Thereʼs a long, tough journey one must take in order to make it in the hip-hop game. No one knows this more then Robbery of Below Zero Entertainment. Born Rob Murszewski on August 31, 1983 in Buffalo, New York, the now twenty-four-year-old emcee is ready to walk that long journey to make it in hip-hop. Rob fell in love with music at a very young age and his eclectic taste in music is still apparent in the music he makes today. "Iʼve loved music since I could remember, and Iʼve always wanted to do something in it. I had all different kinds of music around me since I was little. From disco to classic rock to soul to country to hip-hop. But I was always drawn to hip-hop more so than any other genre of music I heard." Hearing classics such as "Triumph" by The Wu-Tang Clan and The Notorious B.I.G.ʼs debut album "Ready to Die" made the young Rob want to pick up the pen and start rhyming.
Artists such as Tupac Shakur, Notorious B.I.G., Big L, Big Pun, Rakim and others helped mold Rob into Robbery. Taking a little bit from each of these talented artists, Robbery began to take emceeing very seriously, hoping to one day make it big. In 2004 Robbery put out his first official mixtape, "Nothingʼs Gonna Stop Me Volume 1." He then briefly joined a crew called The Committee and they collectively put out the mixtape "Below Zero The Mixtape" in early 2005. The crew soon after called it quits, citing creative differences and motivation as the cause of the split. Since then, Robbery has been grinding out mixtape features and guest appearances on some major discs. In 2007 he was featured on T-Moneyʼs "Let The Games Begin" mixtape with his song "Itʼs Not Easy." DJ Ophaxʼs "Welcome to the Future Volume 1" also featured Robberyʼs hit "Stay on my Grind." And his song "Hard Day in the City" was featured on DJ Diggz and DJ Rated Rʼs "Murder Game Mixtape" hosted by Ransom. The same song was also featured on Sirius Satellite Radioʼs Shade 45 on the Unsigned Artist Rap Attack Contest where he won two consecutive days before being ousted on his third day by his fellow crew member Johnny Hustle. Heʼs also performed in the local Buffalo scene in the Script Pro Music Talent Competitions, winning several weeks while also competing in their final competition. Robbery has recorded a song with the late Stack Bundles as well, which will soon be featured on Johnny Hustleʼs mixtape "The Hope Reloaded" due out later this year.
Needless to say, Robbery has been on the grind. He knows that he may only be one mixtape appearance, one competition entry, one radio spot, or one hit away, from blowing up and putting his city of Buffalo on the map. He hopes to one day land the coveted record deal heʼs had his eyes on since hearing the first words of "Triumph." Dreams of becoming the CEO of Below Zero Entertainment to bring up his producer Rex and former Committee crew member Johnny Hustle are also on Robberyʼs mind. Being a hip-hop entrepreneur seems like a good job description for the Buffalo native. That seems to all be in the future for this emcee though. Eight years deep in the game and Robbery is still walking the long journey toward becoming one of hip-hopʼs elite. Itʼs a tough course to take, but he plans on weathering the storm until he finally makes it. With the talent and drive it takes to actually make it in the game, Robberyʼs day will eventually be upon us. Itʼs only a matter of time.
