"Floating Aimlessly"
It's for a "science fiction" theme comp put out by Tethered Records (tetheredrecords@myspace.com). Not sure when it will be made available for free download as of just yet. Will update when it is completed and provide you with the link.
Worked in layers. Lots and lots of layers. Looped a riff that I played on a bent keyboard+ added reverb, added some droned "meditational" sounds and glitchE-ness. Fades in and out. It turned out alright.
Probably will work on a few more new tracks soon. Feels good to do some work again. Heck even thought of a new album title while I typed this
LOOK OUT MUSCLE BOY YOUR HEART IS A JELLO MOLD THE RESURGENCE OF IGLOO MARTIAN
more details forthcoming. Cool Man Igloo

I used to write poetry and also painted. I used to go under the name Marcus Robiason. I haven't done either in a really long time. Today is the first time in over 4 years that I have wrote anything other than music. I have no idea why today I decided to write this, it just arrived during my morning coffee. I hope you enjoy it.
Recreational Abuse or the Long Living Worm Face
A poem by Marcus Robiason
I have been told that my feet have toes, and the same to you. I travelled far to receive the abuse. It was a tough, long ride. Stopping for air, but forgetting that my mouth was gaged with sticks that have fallen from the trees. I did say yes to the branches, even tho I thought it was kind of kinky at first. I bleed resistance but don't stand up for myself. I like washing things but only when they are not dirty. I just soaked my keys in urine. They dangle next to my zipper on a clip made for retards. I realize that I am choking now, just like a real human. In time, I will remove all of the power plugs and introduce my self to the almighty darkness. One on one, just like a singles tennis match. Recreational abuse is fun, if you don't wear tight clothes or the color blue. I see the the light and its in the form of hitting one's self repeatedly with a hand me down belt first worn by one's father. Oh how I laughed, once, in the tunnel of the marshmallow freedom. I scream at the top of my lungs, "LONG LIVE THE WORM FACE."

Finally some new tracks- I recently recorded 7 new tracks! I want to record at least 7 more tracks for this new cd/ free downloadable album. I decided to call the collected tracks "The Movement Disorder".
Hope I can engineer some more tracks if not I'll just label it as an ep.

Yesterday I purchased a wobo buffer booster pedal brand new-ish for 9.99 at the local pawn shop-goes for around 75.00 new and it is awesome. I also pick up a Behringer Ultra-G DI-box 4x12 Cab simulator for 9.99 at the same pawn shop. Not as good of a deal as the before-mentioned wobo- but it is nice to have a cheap DI Box.
Today I Purchased a 40$ Squier Chinese made strat from a guy off of Craigslist- it need 15$ worth of parts-a new 5 way switch and two tuners. I replaced the broken tuners and the 5-way switch cleaned it up a bit-oiled the fret boards. The guy wanted 60$ but I talked him down due to the shape it was in. After the tune up, it now sounds great! I was surprised- kind of hollow sounding- but still good enough for my project needs. It also came w/ a guitar stand which needed some foam around the top, but fixed that up too-extra tidbit for free, nice.
Sent/"asked nicely"- my brother on a craigslist run near by him for a 10 dollar broken Boss dd-3 pedal. The listing says that it does not pass sound but it will make-generate weird sounds. It may just have a loose input wire, who knows? Can't wait to hear its crazy sounds. I really hope I can fix it- going to give it a try, open it up once I get it next tuesday. Worth the try at that price.
As for the bad luck- I purchased a fully dead casio SK-1 at the goodwill for 3.99. Probably could take it back for a refund but am deciding to keep it for the parts, just incase I need the keys or the case, who knows?

-This is for Joey.
"Share something about yourself."
My name is Robert Clark and I am the circuit bender/ performance artist =
Igloo Martian.
My first insight/chance encounter with the world of circuit bending came from a simple google search. In 2005 I typed the words "what makes Sonic Youth an experimental band"??? From this quarry came an article or blog containing a sentence or sentences similar to these=
"Sonic Youth used or uses an old kids cassette recorder as a distortion pedal while recording and playing their guitars. Many have said it was a My First Sony-Many said it was an old Playskool cassette recorder."
I am sure they probably have used/use both. My curiosity to find out what/ which exactly they used and how, lead me into the arms of circuit bending. I don't remember exactly which or what sites I came across first. I do remember that I was a sponge and soaked up every tidbit of circuit bending knowledge that was on the web back then. Within hours of learning about circuit bending I joined the Yahoo Benders groups- benders and bendersanonymous. I gravitated to the local thrift shops daily, for the hunt. I bent/destroyed one toy after another.
Within the standards of the norm, I was and am not musically talented. I started out as an art brute/street painter. I never was professionally trained as a painter, no schooling. What I liked about being an outsider artist was that there are no guidelines, no limitations, no standards. You do not belong to a certain group or catagory. It was and is simply, what it is, a simple form of expression, a personal piece of art. I used to love to paint, it was my thing. I used to go by the name Marcus Robiason. Something went sour in my/the world of painting and I ended its romance. Who knows what? Although painting to me was dead, I still had/have the desire to create and express myself. The painter in me might of died but not the artist. By a chance google search- I found a new way of expression/ form of release=music.
With each toy build my desire to share my sounds with other benders grew. I found out about the Myspace Music Player from the benders groups and soon formed the handle Igloo Martian. At first it was used solely as a platform to share my sounds from which I have discovered inside of the toys/keyboards which I bent. There was no initial musicality or composing of the sounds. They simply were what they were, sounds/ noises made from my circuit bending attempts. After awhile, I started to use a free program "Audacity " to record and chop up/mashup my sounds and organize them into compositions. My first ever "song-song" was entitled M-26. I added every and any circuit bender to my friends list on myspace and developed friendships with many. I contacted a fellow bender, Igor Amokian and asked if he wanted to do a split album-my first real recordings. The album was put out on TigerClaw records/my brother Rodney's new founded circuit bent label. One thing lead to another and I found my self applying to perform at the first ever Mpls version of Bent Fest. I received an acceptance letter and was stoked. Only thing was I had never performed live prior to that. My first ever live performance was Mpls Bent Fest 2007. Crazy world!
Most of my recorded music is cut ups/mash ups and cant really be reproduced with out just playing a cd or a tape. This is something I did not want to do live, why would you want to? My live performance is simply a fusion of improv electronics. Mastering the sounds and the how to's of my equipment- much like a guitar player would play a guitar, so become my bentstruments. Nothing is ever duplicated-each performance is a new piece, all of its own, much like a one shot painting. Can you reproduce the Mona Lisa? Probably- but why would you want to? I just don't get it and probably never will. As an artist I have never been one that has the ability or want to reproduce a piece of work. Most of my creations have its own being/ time and place. As with time, so do I change. This failure to be able to reproduce may have ended my life as a painter. Some days I was able to paint within the lines and other days I was not so able. I was happy with that, although the world is not as forgiving. The public eye is your oppressor and your executioner. I just hope the public eye does not end my life as a musician. Who knows I may still one day paint again. Painting has and always will be my favorite form of expression. Circuit Bending- is really-just a medium to express- much like a guitar or a paint brush.
Thanks many to all that have been apart of my musical experience. cool man,
Igloo Martian

I guess its a common action for people to kill insects. The Neighbors use plenty of insecticide on their lawn-yucky. They sell fly swatters without a background check or a permit. Truth is that many/countless insects die by the hand of man. Those unexpectedly walked on by accident or ones stomped on without remorse.
What are your opinions about the killing of insects?
Is this Cruel? Is an insect a living being? Do you think its right for man to kill a fly which poses no threat other than an irritant?
I personally try my hardest not to kill insects. Usually I can shoe a fly away with out killing it. Sometimes I go the extra mile and remove irritants from inside- placing them unharmed in their suitable habitat of outside. I even try to free insects from spider webs. I know messing with the natural order of things- hee hee.
Why is this a big deal?
It's not- Obama just killed a fly on TV.
I know better than to judge- but witnessing this action, of him killing a fly, makes him more common than I thought.
p.s. I just hope it was not my reincarnated grandfather who died by the hands of Obama-JK- I don't personally believe in reincarnation, but there are those that do. Hmmm.
p.s.s. I just had a grand thought. What if Obama thought the fly was a North Korean spy drone-masquerading as a house fly?

This new track is kind of different from my other works-but hope you enjoy it none the less. Old school industrial/noise screamo? who knows? All I know is that I really enjoyed making this track. I plan on doing some more of this type of recording in the near future.
