oh yes, we do! Deathface is from Brooklyn New York...but this kid on before The Prodigy and they'll find any excuse not to go on...Deathface transports hardcore rave into the next decade. Adrenaline driven....and trust me when I say this , it's not some paid for opinion which is included in some marketing budget. He has no record deal but remixed Autokratz. Awesome &dangerous....

Deathface returns.
posted by Kx. | Wednesday, September 2, 2009 | 1:44 AM | kevin.spec@gmail.com

Just received an email from our friend Johnny Love, known as Deathface, previously known as one half of Guns'N'Bombs, which both collaborations have toured with us in the past. Just this year Deathface has graced our shores playing along side Danger, Toxic Avenger, Passions, Bobmo, and others at the We Love Sounds Festival, and it seems like he is making his return back down under around October (according to his myspace)

Anyways, he has sent me an email with some cool new remixes he has just done, and I thought i'd blog them.

First remix is the Mexican Institute of Sound - Cumbia. This remix is definitely a track that should be played to hype the crowd up, its reminds me of the Proxy track '8000' which is yet to be released, but if you have heard it off sets and youtube or whatever, its got that arabic tune where in this case, its got that mexican tune. The beginning of the track sounds like you'd go into a south american or mexican festival and see a whole bunch of south americans or mexicans sambaing to a whole band playing it on the drums, bongo's and what not. It's pretty cool, it mixes things up until that Deathface sound kicks in, and you've got that heavy distorted sound ripping through snippets of the original. Have a listen.

Mexican Institute of Sound - Cumbia (Deathface Remix)

Second remix is Circuit Freq - Supertripper. This remix says Deathface all over it, from start to finish. If you haven't heard his sets, or any of his previous tracks, then I really can't explain to you this sound. Its got a mix of dubstep & distortion, that wobble bassline dubstep has mixed with that grunge distortion. People may like it, people may not like it, but we from Trashbagskids love this sound.

Circuit Freq - Supertripper (Deathface Remix)

Last remix is autoKratz - Stay The Same. Personally, this remix is different to the rest. Its a bit more laid back, and if you compare it, the two above are a bit more heavier than this one. This is a bit more fast paced, with a nice break in between with the vocals from the original track being played on a drum beat. It's pretty cool.

autoKratz - Stay The Same (Deathface Is Different Remix)

Be sure you check more of his remixes and original tracks later on. Perhaps maybe an exclusive minimix, or interview just for Trashbagskids. Who knows, but know one thing, he will be returning shortly to OZ. Fingers cross for a Sydney show. Check out his myspace for dates.

CIRCUIT FREQ: SUPERTRIPPER (DEATHFACE REMIX)

Circuit Freq Supertripper (Deathface Remix) Circuit Freq Records
Deathface is the moniker of Johnny Love, a.k.a. one half of the blog-house duo Guns N’ Bombs. While typically anyone that would have anything to do with one of the musical trends that nearly ruined 2007 and 2008 would be off limits, dude has packed in a lot of punch with this new “dark” project. Fusing wobble-heavy bass, DJ Hell-esque techno, gnarly breaks and even a little drum and bass, Deathface has shown his capabilities as a mature producer. For this time around, the producer creates a brutal remake of Los Angeles-based producer Circuit Freq’s darkened electro-opus, “Supertripper.” I can’t say we at CY follow much of what’s happening in the dance music sphere, but if you like heavy, grinding electronic shit, grab this immediately.

Deathface rises from the ashes of Guns n Bombs

Last month we reported that recent We Love Sounds crowd-smashers Guns n Bombs had called their love affair with pounding hipster-y electro tunes off for good. Citing some irreconcilable differences – Johnny Love wanting to take the project in a dubstep direction and Filip Nikolic was moving towards more minimal and insular sounds – we were sad to see the LA duo go their separate ways.
But we were watching some movie about awesome lions and one of them said something about a circle of life and accordingly, out of the ashes of Guns n Bombs Johnny Love has surged forth, throwing himself into his new Deathface project.
We’ve got the first fruits to come from the Deathface camp in the form of Love’s new mix, The Blood Has Gone Bad, streaming on ITM-FM as of today. We’re pretty blown away by the mix already as it shows the same knack for explosive bangers that we heard with GnB as well as plenty of wobbly, bottomed-out bass turns. Real tasty.

thanks guys, and its the blood has gone black, for the record.

The New Face of Death

Once upon a time there was blog house and everyone agreed on it. No matter what you liked before, be it electroclash, house, breaks, drum and bass, indie rock, disco, etc, blog house seemed to make everyone happy. But those days are long gone now and all the blog house veterans hove gone of in search of the new sound. Some have gone techno, some have gone big room, some disco, some heavy bass, some dubstep, and some have stayed behind to reap the benefits of the homogenization of the once underground genre.
The career of the now defunct blog house heroes, Guns’n'Bombs, might as well have been the index by which the rise and fall of blog house could be monitored. Their early mixtapes graced the pages of fluokids back when they were the biggest blog in town. Their first release on pioneering label Kitsuné came just as the second wave of electro blog house producers (The Bloody Beetroots, Felix Cartal, The Toxic Avenger, Hostage) we’re just getting their first tunes out there. They did a wealth of remixes and toured the world as Justice were headlining festivals and selling out massive clubs. Their second and final release, showing a completely new direction, came just after blog house reached it saturation point, turned mainstream/celebrity fodder and became a caricature of itself. And, finally, Guns’n'Bombs went their separate ways, Turbotito going the nu-disco/house route, and Johnny ‘Guns’ Love becoming the new spectre of heavy-bass-deathmetal-dubstep-breakcore-club music, Deathface.
Deathface is, bar none, the hardest music you can play in the club without clearing the dancefloor. He has managed to slide a functional groove into the collection of amen rolls, think breaks, giant hoovers, double kickdrums and other sounds of death. The sound is truly unique incorporating dubstep, rave, breakcore, electro, big room, and metal. One tune will sound like Doormouse meets Tittsworth and the next is like High Rankin meets Steve Angello. His tracks have garnered support by a diverse following from Laidback Luke to Drop The Lime to Diplo to Brodinski.
Well enough about what it sounds like. Just listen to this mix that hes sent out that has just about every Deathface tune on it and see for yourself. He’s also supplied us with the first Deathface track available to the public, “10 Percent VIP” featuring vocals from Entro whom I consider to be the best rave MC I’ve ever heard. You might wanna keep a shotgun nearby, though, because the dead will likely rise and flock to your house once these Eredunic incantations leave your speakers.
