Friends and lovers,

Our fourth full length and first on the grandest of all formats, the LP, is now available from Little Deputy Records (http://www.littledeputy.com).  We urge you to start pestering Joey with e-mail requests and electronic deposits into his PayPal account.

The album, entitled "Another Guaranteed 40 Minute Music Set," has 15 songs, some previously released on other, inferior formats such as cassette tapes and the obsolete compact disc, some as fresh and new as a two year old recording can sound.  It is exclusively available on ultra collectible hot pink vinyl, the 12 inch kind that won't fit into your computer's disk drive.

We will be playing a show on Saturday, November 28 for our Official Record Release party in San Francisco at the Sub/Mission Art Space (formerly Balazo Gallery), located at 2183 Mission St. between 17th and 18th.  Joining us on this historic occasion will be the Argentinian human explosion, BOOM BOOM KID and local favorites SONGS FOR MOMS, and maybe one more band if they ever respond to my e-mails.

The show is ALL AGES, and pretty damn cheap at only FIVE BUCKS.

ALSO:  If you're like everybody else on the planet, you've already joined the mass emigration to that other social networking site Facebook.  So have we, and you can profess your love and devotion to us here:

For those of you who haven't noticed, Love Songs has not been playing live for, oh, let's just say a long time.  This is mostly due to our beloved, often belittled, but always brilliant bass player, Seth, moving to the land of beer and sausage we call Chicago, and leaving some very large shoes to fill.
We faced the challenge of trying to find someone to replace our very good friend, whom we never really realised was such a talented bassist, until we tried teaching other people to play his parts.  More than a few candidates helped us learn that Seth did a lot more than look good in a Speedo.  To those who were about to rock, we salute you: Nick, Dan, Ben, Monte, and Sam, among others.
During our time off, Craig managed to conquer the fucking world (see earlier blog posting), play either the guitar or the air guitar on 5 and a half continents, become an animated video game character, and grow a beard.  Jackson started a power pop power trio called Master Volume and gave up working year round for lifelong debt.  Bradley became a homeowner and unemployed, in that order.  Meanwhile, in Chicago, Seth joined a totally awesome rock band called Days Off. www.myspace.com/daysoffchicago
Our hiatus is due to end soon, though, as we will be introducing our new bass player, Brian, at the El Rio in San Francisco on April 25, where we're playing with King City and Flipper.  We are fucking stoked.
See you soon, everybody.
We miss you, Seth!

On Friday, August 22 in Oulu, Finland, Love Songs singer/lead guitarist Craig (or as he is more widely known, Hot Lixx Hulahan) claimed his place in history as the 2008 World Champion of Air Guitar. No shit. For real. The entire world.

We couldn't be happier, or more proud, that he finally put down his guitar and got serious about music.

The Reviews are in! Both of them!
Our 7 inch single has garnered praise from the highly regarded opinion pages of Maximum Rock N Roll and Razorcake magazines!
Time to celebrate!  Better jump on this bandwagon before the champagne goes flat!
PLEASE NOTE: these reviews have not been edited for content, they are the work of professional critics and journalists, you are not qualified to contradict them.

From Maximum Rock N Roll:

LOVE SONGS - "Hot Buns" EP

Oh LOVE SONGS, how we smile when we hear you.  LOVE SONGS have fun and do they ever push the limits of fun with this single.  "Hot Buns," with its puling keyboards and guitar leads, is right between cheesy '80's new wave and hair metal.  The beginning of the track has me thinking of EUROPE's "Final Countdown."  Nice pink, baby blue, purple, and yellow artwork to go along with the theme.  And the lyrics seem like they are referring to '80's arena rock.  The song is about the structure and attitude of these types of songs.  I can't even follow the lyrics/idea behind "I Miss My TV Set" but essentially it's a power pop tune.  Hardcore?  Nope.  Metal?  Nope.  Power Pop?  Maybe.  WEIRD AL?  You bet.
-Mike Howes

Here's what Razorcake had to say:

LOVE SONGS: Hot Buns (The Sequel to the Theme of the Sequel to Top Gun): 7"

I wish more bands were like Love Songs. I'm at a point if I go out to see a
band, I want to see a SHOW, and these guys deliver, full '80s heavy metal
meets Hickey attack and all. The A-side claims to be the sequel to the theme
of the sequel to Top Gun, and, well, it's just that. Don't be mad at me for
not being able to expand on it more than that, be happy there's a band that
will actually sit down, think of, and execute an idea like that. The B-side
is a more standard number, which I'm fairly sure isn't sung by Craig Ums,
but still great. Pick this up, as well as their underrated full lengths.
