Just a reminder, tonight is the LAST Lo-Ball ever at Live Girls Theater in Ballard. After four years (two at Live Girls) of late-night comedy hi-jinx, the show is finally saying goodbye due to its theater space closing. Hosted as always by the People's Republic of Komedy's Paul Merrill, the final show will feature some of Seattle's favorite comedians including Lizzy Pilcher, Derek Sheen, Dartanion London, Jessica Strauss and several surprise guests. There will also be a full bar, which will surely be in high demand. Tickets are $5 at the door. All-ages. Doors open at 8:30pm / Show starts at 9pm. Lo-Ball @ Live Girls Theater 2220 NW Market St, Ballard For more info, go to www.ballardcomedy.com Official Press Release: - - - - - - - - For Immediate Release Contact: Paul Merrill People's Republic of Komedy 206.380-6571 mr.paulmerrill@gmail.com http://www.ballardcomedy.com Ballard Comedy Show's last hurrah on Dec 4th Seattle, WA –Nov 23, 2009 – Lo-Ball, the Local Ballard Comedy show, will be ending its remarkable four year run on December 4th. Produced by Paul Merrill and Jessica Strauss of the People's Republic of Komedy, the popular alt-comedy show has been a staple of the Ballard arts scene for years, showcasing Seattle's emerging comedy talent and occasionally welcoming big-name comedians like SNL's Hannibal Buress and Chelsea Lately regular T.J. Miller. Starting as a humble open mic at a coffee shop, Lo-Ball moved into Live Girls Theater in 2008 and quickly evolved into a late-night cult hit, offering comedians a chance to try out new material in a quirky, unpredictable fringe theater experience. When Live Girls decided not to renew the lease on their Market Street theater space, Merrill decided it was as good a time as any to end the show. "We've been doing Lo-Ball, in one form or another, for four years," said Merrill. "That's a pretty good run for a no-budget comedy show. Also, it's a great excuse to throw a party." Lo-Ball has been through this before, of course. After a falling out with their first venue, the show was homeless for several months in 2008. Instead of packing it in, the producers decided to perform for free at Bergen Place Park, before finally finding a home at Live Girls Theater. Could history repeat itself? "I'm not going back to the park." says Merrill. "At least not during the winter. It's cold! If the right situation came up where a venue in Ballard offered us a space, I certainly would consider it. Right now, I'm looking forward to taking a little break." The final Lo-Ball show (at least for now) will be on Friday December 4th at 9pm at Live Girls Theater in Ballard. The show will feature many favorite comedians from over the years, including Dartanion London, Lizzy Pilcher, and Derek Sheen and several surprise guests. Current mood:USA! USA!

The stars and stripes will be flying this July as the People's Republic of Komedy (PROK) presents "Paul Merrill's All-American Salute to America, USA", a satirical look at American history and patriotism on July 1st and 3rd.

The shows, at Chop Suey on July 1st and Live Girls Theater on July 3rd, will feature some of the best comedians in Seattle, including Emmett Montgomery, Kevin Hyder, Derek Sheen, and Amanda Williams.

Presented in two parts ("Part One: The Early Years" and "Part Two: The Awesome Years") "Paul Merrill's All-American Salute to America, USA" will be hosted by PROK veteran writer/performer Paul Merrill (naturally), who will be presenting his own unique take on America throughout the night with videos and sketches.

"With Obama in office, patriotism is at an all-time high in Seattle," says Merrill.  "We're going to bump it up a notch with wrestling Lincolns, a Dick Cheney robot and hopefully President Taft in a bathtub."

The musical guest for Part One of "Paul Merrill's All-America Salute to America, USA" will be Can You Imagine, the new pop combo featuring "Hate" cartoonist Peter Bagge and legendary record producer Steve Fisk. For Part Two at Live Girls Theater, Stranger Gong Show winner Airpocalypse will be providing the music.
