Hello everyone,

First of all, we're playing at Night & Day in Manchester this Saturday. Liam Frost is also there and we're celebrating Night & Day being 18 years old! It means a lot to us to play this gig, Night & Day played a big part in our early days as a band so it will be really good to be back there and should be a top night. Hope lots of you can make it down.

We're also very excited to announce that we'll be playing in Paris at La Maroquinerie for Les Inrockuptibles on December 17th. This is our first time playing in Paris so we can't wait.

In other news, we're about to release some awesome remixes from Open Hearts, there's some seriously good ones, one in particular by Toro Y Moi has already featured on Pitchfork's Forkcast, so make sure you check them out. We'll give you more details on how to get hold of them soon.

And on to next year... we'll be announcing some more European dates, we'll be releasing some new material, and quite possibly a new album so make sure you stay tuned, and if you feel inclined, get in touch.

Oh yeah, also check out the brand new Twitter page thing, The Longcut are now almost full integrated into 2009, just in time for 2010. :-)

Have agood one and hope to see you soon.

We're currently in the final stage of mixing the new album with producer David Jones (from Nine Black Alps), and within the next two weeks we'll finally have finished the bastard (honest)!

We also have a Flickr group, to go with our new Facebook page, so we've just about caught up to 2007 with our online presence. Twitter will follow in 2012.

As a welcome distraction, we've also been asked to contribute to Evidently Chickensounds, a tribute to Manchester poet John Cooper Clarke, which is being assembled by Fat Northerner Records. Our version of his 1982 song The New Assassin will appear on the album, which'll be accompanied by a book, documentary and hopefully some sort of live shindig. For more details see here.

As soon as we have any definite dates for releases, gigs, or any other kind of news we'll let you know!
