Current mood: chipper
It's been a good few weeks. We're making good head-way with the album, and things are sounding hot hot hot. I think a few people thought we had gotten bored, dissappeared, split up or quit... eh, no!
Truth is, we were always being distracted from getting stuck in to the album by gigs and rehearsals, so we thought we would do the sensible thing and take a few months off from gigging in order to get this album out sometime this decade!
The album will have a few oldies on it (slow motion, exit sign etc) but re-jigged a bit to sound better and fit in the album. The newies (is that a term?) are cool. The Difference we've played a few times live and its had a good response. Aramis is finally called Aramis and nothing else. We had toyed with "Stroking a small pony sideways, gently' as suggested by a dear friend, but alas, wasnt the right tone!
Why Aramis? Well, all the songs in their half-baked phase (before all lyrics are written etc) get given a title relating to one of the three muskateers. We're not sure why, ask Omar. Lights Out was originally called 'The Return of Porthos', and Aramis was called 'The vagueracies of Aramis' - so despite a full set of lyrics, Aramis is what fans and friends have come to know that track as, so we've stuck with it. Oh and it sounds great!
Edit You Out is another 'newie' not 100% done yet, but rather cool - Futuro's first slow song (i know we said that about Slow Motion and it wasnt, and Aramis and it isnt) but this one *really* is. Its not skip-that-track slow, its the album closer i think and it has a wonderfully epic sound, and a string section in the chorus that really adds to things.
Impossible is awesome. Fast paced impossible guitar looping riff. Its impossible because one person cant play it live, but me and my looper can. Its mental.
Theres a few others in the works, but its early days yet. But aye, just wanted y'all to know why we're quiet just now - calm before the storm my friends! We're hoping the first single from the album will be out in Sep/Oct, another in Oct and Album in November - something like that - but you'll have it for christmas, dont you worry...
If you have any ideas for awesome song titles (we've ran out of musketeers) comment the blog and suggest away - why not!
see you soon - we'll have video clips of us studio-ing it soon too.
Oh... before we forget - stage6.com - hi-res awesome version of lights out video is up there, as well as info on our own record label 'retrocausal'. Its cool.

in a bizarre twist of fate recently, the futuro website at www.wearefuturo.com seems to have vanished. We're not sure whats going on, and can't get a hold of the people who host it. We're hoping its not all lost, as its obviously a bit of a set back if it is (an example of an understatement there).
Anyway, along with it our email has gone too, so use myspace messages to get in touch with us just now (or call us if you know the number ;) ) hopefully normal service will resule shortly!!!
See you on the other side!

Were hard at work getting this dvd prepared for a mid-october release (hopefully!), and we can reveal that the DVD release will co-incide with the release of a new download only single, and the promo video for which will appear on the dvd too! Other exciting news however is that next week sees us return to Edinburgh after our triumphant Fringe Sunday gig. If you were there on the day, come back and see us! This time people will be standing ;) But yeh, this should be a really good gig, at the Subway Cowgate, on the 14th September. We urge you to buy your tickets in advance from http://www.ticketweb.co.uk/user/?region=gb_scotland&query=detail&event=177918 The other mega-exciting news, is that the week after that, well be doing not one, but two gigs with the soon-to-be-megastars The Fratellis! These student freshers-week gigs are going to be mega! The first, at Strathclyde University (Glasgow) will be ourselves, The Dykeenies (the first signings to the legendary King Tuts Recordings) and of course The Fratellis. The second date is more of a festival, on the 23rd September at the QMU (Glasgow University). As well as us and The Frat there will be local heroes Union of Knives, The Hedrons, The Low Miffs, Injuns and more - both gigs not to be missed! In the meantime, wish us luck and come see us in Edinburgh! j x p.s. oh, and the cds are selling quik-fast! get yours now before they all go at www.wearefuturo.com !!

The Latest News From Casa Futuro! Well well well, what an eventful few weeks we've had! Apologies for the lack of updates in the last month or so, but since the ABC gig we've been swamped like a swamped thing on national swamp day, swampsville. Thanks to everyone who came along to the amazing ABC2 Launch Night last month. We had a great time, and it seems the crowd did too, so thank you. Not only that, but we'll be releasing a DVD of the whole thing (amongst promo videos and all sorts of extras) in October. More details on that shortly, but in the meantime you can see one of the tracks on our site to see kinda how it will look - hopefully you'll be impressed. Speaking of videos, the promotional video for Exit Sign is now available too! It's daft and fun, and a lot of fun to make. You can view both (as well as the classic Slow Motion video on our new video page on the website (link at the bottom of this message!) and also on the new sidebar to the myspace profile - just click on the pictures and be magically transported to the video of your choice! Let us know what you think! Other than that, the new release is going well. "Keep It Short and Keep It Simple" was released officially on the 7th August, and we are fast running out of copies. The 1000 limited run of CD's are flying off the proverbial shelves, and it looks like its going to sell out in the next few weeks. We urge you to get a copy asap, either at a gig, or online from our very own site! You can order using paypal, although you dont actually need a paypal account to buy, any credit card will do. Its £1.99 for UK buyers (inc P&P) and £4.99 for overseas (again inc p&p). For that low amount of cash, you will not only recieve a copy of the EP, but a bonus CD-R, containing all the other tracks to date, 2 remixes and the live version of "Next Time". Well worth the £1.99! You can order the EP at http://www.wearefuturo.com/cdorder/ - go on, get one before they sell out! The rest of the news in short: PRS Stage in Edinburgh was great, hello to our new friends who purchased cd's on the day! London went well, and the overall response was fantastic, the tour was great fun, and we of course have lots of new dates being added to the list every week - so get yourself along to one of them shows! Let us know what you think of the videos, and buy yourself a cd! Hope to hear from you soon! J, O & G x www.wearefuturo.com

Well! What an eventfull few weeks we've had, and a few more to come! First off, mega thanks to everyone who came to the T-Break Tent at T in the Park to make it a fantastic show. The tent was mobbed, the reaction was amazing and everyone seemed to have a great time, including us. Success! We never thought it would be as busy as it was, and we're very humbled - thank you! The weekend overall was great, we met a few "famous" folks (Queing for the toilet with Paul from Maximo Park was a highlight of mine!) and some of the band we saw were just amazing. If you havent seen the following bands live, you need to: Boy Kill Boy - amazing, iForward, Russia! - unbelievably good, Jack Butler - what a show! LOVE THESE BANDS. What else has been happening... well, our new single is ready to go. You may have heard the lead track "Exit Sign" on our myspace, and you'll hopefully hear it on the radio soon too - fingers crossed. The EP is released on August 7th and its called "Keep It Short and Keep It Simple", and we're proud of it. 3 tracks, "Exit Sign", "Next Time" and finally... "Act Your Age" all sounding great :) If you can make it to any of the gigs coming up from Glasgow's ABC launch night onwards, you'll be able to grab yourself a free copy of the EP, so there is more incentive to come to see us! You can see the full list of live dates over the next 2 months on our myspace page. Exciting! Tonight we film a video for Exit Sign, to follow up from the well recieved Slow Motion video (thanks for the kind words!) so look forward to that in coming weeks! The main website is always under construction really, with new things being added regularly. The Hall of Fame is building nicely, but we still need help so go see that and see if you can help at all. There is a Futuro Flickr page up now with *shed loads* of photos up, and there will be some new wallpapers and stuff in a few days too. Go to www.wearefuturo.com for more! Finally, to return to the subject of gigs - ABC2, Glasgow, 26th July - thats the launch night, and we're filming the whole thing to release live videos online so the people in areas we havent toured yet can get a glimpse of what we are like live... So get your tickets for the ABC pronto and get yourself on camera! I'll post another blog update soon, with more concrete details on gigs, updates and stuff - so till then! Love Futuro, cause we love you! j xxx
