(With apologies to SRV for the cribbed subject line...)

Hi, folks. As many of you probably know, we're flooding in Fargo, and things are a bit surreal right now. We've got so many military vehicles, helicopters, media trucks and traffic checkpoints that it feels a bit like a war zone up here.

But for now the City has ceased sandbagging efforts on the main dike on the ND side while we wait to see what the river will do. They need help in Moorhead (at Nemzek Fieldhouse, if you're local and reading this), but want most residents to stay home, to avoid more traffic complicating the evacuations on both sides of the water.

Everyone in our band is out of harm's way, though there is some concern about some of our houses and those of loved ones. We are constantly calling or messaging people we know, trying to verify that all are accounted for. So far, so good. The city of Fargo will be announcing volunteer opportunities sometime this morning...until then, we wait. The mayor and governor said an hour ago that the water might be high for 8-10 days.

We're very sorry we cancelled the shows at the Fargo VFW this weekend; we always look forward to playing there and had planned a special show to boot. However, along with everyone else, we've been sandbagging, building dikes, and other tasks all week, and we just can't feel comfortable playing music insetad of pitching in to help with the flood effort. It's hard to miss out on a chance to play for you all again, but we think this is the right thing to do. Look for a rescheduled show in the next few weeks, which will be a benefit show for local flood victims.

Also, we really want to thank everyone who's sent us a message of support; it means a lot to us, though we're sorry we can't always be more timely in letting you know that. We hope you understand!

We're takin' a well-deserved break this week after our kick-ass Halloween shows last weekend, but we just wanted to keep y'all up to date on _next_ week's happenins... Thursday, Nov. 13* - The Aquarium, Fargo, ND Friday, Nov. 14*- The Eagles Lounge, Aberdeen, SD Saturday, Nov. 15- The Brass Rail, Jamestown, ND * featuring guest bassist Mississippi Thunderlobes Hope to see y'all at one or all of 'em!

Folks, we're headin' back into the studio tomorrow for awhile...we will still be doin' some shows (June is especially heavy, in fact) as well, and trying to keep our toes in both mindsets. Once again, our pal Big City McDickerson is behind the board, engineering our sessions at Media Arts Studios, right here in increasingly lovely Fargo, ND.

Some of y'all might remember that we did do a bit of recordin' back in February; those tunes are roughly half-done, and we wanted to go in and track some more, partially because we have so dang many songs that haven't been properly recorded before, and partly because we've been writin' so many new ones lately, several of which lead in some real interesting directions.

We figure havin' more songs to choose from is going to give us the opportunity to make our second CD even better, and we think you'll agree when you hear this stuff. Come out to a show sometime soon and catch some of the new songs!

Yo, folks...thanks for reading our blog. Yep, we're goin' through a lot of changes right now: our buddy Jethro "New Money" Fink is striking out on his own, puttin' together a new band and recordin' hisself a solo record, and we wish him all the best of luck, and hope that y'all will come support him when the new band starts kickin' up some dust.

Also, the five remaining Legionnaires are preparing for the beginning of our second studio CD; we will be working with our ol' pal (and occasional fill-in drummer), Big City McDickerson as engineer, with the band self-producing. We have more than 50 unrecorded original songs, and we're tryin' hard to whittle the list down for the next disc...songs that don't make the cut will certainly be kept for future release or possible re-recording, so don't be too bummed if your favorite doesn't get on the CD...we plan to record lots more in the near future!

So we've got some shows comin' up (like the Aquarium on Jan. 26th, and the Crosstown Lounge in Grand Forks the weekend of February 22-23), and of course, we do plan to play more shows for y'all this spring, so keep checking back on one of our sites. But in between, we'll be trying to put a high-gloss sheen on some of our rowdy new songs (it's like polishin' a turd! Can I get a witness?), and hope to be able to give y'all some more Legionnaires to take home sometime this summer or fall!

All right, y'all are some nice people, but judging by all the bullshit in our inbox lately, an awful lot of y'all don't seem to have a handle on yer MySpace account.

So I'm just sayin'...consider changin' yer password on occasion, or makin' sure y'all don't post some comments that're obviously spam, and for god's sake, don't click on some dumbass ad for a Macy's gift card or some bullshit ringtone from a Panamanian company. And there ain't no Nigerian fortune, so don't be all-get-out stupid enough to click on it...comprende?

This here's shapin' up to be a great summer.

Well, here it is June already, and we got us a few shows lined up, with more to follow. Our whole band had shit-eatin' grins on all weekend after we found out we're openin' up for Shooter Jennings on the 29th!

We also got a show goin' on Friday night in Hague, North Dakota...we don't play too far west in ND, but we have a kick-ass time when we do. Plus, we're gonna kick back and do some pickin' on Saturday at the weddin' of our old bandmate Buster Cherry. A bunch of us just moved into bigger digs, and we're sellin' literally dozens of copies of our CD!

Damned if we don't live well! Come out and see some royally relaxed dudes rock yer ass clean off!

Man, I hope all y'all are plannin' on comin' out to see us rock the Nestor on Dec. 16th...we're lookin' forward to rockin' out some great tunes, playin' a few new covers y'all ain't heard before, and previewing some of the songs that'll be on our upcoming CD, "Long Time Comin'".

Y'all ain't got to be home to Momma for Christmas just yet, but y'all are out of school or off work, so why not come out and drink some beers with the band? We'll be ready for yuh. See y'all there!

for being able to do what i love to do. for having those brief moments of zen whilst rocking a crowd. for getting positive responses from the people and places we play for. for having that possibility that this might someday turn into my full-time occupation. for all of this i am thankful. it's just damn good to play music for you fine folks. :)
