl.

And in case I don't mention it enough to any of you who happen to enjoy what I make.  THANKS FOR YOUR FEEDBACK AND SUPPORT OF THIS MUSIC.
