Kevin here again. I don't know what may bring you back to the Lil Hospital page, however, I just wanted to let you know that the LH is still dead and broken up. BUT some of you may have missed the boat on our "Universe Sucks" ep. So now I present to you - the "Universe Sucks" ep in its' entirety on THE LIL HOSPITAL myspace.

As some background, the "Universe Sucks" ep was intended to be an epic twee jam 16 song album with such songs as "She Goes With Satan Now" and "The Saddest Things" - however, that did not come to fruition.  So here are the makings of what would've been that album.

But where are we now? Mat is still doing the Specific Heats and crafting their millionth album. Frank is a full-time male nurse and bid adieu to the Besties. Kevin is now doing several projects: Knight School, The Hairs, and Cowards.

Hello,

So I'd hate to break it to you, but the Lil Hospital has passed away. It's been a fun many years through shifting line-ups and locations, but I decided that the LH should now shift into a new direction, the end.

We got a new ep called UNIVERSE SUCKS that just came out and we are very proud of it.  It was a record that I always hoped to make with the LH and now that we did..... well........

Since I didn't include a thank you on the new EP, i'll go ahead now:

So the Lil Hospital is playing a show (Finally) on Sunday at the Cake Shop. It's an Aids benefit. We're raising some money for people to go over to Africa to help treat AIDS patients.

Further, if you refer to our shows listing - you'll see that we have a bunch of shows coming up. And you might be thinking to yourself, "God I really want to go." And so you should. We have a new member called Coach Chris. We wanted to capture the sound of our new record. So we had another child.

What else? We're playing around. I'm not sure how long Lil Hospital shows will be a thing to do. So how about we all just embrace life and go to one.

Hope everyone is well.

Love,
Kevin

hello -

i know i have fallen silent for a long time. i think last we talked - we recorded this ep for vinyl called Universe Sucks. since then, the lil hospital has fallen apart, diverged, and reunited. now the Universe Sucks has arrived at our doorstep.

Hugpatch Records & Total Gaylord Records have joined forces to put out this mammoth 5-song ep. this is a 5-song ep of some epic twee jams. it'll come out and we hope to play some shows in September.

as for us, frank is nursing and being a Besties. mat is being mat and doing the Specific Heats. and as for me (kevin) i'm just eating Subway Footlongs and have a new project called Knight School (refer to our top 20 friends list).

anyhow - i will follow up with more concrete methods to obtain this ep and i'll let you know about show dates.

love,

Dear public,

Where have I been? The Lil Hospital just spent the weekend in the basement of Marlborough Farms, with Gary Olson where we recorded our forthcoming EP. I think I may have mentioned an ALBUM or LP, rather, but an EP seemed to fit our work schedules better. We are very happy with the results and the results are getting mixed and fiddled with as we speak. So expect a vinyl EP in the coming months.

If you are curious about what it sounds like, just stay curious. It's kind of wild.

Happy New Years!

Hello ho ho ho and all,

So people have been asking, "Kevin, When Is This Record Coming Out!?" "Did you die or something?" "Do you know what music is!?" Needless to say, I am okay and these things take time and that I indeed know music. But we have booked time at Marlborough Farms studio to put together the next Lil' Hospital album.

Further, we have a show in my hometown of Arlington, Virginia this weekend too. We are playing with the Besties and the Positions. It's at the famous Galaxy Hut pub & grill. We are trying out some new songs on unsuspecting crowds to see if they like it or not. So if you are from the DC area, I would really appreciate it if you came out to a show once in awhile......what have you done for me lately!?........(jokes, you guys)

So it doesn't look like any more new records will come out this year, so I should list my top favorites of the year.....so uh, here we go......but the thing is I got some records that I love so much that came out a while ago....whatever....okay, I'm ready...

1) Amy Winehouse "back in black"

2) Pants Yell! "Allison Staton"

3) New Pornographers "Challengers"

4) Pooh Sticks "Multiple Orgasm" (an oldie, but I just got it and LOVED IT)

5) Sister Vanilla "Little Pop Rocks" (JAMC is back! and who brought their sister?)

6) Kleenex Girl Wonder "Ponyoak" (an oldie that I resisted but now I love)

7) Pains of Being Pure At Heart "s/t" (well, they're great and I wrote a song about the lead singer...uh, kinda...)

8) M.I.A. "Arular"

9) Page France ".....and the Family Telephone"

10) The Zebras "Worry A Lot" (do kids in America have this? It's a nice pop record in that Big Star/Teenage Fanclub kinda way. Anyhow get ahold of it!)

11) EDIT!!!! Eux Autres "Cold City" (i just got this record yesterday and it is really good. Heather and Nick's voices rule! it's like Vaselines-y + Aislers Set-y. Whatevs. Get it!)

12) EDIT!!! Panda Bear "Person Pitch" (so I just got this record and I got a bit lost in the stadium style Beach Boys' Pet Sounds vibrations. a nice oceanic trip in sound.)

So that's it for now. Please come to our show. And we're working hard. And we hope you all will be happy with the new LH record.

Love,

Kevin

Current mood:  cranky
Hello, I feel tired yet totally jacked on some caffeine. Why would I think coffee at 8:30pm was a good idea? Anyways, how are you? Aside from being cranky that i can't sleep, I am terrific. Let's see....

Well, I just came back from an action packed weekend in Northampton at the New England Popfest. Some highlights:
- dancing to bands (I've been watching a lot of New Edition videos on Youtube that have given me this new hip-hop jive I've been wanting to show off)
- Me (Kevin) and Peggy (Pains Of Being Pure At Hearts) joining Pants Yell! onstage for a cover of "Carrie Cooksey" by Rocketship.
- Talking/Partying with people
- Nils and Patrik (awesomest guys. they're en route to Sweden as I type, but I hope I'll see them again soon.)
- Pains Of Being Pure At Heart and Pants Yell! were great.
- and of course, the Lil' Hospital played....so that was fun.

If you are really observant, you may notice a new song on our player called "Kip Is A Dick." It's just a demo I recorded by myself. For what it is, it came out pretty well. Of course, it'll be more elaborate and polished for the record.

Oh, and just when you thought the Lil' Hospital is over and broke up because Kevin (me) broke into a thousand pieces, we have just booked time over at Marlborough Farms recording studio with Gary Olson to record in January. So expect a record in the summertime???

Anywho, enjoy and we'll talk soon.

Love,
Kevin

Hello, hello.

I just posted another new song that's been kicking around the blogosphere called "the Saddest Things." It was a song featured on Skatterbrain.org. Anyhow, this is just proof that we are working hard on some new tunes. Enjoy and expect more in the future. Talk to you soon.

Kevin

I saw this done on my friend Mario's myspace profile. He's that band, From Bubblegum to Sky. He's a cool dude to boot.

Top 10's:

1) Hanging out with good ol' friends and pulling all-nighters.

2) Jager.

3) Vegetables. (This guy hasn't seen anything green in ages!)

4) Jon Brion musical scores.

5) The Darjeeling Limited + previews of other really seemingly great movies (Lars & the Real Girl + Juno + Margot at the Wedding)

6) Smog "37 Push-ups"

7) Watching the first episode of Gossip Girl. Strangely compelling and hilariously insensitive.

8) Still Flyin' (live).

9) Sarah Silverman Program

10) The Knife
