Please join Low Key Arts in a unique shopping experience. In a town rich with artists, finding a special holiday gift for the important people in your life should be fun, not a chore. A collection of local artists will set up shop for one day only showcasing a variety of handmade items from jewelry, dolls, hats, housewares, paintings, photographs, to whimisical little creations like no other.

Shawn Newton, local woodcut/lino cut artist will present a Collograph Making Workshop from 3 to 5 pm the same day. This affordable workshop is for ages 6 to 600. For $5 you can learn a fun and relatively simple process of printmaking and take home your creations to give as cards or small gifts. Come for the workshop and browse the artists tables. You never know what will spark your creative fire.

Who came out last Friday and indulged themselves on 6 sets of stellar music.  Thanks to those 6 bands who rocked us.  Thanks to you who enjoyed yourself and contributed your finacial and integral energetic support to The VOV.   The fundraiser got us $795 closer to the 5 days of fantastic come March 2010.
ATTRACTIVE $ POPULAR, ITINERANT LOCALS, BLUE SCREEN SKYLINE, FROWN POW'R, PERPETUAL WEREWOLF, and THE LITTLE MONSTERS....you are champions.

The Valley of the Vapors Independent Music Festival (The VOV) has begun its fundraising efforts for the upcoming festival in March 2010. We are looking for 7 bands to perform at Low Key Arts on Friday, November 27th (day after T-DAY). 

We held this event last year and it was amazing... Seven bands set up in a giant circle on the floor (not the stage) with the audience standing in the middle. As soon as one band stops the next band begins. No stops. 20 minute sets. That's 140 minutes of non-stop live music, on the floor and in your face. Super fun!!!

THE AFTER SCHOOL ROCK BAND EXPERIENCE – accepting students for September NOW!!


Low Key Arts presents the After School Rock Band Experience. Student interested in learning & writing songs, and performing a concert read on! Four to five students will be selected to rehearse under the mentorship of Andrew Anderson during the month of September and then perform as part of the Hot Springs Gallery Walk on October 2nd.  The After School Rock Band Experience is seeking guitar, bass, piano, banjo, and horn players, as well as, drummers to form a band with Andrew Anderson.  There is no cost to be a part of the program. All we need are high school students who are determined, responsible and fun!

Rehearsal schedules will be determined following student selection and each students schedule. Most likely from 4PM to 7PM – two to three days per week for 4 weeks.  Rehearsals will take place at Low Key Arts, 118 Arbor in downtown Hot Springs.

Students will need to provide their own instruments and amplifiers. A PA for singers will be provided.

Andrew Anderson was born and raised in Idaho and currently resides in Austin, Texas. He is a former student of The Berklee School of Music and Director of The Power Chord Academy – the premier rock and roll music camp for kids.  Andrew has recently completed his debut full length album, which is being shopped to record labels, by Mike Hererra, singer for MXPX and Tumbledown. The songs that Andrew has written are akin to Social Distortion, Bob Dylan, Hank Williams and Lucero. The Valley of the Vapors Independent Music Festival (march 2010) is gearing up for our fundraising season. The VOV depends on grants, donations, and fundraisers to pull off the countries most down to earth, and humble small town volunteer run rock and roll festival. 
For the third year running, The VOV and HSDFI present "Arkansas Shorts" - a night of short film.  Last year we screened over a dozen shorts to a sold out audience at The historic Malco Theater in downtown Hot Springs, Arkansas.  It was a wonderful evening in The Spa City!!

Tickets are now available for The VOV 2009.  There are only 200 tickets available for each show, so don't procrastinate.  To buy tickets, simply click on the drop down menu located on The VOV Myspace page, choose your show and quantity, follow The Paypal instructions and we will send you your tickets.  So easy!!  NOTE: That ticket prices include shipping and handling.


VOV 2009 limited edition silk screened posters by Aesthetic Apparatus are available too.  Posters are signed, numbered and stamped for authentication. Posters will be shipped in a poster tube.

SPIKES ALL YOU CAN EAT DEEP FRIED ROCK AND ROLL BUFFET - Saturday, January 17th, 9pm at Low Key Arts, 118 Arbor in Hot Springs. - all ages, $5.
Here's the skinny - seven bands will play on the floor of Low Key Arts (no bands on the stage). The bands will be set up in massive circle. You, the audience will watch from the inner circle.  The first band will begin at 9:30PM and proceed with a 15 minute set. As the first band rings out its last note, the second band will begin and so on and so on until all 7 bands have rocked your inner being continuously for 1 hour and 45 minutes. CAN YOU HANDLE THAT MUCH ROCK!!

The VOV and The HSDFI presents...

ARKANSAS SHORTS -  a night of short film, Saturday, January 9th at 7PM. This years collection of shorts come from Arkansas natives or current residents including; Ben Meade, James Katowich, Jade Sharp, Dan Anderson, Michael Schaeffer, Chuck Dodson, and much much more. 

The event takes place at The Historic Malco Theater, 819 Central in downtown Hot Springs, Arkansas.

Admission is $5 with the proceeds going to the upcoming Valley of the Vapors Independent Music Festival - March 17-22, 2009 in Hot Springs.

The Valley of the Vapors Independent Music Festival (VOV) will hold a general meeting for those interested in volunteering for the upcoming festival. The VOV, which celebrates it's 5th anniversary this year, will run from March 17th thru March 22nd at various venues in downtown Hot Springs, Arkansas. The VOV is looking for volunteers to assist with promotions, publicity, technical production, talent buying, hospitality and fundraising.  The meeting will be held at Low Key Arts, 118 Arbor on Sunday, November 9th at 4PM.  For more information contact Shea Childs at shea@valleyofthevapors.com or 501-282-9057.  The VOV is a 501(c)3 public charity.
