my name is mattthew pearl, almost 2 years back i ventured out with close friend micheal connor and brian to see caspian perform for the first time in harvard square at a place called tommy doyles irish pub. i remember being quite determined to meet them and photograph the show but my decission changed. i found myself interested to observe their amazing sound and if i had the chance i would sqeeze through the crowd to meet them all. with this said walking up to the doors i automatically recognized philip outside. meeting him was something i couldnt quite put into words but the feeling was strong and so after the brief conversation i headed in to find my place to watch them perform.

actually i remember him mentioning the block concert i was running for the first time if my memory serves me correct. anyhow sitting inside connor and brian rambled on about music and obivously i was everywhere looking around. i am not at all musically inclined but i do get what music can do to ur mood. it sets a soundtrack to anything u see fit. perhaps i should correct myself on that and say that i am musically inclined. there much better.

to continue on... when the lights went low and they began there performance i was in awww. i watched philip, joe, calvin, and chris, and erin. i was in a world completely different from where i was sitting. i began to create a movie.the movie was me falling in love with the woman i was going to marry. it was so beautiful. shortly after into there second song my cell phone rang 3 times then a fourth. it was in regards to my brother and i had to leave. where we left off from the show was the beginning soundtrack to the rest of my life. i mean that completely. the drive to the hospital was so long do to traffic and fortunately everywhere connor saw a state trouper, they had someone else pulled over making my path home on the highway open to fly. that whole evening was hard. their was alot of crying and emotional outrage. it took some time with my brother to recover and when i brought my broken hearted mother home i took her jeep and just drove and cried and cried alone. 

i made a call and then went to the one person i felt so comfortable with. that would be now my bridget lajoie pearl. at the time we were just friends, but the kind of friend u could say childhood friend u grew up with next door to. i only knew her less than a year and we were just so free when were together. she comforted me that evening into the morning. we talk for hours about stuff and her father passing away. i met bridget right after her father passed away from cancer. it hit that fast, the day after halloween. i ended up leaving around 3ish and got into bed around 4am. it was a nite i still have not forgotten.

this is a story as u can see and the songs inbetween played were caspian. most of the music from the album 4 trees. through the rough and good caspian built my confidence, increased my mind to see the reality of situations for the better and heart ache that would knock on my door. i would except it to learn from it. i did many sweet things for bridget that would help her in any way or just for a quick smile, laugh. i created beautiful new art work listening to them and at night before bridget and i became a couple i would just rock out to caspian in my small little world in my bedroom. as if i knew how to play real drums or guitar. its funny because i still find myself doing that. only in a more serious manner hoping someday to play along with them on stage with their current drum solo at the end of one their new songs.

i have to say with all seriousness that caspian is a band that is so true. true in a sense that they mean what they write, they feel what they write, they all get it all and now with their 2 new members jonny and john. how they introduced them into the scene, i am completely in love with how it grew even stronger. from the original line up with calvin and chris, these grown men, philip, erin, joe, jonny, and john have such depth in creating music that to me is an art form that could be a movie. a movie that would change alot for the better in ourselves period.

i have seen them more than once now and i brought bridget to see them as well before we were married. each time has been a memory to add to my movie, now bridget's movie as well. it is our life film. the people we know that get to experience it with us means so much. to those i glance at that i dont even know, their smile shows that inside with caspian we are all free and nothing could ruin the moment. caspian is a band i plan to introduce to my first born with my beautiful wife.

i look forward to what guys of caspian create as their highway grows further and where i stand with them now, my words are simply to close. philip, joe, erin, jonny, john, calvin, chris, u are all fine grown genuine men. ur parents are proud and the friends u have made and old love u and support u. the little things in life are big and on december 4th i mattthew pearl express my love and support towards all of u. thank u for such an epic experience and more to come. december 4th i present to u; Caspian "DECEMBER'S HIGHWAY"
