Hey to all you Nu Jazz lovers out there!!

This weekend I've been lucky enough to record a live session for Gilles Peterson's radio one show at the legendary BBC Maida Vale studios with the Part Time Heroes (please check my top mates). We recorded four tracks, 3 from the current Ep on Mum's The Word Records and 1 brand new track, which hasn't seen the light of day yet.

So....please check out Gilles' show this wednesday night/thursday morning 2-4am on BBC Radio one, or listen on the internet; http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/gillespeterson.

The session was totally amazing and all the heroes, fellow string section 'Instrumental' and featured artists are buzzed up about this gig!

Tune in and enjoy!!

Mj Cole feat Laura Vane 'Watertight':

http://www.prolificrecordings.com/releases.asp

"Laura Vane is one of the most exciting vocalists and writers that I have had the pleasure to work with in the past few years. This girl has funk and soul oozing from every part of her. Her musicality is second to none. She can cut it both live and in the studio. Phenomenal." - MJ Cole.

Dielser – 'Charmed':

http://www.timec.net/truthoughts/index.php?diesler-charmed

"Diesler gives us the impressively Housed "A Little Something", where Laura Vane's fear allaying vocals delight over impatient brass and keys that don't put a foot wrong." – dancemuzik.com

"Laura Vane provides one of the best vocals I have heard in a long time....get your copy today." – Pressbox.co.uk HTFR

Hint feat Laura Vane 'Cat and Mouse':

"A mighty fine extended player from El Hinto, pushing the boundaries once again. 'Cat and Mouse' features the previously unknown to me, and quite brilliant, vocals of Laura Vane. Its hide'n'seek soul/jazz and bruk-step beats for the next generation….. Hint is one of the most creative, and perhaps most unsung young producers around. Check this boy out!!!"

- Straight No Chaser Magazine Review

"Cat and Mouse is the most instantly likeable purely for the vocal talents from Laura Vane dancing over the fidgety piano. But the production throughout is every bit admirable with every track having it's own quirks hidden within the wonky beats." - Knowledge Magazine Review

"Wonderful slightly broken groove on 'Cat & Mouse'. I love the vocal pace of Laura Vane. Fits perfectly in my sets @ my Connected clubnights!"
- Gerd, 4Lux Recordings

Robbie Rivera feat Laura Vane 'Some Kind of Heaven'

Robbie Rivera feat Laura Vane 'One Eye Shut':

"…On perhaps his most widely accessible release since 'Bang', Laura Vane's stark delivery sits well against an assortment of backdrops."

– DMC, Update magazine.

Simon Aston feat Laura Vane 'Can I Get':

http://www.traxsource.com/index.php?act=show&fc=tpage&cn=title_id&cv=1035

"The deVICE camp present "Can I get" by Simon Aston, an uplifting production that is spreading a soulful yet powerful vibe with its thumpin' beat, deep chords, drifting synths, chunky guitar riff and the stellar vocal performance by Laura Vane." – Michael Fossati, www.spiritofhouse.com

"Diminutive, confident and bouncy, Laura has a distinctive soulful voice which can go from an emotional whisper to rocking and raucous in an instant." "Our tip for the top, Laura Vane, an 'incendiary blonde' with a big soul voice"

Laura Vane & Her Band
"This girl has funk and soul oozing from every part of her" - MJ Cole

Having worked with respected names such as Mj Cole, Lewis Taylor, Mark Hill and Robby Rivera, Southampton based singer / songwriter, Laura Vane has now channelled her awesome talents into writing and recording her own album with Brighton based artist/producer Lee Baker. Together they have created a fusion of Northern Soul and Raw Funk steeped in sensational vocal arrangements. Laura has now put a fantastic band together and they are looking for live dates.

"Laura Vane is one of the most exciting vocalists and writers that I have had the pleasure to work with in the past few years. This girl has funk and soul oozing from every part of her. Her musicality is second to none. She can cut it both live and in the studio. Phenomenal." - MJ Cole.

Russian Roulette

Al Siesta is the talismatic front man of south coast band Russian Roulette, a soulful, Latin jazz, five piece band. Their funky style uses Als slick R&B vocal style and the bands excellent musicianship to create a truly fresh international sound.

Al, who was born in Cuba and bought up in Russia, brings a rich and diverse list of musical accomplishments as a singer pianist, composer and producer. Al and other four band members, Andy Davey-Guitar, Jamie McCalister-Bass, Arman Kevorkian-Keyboards, and Aaron Head on drums are a truly professional alliance of talented musicians that create a new stylistic blend of modern music.

Russian Roulette's' tight grooves and funky licks provide an ideal platform for Al to captivate an audience with a mixture of charisma, vocal talents and virtuous piano playing.

Russian Roulette play an easily accessible, intelligently crafted set successfully uniting fans of various music styles. Their sound also easily converts itself to soulful dance remixes as evidenced by Al's eight week appearance in this summers, DJ influential "Hype chart"

With a host of successful gigs under their belt and several house remixes of their work supporting their cause they aim to bring their unique sound and musicianship to the capital in early 2006 before taking the show to various international venues including Europe, Russia and America.

Bossnass

Bossnass are eclectic, that's for sure, embracing soulful melodic social commentary alongside gutsy guitar driven funk rock. To say they have elements of soul, jazz, funk, hip hop and rock is to only tell part of the story, this 5-piece blend the latter with an energy, wit and honesty sorely lacking in so much of contemporary music. With various members having previously toured with The Black Eyed Peas, Ice-T, The Beatnuts, Mark Ronson, Alexander O'Neal, Ugly Duckling, Prince Paul, Weapons of mass belief, Nate James, Gordon Haskell, The Spooks, The Pickpockets, Gabrielle, Meshell Ndegeocello, The Brand New Heavies and Courtney Love, its fair to say that the famously energetic 'Bossnass' live show comes highly recommended. "Stevie Wonder meets AC/DC" - Rock Garden, Covent Garden

Bossnass was born when three Southampton and two London musicians played together for the first time for an improvised gig in Southampton in February 2004. The gig went down a storm and immediately secured them a monthly residency at The Orange Rooms in Southampton while they began working on their first album. The live shows attracted plenty of interest including the likes of indie label 'Norimaki Recordings'. Now with a 4 Track EP release 'One touch beat commander' available on 'Norimaki Recordings' the album is expected to follow shortly. And this is your first chance to see 'Bossnass' in all their glory on the notorious Brook Stage.
