Hello
We had a great time over at the Isle Of Man during TT.
Day 118
After a productive 3 days rehearsal we headed off to the ferry port in heasham to collect the ferry via tescos for supplies. We got there in good time for the 2;15am ferry 4 hours early.. which mean that we were the first ones there in the queue. We had parked between to lanes so we ended up being cut up by al the other cars as they started moving on the ferry. ?
Boarding over with we explored the ben- mcq- ree ferry and went up on deck, though we couldn't see much as it was dark and windy. It was smooth crossing which enabled us to get some sleep to pass the four hour journey. I woke up a few mles before we came into port and seeing the island for the first time was a pleasant site.
Day 119 Day off
It was 6am and after leaving the ferry we headed onto the promenade to park up by the electric railway (tis turned out to be a regular parking spot fpr us over the next weeks).. Roadie John and myself went for an early morning walk around Douglas to look around and RJ showed me some of the venues that we would be playing in the town, I had my photo taken with Sir Norman Wisdom..Cool.
After a couple of hours sleep we both headed out again for some more exploring and flyering also popping into the venues along the way to say 'hi' and making the final preparations . Everyone was very welcoming and looking forward to seeing us play Miles walked 100
Day 120 Legs Of Man Debut
Not far to drive to day Plus we could load in early at 4pm. With a mixture of the hot sun and steep narrow stairs at first looked a danting task. But luclky I had a brain fart . the stairs were carpeted which meant we could slide the gear down instead stead of struggling down them. A thought of genius.! Huuurrrragh!
Being so early before practice week it was uncertain whether many would turn up but as we played the basement went from the bar lady to pretty much a ful room, which was great. We had made our first IoM fans. they al really enjoyed our debut set on the island.
Day 121 Ellan Vannin – Ramsey
Ramsey is north of he Island. We headed off and seing our first glimpse of the island plus to get we had o drive on t track.. Its great. We will be plaing at this venue 4 times over the tour. Arriving at Ramsey was a breezy one . Here is more of a fishing town. With the fishing boats moored up in the bay. Me and RJ headed out to in the town again opping into the venues we would be playing and dropping off flyers in the olocal cafes and shops spreading the word UTE had landed. Tonight was a late gig and was packed to the brim. This was the start of the Ramsey entourage that grew throughout the tour.
Day 122
Today should have been the charity event but due to things beyond our control we ended up having a day off. Bit not worry we used it well doing some more promoting and exploring in Ramsey. In the evening the we headed to watch another band Poison Hearts that were playing in the town and met up with a manx friend Lisa AKA Ratbag..
Day 123
The Start of practice week we watched some of the action. Over the week ahead. Tonight we were back at the Ellen Vannin. More fans made.
Day 124
Day off
It rained all day today . Oil change today then headed back to Douglas. RJ and I headed off in the evening to see manx UBER ROOM in the bushy's tent which was good. The lemon cake I bought before hand was rather tasty too.
Walking back up the prom the fair had arrived. To get over they had to charter a special ship.
Day 125
A rainy day today but that didn't dampen the spirits of tonights gig as the tent solid. And we were well received.
Day 126
The sun had finally arrived. Before heading to Peel we got some car maintenance done due to losing the spare wheel after the gig last night. Then we picked up the Random Bunny from the airport aka Admin Bunny she does the pics and webbity stuff for the band and designed our special tt t-shirt .
Its great being beside the sea. Peel has a lovely beach. We had a warm welcome here in Peel with many familiar faces turning up from the previous gigs.
Day 127
Castletown.. Another pretty town . We finally met one of the promotors on the island Val Nelson which helped us with some of the gigs here. Tonight was a great gig.
Day 128
Random Bunny, RJ and myself got the steam train to Douglas. Brilliant on the train. Grabbed a shower at the Corner House. Julie the landlady kindly offered us the use of the shower while we were here on the island. Then on to the Horse and Tram and then made our way up to Laxey our next gig destination on the Electric Railway.
We arrived in Laxey and went to see to the Laxey Wheel. The 5000 flyers that we had printed are slowly going down. Which is a good sign.
After the gig we headed back to Peel . Myself and the Random bunny set up the tent on the beach opposite the stage for tomorrows gig. Which was cool.
Day 129 Mad Sunday
A busy day today with two gigs, Mad hairy bikers day and the Ellen Vannin Had turned a little cold today and was breezy on stage but fun nevertheless. I saw some good stunts on the bikes. Straight after the gig we headed to the EV. Was another busy night plus we can honestly say we drove the motorhome on the tt circuit on Mad Sunday!!
Day 130 - 131
We are now building up a large following in Ramsey and each night its getting bigger and bigger. Ramsey sprint day was great and weather was equally as good. Bikes were whizzing down the promenade road and a stunt show took place on the green right outside the motorhome !
Day 132
We return back to Douglas to play at the Trafalgar and was greeted by a not so pleasant landlord. Many familiar faces there tonight and a good gig.
Day 133
Many miles walked over the last days and today was no different and late on we played at the Corner House.. After the gig RJ had a rather tasty pizza.
Day 134
Bushy's On The Beach on Port Erin. First time at port Erin and a lovely beach was our stage tonight. We should have had a second gig afterwards at Bushy's Basement later on in the evening. Which would have meant us breaking the record for the most gigs played by any band either from the UK or the island. We equalled Vals record.
Day 135
Day Off .
We met two very loyal fans Called Jan And Dave who we had met early on in the tour. They kindly invited us over to their house after the Port Erin gig and we had a barbie and went off roading in the their land rovers. Which was very cool.
Day 136
Ellen Vannin tonight was our last gig and it was very nice that people turned up to say goodbye and wished us well.
