Just added a new unreleased track called Miracles.  Some of you might have heard it being played at my live gigs this year.  Dubby has done a crafty desk mix of it and it should be on the new Retrospective album due out next year.

You're looking at a miracle

Current mood:  animated
Just to let you know that Toffeetones have managed to reserve a small number of copies of "This Air" on seven inch vinyl for sale on their online shop:

http://www.toffeetonesrecords.com/this-air.htm

They've had loads of requests in from people that haven't been able to make my live shows for these so it's a case of first come, first served.

Please note that they can't provide signed copies. You still have to go to the gigs to get one of these [Wink]

Talking of gigs, we're sorting out a Glasgow show as I type and a couple of London gigs are in the offing...

Watch this space!

Loads of us "muso's" are having a spot of bother with myspace at the moment.

It seems that if you ask someone who doesn't appreciate your music to be friends they can click a spam button and drop you in the doggy doo with the interweb traffic wardens.

Can you just click ignore instead please.

I resent being compared to a tin of processed pork

Lots of love,

Lou x

Just to let you know, I'm doing another interview with Dave Charles on 102.3 HFM in Leicestershire on Sunday 19th July between 7:30 and 8pm.

I'll be on my way back from the Shrewsbury album launch party (see front page for flyer) so I won't be in the studio this time.  We're doing it over the phone... wonders of modern tricknology eh?

Long term John Foxx collaborator Louis Gordon releases his solo album “E.S.T.” on 20th July 2009.....

Drawn from a diverse range of key influences, (encompassing electro/glam rock, psychedelia, techno, movies, aliens, fishing, his hometown of Manchester and his dear old dad); what first appears to be eclectic chaos, makes complete and beautiful sense as Louis presents us with a musical road-trip of teasing wit & musical intelligence.

The opening track “Stretford Meders” rips into psychedelia, playfully repeating upon itself with trademark 60s reversed guitars circling in the distance.  As this song fades into the blue "Crash That Car" smashes through your windscreen! A mechanical, laid-back, big beat beast with the seductive robotic warning “Slow down...!”  This is followed by the title track “E.S.T.” which fuses glam rock with heroic, defeated panache - an anthem for the unsung among us.  “Purple Dancer” spirals into rich endless guitar loops accompanied by fat synthetic bass and beats with the simple plea: “'dance with me”.  “Occupants” is an account of a rather odd “close encounter” delivered with a hint of Jarvis Cocker wit and a chorus that breaks into a ludicrous, yet perfectly placed Capenter-esque melody whilst “Strawberrymaggotsforever” does exactly what it says on the tin!

Louis’ recent single “This Air” dips effortlessly into deep evolving ambient techno.  Overlaid with sincere, heartfelt lyrics and a killer chorus, it is reminiscent of something from the ..Blue Nile..'s songbook and is arguably the most striking track on the album.  By contrast, “Thunderbirds Alright” propels us into orbit with an irresistible spiky acid-groove that plants itself firmly under your skin. This provides an interesting counterpoint which leads us into “With My Magic Eye”.  A guitar based drone laden mantra that take's you straight back to the swirl of ‘60s psychedelia where this album began.  Leading nicely into the album’s penultimate track, “Dance With Me” is a melancholic reprise to the plea of “Purple Dancer”.   Our final destination has now arrived and as we take our leave, we’re lamented by the romantic strings of “Mostbeautifulmanintheworld” a hauntingly moving closing theme.

The first edition of this release is presented as a special limited double CD with a splendid gatefold art pack and an additional album “The Motion Picture Event Of The Year”.  A companion piece  that perfectly extends the themes of “E.S.T”.

June 14, 2009 - Sunday
Just a quickie to let you know that the new double album "EST/The Motion Picture Event" can be pre-ordered from the toffeetones shop. It's released officially on Monday 20th July and it's limited so don't miss out...

It's not what you do... it's how you react!

Toffeetones presents the new special edition double album Electric Shock Treatment / The Motion Picture Event Of The Year from Louis Gordon, available to pre-order from Sunday 14th June at the Toffeetones Shop and released officially on Monday 20th July.

A semi-autobiographical look through the magic eye of Louis Gordon.  E.S.T. takes you on an emotional road-trip of sound from hardcore electricals to trippy psychedelia and beyond.  It simply defies categorisation!

Available as a special edition, E.S.T. comes with an additional album, The Motion Picture Event Of The Year.

This companion piece takes a breathtaking journey through the eyes of a child growing up in the '70s.  Adorned with lush orchestral strings and spikey guitar/synthesiser solos, The Motion Picture perfectly extends the themes of E.S.T. and takes you places you never expected to be...
