Current mood: nostalgic
Dear All,
We regret to inform you that the rumours are true, we played our last gig a fortnight ago at the Barfly, Cardiff.
If you haven't got the jist of things from the first sentence, Midasuno are no more.
We've had an amazing 8(ish) years and we don't regret a single thing, when there are a LOT of potential things we could .
Despite the amazing support we've recieved from certain sectors of the music industry, nameley Mike @ Sugar Shack Records, Darren Sadler @ Rocksound, and the lovely guys and gals at Jagermeister for example, the thought of being criminally ignored has finally taken its toll.
We never set out to be an underground "cult" sensation, its been arenas or bust from day one, and for some reason unknown to us, we cannot break through the glass ceiling and have the success we feel the band deserves.
Theres only so long you can sit on the fence of success waiting for "it" to happen before developing piles.
Most of the people who will read this will be as gutted as we are and trust us, making this desicion is one of the hardest things we have ever had to do.
We've brushed off a lot of shit, got stronger and stronger every gig we've played and every record we released, but the rewards we recieved never matched the ambition we've had for the band.
Don't get us wrong, we consider ourselves rediculously lucky with all of the opportunities we've had, and we know it's what millions of bands would love to do, but the current scene has no place for an honest british rock band in its ranks which is truely a sad time for music.
We would like to extend a massive thank you to everyone that has shown even the smallest amount of enthusiasm and support for us, it was never a cool thing to like us, and for the people who championed our cause we can only commend your guts and bravery for giving a fuck about us.
To all the bands, promoters, and people we've worked with throughout our career we thank you.
To the people who turned up at our shows, bought our t-shirts, listened to our records or marked their bodies, you've truely made the last 8 years unforgettable and we're forever in your debt.
We've always played every show like it would be our last, but actually playing a 'last show' would not only break our hearts, but we'd be cheating both ourselves and you as fans.
We're sure you'll see some of us across a stage somewhere again, as the only thing we still have as indivuduals is our undying love for music.
Peace, love, empathy
Scott Lee Andrews, Gavin Glyndwr Thomas Jessop, Matthew John Riste, Christopher David Morgan

RELEASE: 'SISTER TEMPTATION' FORMAT: DIGITAL DOWNLOAD RELEASE DATE: 7TH July 2008 LABEL: SUGAR SHACK RECORDS DISTRIBUTION: SHELLSHOCK DIGITAL CATALOGUE NO.: FOD079 "'SISTER TEMPTATION' SETS THE BAR WITH BIG RIFFS, ELECTRONIC TRANCE ROCK AND A CATERWAULING CHORUS" – BBC ONLINE Midasuno's album opener of 2007's "Songs In The Key Of Fuck" (5/5 – BBC Online, 4K's – KERRANG!, 4/5 – The FLY Magazine, 8/10 – Rock Sound) – 'Sister Temptation, comes as the band's first release of 2008. Following previous single (Chosen by Napalm Death's Barney Greenway as Rock Sound Magazine's 'Single of the Month' "Don't Drive (Faster Than Your Angel Can Fly), the track encapsulates the Midasuno blueprint – Big riffs, bigger choruses and more ideas in 4 minutes than most bands achieve over the space of an album. "...BELTING OPENER 'SISTER TEMPTATION IS SPEARHEADED BY A RIFF SO FERVENT, YOU'D BE LUCKY TO GET OUT WITH YOUR EYEBROWS STILL ATTACHED" - BIG CHEESE MAGAZINE Fusing rock with elements of electronica (with tongue very firmly in cheek), the song has already become a firm live favourite. The last song written for "Songs...", 'Sister Temptation' has 'single' written all over it – twisting and turning from dark, groove-heavy guitar work to throbbing synths, culminating in what is simply of the biggest choruses you'll hear this year. The songs' lyrical content comments on the guilt of infidelities and acts of a capriciousness nature, which, coming from a seemingly red-blooded 'rock' band, is quite an anti-rock sentiment to contemplate. It's this sort of juxtaposition that make Midasuno so refreshing and so vital. "REMINIESCENT OF GINGER WILDHEART'S FORAYS UP AND DOWN THE FRETBOARD, 'SISTER TEMPTATION' ROCKS ITS WAY TO A BLISTERING CHORUS" – ROCKINDUSTRY.CO.UK 'Sister Temptation's' accompanying video was filmed live at The Civic in Mexborough in February 2008, during Midasuno's stint as main support on Brigade's 'Shortcuts' single tour. The band intend to undertake an extensive summer touring schedule, following which the band will begin work on the follow-up to "Songs....". "'SISTER TEMPTATION' DISPLAYS THE BAND'S PROPENSITY FOR MUSE-SIZED RIFFS" – NEW-NOISE.NET

Yalright guys - following our recent UK tour with Brigade - the reviews are slowly slipping into our hands, and so here’s where their going to get posted - if you get a whiff of a review somewhere on some random forum - link us! We’d love to see them however bad they are haha! Either way - start as we mean to go on...
Brigade / Midasuno plus more @ Zaks, Wolverton
(taken from www.ampjam.com forums) by ’Craig Short’ (screenname)
Location: Milton Keynes, Satan’s Layby!
Tonight is arguably the biggest night for Zaks this year, in the midst of their tour, Brigade (a band with ties to Biffy Clyro and Fightstar) are making some headway for a big future. Tonight has them with their touring support, the outrageous Welsh grit, Midasuno and the more local acts of Symbo and Thesocalled. It may be a Wednesday, but things are looking quite busy and pretty promising, lets see if big names can deliver the goods and play a night for us to remember...
...It’s now onto the touring bands and we are definitely in for a treat tonight with a pseudo gothic look abound on stage that looks like it’s been through some rough times. This is Midasuno, a group with a sound that hits you with a kick and a pelvic thrust at the same time, a group that seems angry and hungry, a group that will pin you against the wall. Jagged riffs and chords and unkempt, raw and visceral beats are what the band are all about and it’s all quite scary as it seems alluring, sweaty and sexy, it’s a bit of a beast. Trust me, these are some guys you wouldn’t want to meet in a dark alley, or maybe you would if you are the masochistic type!
Musically and attitude-wise, it’s reminiscent of a very, very early Sonic Youth, the guitars tear at you and the bass-lines and drums hammer in rusty nails of sound while the band spend half the time off the stage, prowling and mingling with the audience members who have the guts to get up front and kicking at the walls. By the end the stage is pretty much a bomb site with thrown guitars, trashed drums and amps that have taken quite a battering, it’s seemingly impossible to top!
...On the whole, a bloody brilliant night and I whole heartedly have to say that Midasuno and Brigade were on very similar levels, in fact Midasuno may have almost eclipsed the headliners and that has to say something. Brigade still came across with a lot of volume though, as expected, but despite being on their way to bigger things, they remain quite grounded and took any mishaps on the chin, playing the set how they would play any other. Other than that, the support was fairly okay, Thesocalled bursting in with some new material and a lot of volume, but Symbo just couldn’t push enough and seemed to be a little on the wayside compared to the rowdiness of the other bands.

Current mood: chipper
Sat 16th Feb - Guildford Boiler Room
So we woke up and tried to piece together the rest of last night. I'm told I snored like a cunt. We pop out out of our hotel for a quick smoke, then head to the van to find we'd been booked. I don't care what people say - traffic wardens are jobsworths. And cunts.
We head to Guildford quite early, having got out well before we were due to check out of the hotel. The area where the Boileroom is situated is a very prim and proper residential network - making parking impossible. Some more white russian and Gav has to move the van - he felt he parked o close to a nursary and combined with the paranoia of da' bush he felt the paedo brush was being waved our way. The town itself was very nice - full of very nice people. We entered Jefferies Passage teeheehee.
Following load-in, the Brigade crew and ourselves got chatting a bit more, was great breaking the ice with them, I can't say enough nice things about everyone but I will try and give you a breakdown in a blog in the near future.
Come soundcheck and my amp is FUCKED. Low output, buzzing noise. FUCKED. This could have put me in a shit mood, however - courtesy of the world's greatest invention, alcohol - this didnt piss on my parade so to speak.
All of the extra gear and cases was loaded upstairs into the 'house' part of the venue, and getting ourselves, brigade and 4 bands gear up there was a fucking nightmare. We then find out the venue is capacity and hasn't been this full for over 18 months! Great stuff chaps!
I also bumped into Simon Pegg, sorry - our new friend Doug. I almost wet myself, after embarassingly telling him how great Hot Fuzz etc was, He revealed the truth. I should've know it wasn't him as he asked me, "...Aren't you in Midasuno?" I'm a tit. Doug however, is a bloody star.
gig was a bit sketchy, due to my fucked amp, but never the less I think we overcame, and seemed really well received. Brigade sounded fucking MASSIVE and totally deserve to be a jewel in the britrock crown when the new record comes out.
Once again, things from this point get a little bit misty, I remember a self inflicted glass to the head, and chris was going to knock some boys out, but apart from that we left with big smiles. Yes!
Yes I also forgot.....if you meet us on tour, do NOT refer to our real names, only our new tour nicknames.......
Scott - Pam Gab Chris - Shogun Pin Gav - Patches Mcghoulagan Matt - Snowgoose
We will be glad to explain, if you give us some biscuits. Or drinks.
Ride on time motherfuckers

Friday 15th Feb - Kingston Peel. Today was the 1st "Proper" date with Brigade, we'd already played on the two Welsh dates with the boys (Abertillary & Merthyr) alongside then tour support This City.....Check them out at Cardiff Barfly on Tuesday 26th Feb with our good buddies The Red October - we'll be there. Kingston was fucking COLD. After load in and soundcheck we commenced the usual Midasuno pre-gig ritual of heavy drinking and the 'getting to know Brigade & crew better' mission. These guys are THE nicest band you could get the pleasure to play with. That scared us at first, because being a band with such a low moralistic outlook, we wouldnt want to scare the boys (and Kim - soundlady) with our unusual take on life and living. We need not worry though. Was great to meet up with Warren, Brigade's Manager who we met aeons ago while he was in charge of another Midasuno favourite Engerica, who are sadly now defunct, but check out Baddies, who have formed from the ashes and will rock your world to bits.
The set was pretty good, was made even better by seeing some familer faces! Miffy, Angharad, Siobhan, Sam....was great to see you guys. Brigade rocked what seemed almost a 'home' crowd for them very hard, and clearly set the bar for the rest of the dates.
Following the show, we did a Midasuno 'first' by checking into a comparatively upmarket hotel chain for the night. Not before I almost lose Matt's trusty MP3 player by opening the side van door for a piss as we were trying to park. Matt was "going to lamp me" until we realised what happen the last time he tried that. Knocked him right out hahahahaha only joking bro.
What proceded to happen from this point is a blur, but I will reconstruct as best as possible. We get to the room. Smoke some White Russian. Tried to order fast food from the reception, much to the both dismay and amusement of the staff - Idiot running round a 3am with heads full of drugs trying to grasp the concept of a menu was no mean feat. From there on it goes like this.
"EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE" That was me in thre lift trying to crawl up the back of some very large afro-american gentleman, his wife/girlfriend/life-partner was to scared to alarm him about the gothic gollum screaching behind him .
Phantasm one, two, three, four four four four four four.............five.
