Current mood:  busy
We took a second Afterburner 412B up to meet the Mastodon guys in Birmingham. Bill now runs a full stack of our cabs for all shows. It was an incredible show with bone-crushing power and these guys are truly amazing musicians. They are touring everywhere so if you get the chance, go see them. You'll be glad you did.

In response to the many inquiries we've had regarding the "ultimate" cab, we've decided to add the awesome EV speaker line to our product roster.  For those Players who want to inflict massive sonic damage to the surrounding area, we are proud to introduce our new AFTERBURNER EVM cabs.  Enjoy....but be careful where you aim it:)

Just in from Eric...

Hi Dave,

I just wanted to write to tell you, WOW! Your cabs are phenomenal! It literally does make everyone of my amps sound better. I usually keep everything between 10:00-2:00, with the treble/presence/mids higher, and the bass lower. I’ve thought it was limitations of the amps this whole time, regarding how much bass they could put out without getting farty and ugly sounding, or how much high end I needed to dial in to get the blanket off without going shrill or honkey. I was testing it out with my Splawn and Krank heads today, and it just handled the bass as high as I wanted to take it! I also didn’t need to keep my presence and treble as far up as I normally do.

I’m just amazed this whole time, I thought the amps were the ones themselves that couldn’t handle certain parts of the freq range as well. I’m really kind of questioning now all the amps I’ve been through, where I thought it was the amp, but it may have been the speaker cabinet I was using! I’ve used V30 before, along with Mesa, Framus, Krank, Marshall, etc.. cabs, so not what I consider(or used to consider) junk. I just had to write you, because I’ve never been blown away by a cab before. Build quality is obvious, but I wasn’t prepared for the sonic revelations, lol. Thanks Dave,

Sincerely,
Eric Page

From a Dealer...when asked how we compared to one of our "competitors"...

Actually we did compare it today and I have to tell you, I’m not very happy!!!!
I’m not happy with the B*gner that is :)

Many people make claims to me that seem ridiculous and most times are. Your cab is everything you said it was... it’s awesome!
It may even be too huge of a sound for some players, but I love it and I’m onboard.

thanx,

An update from W.T. Feaster...

So we just finished up our first six tracks for the new album....our producer, Michael Graham (Alanis, Goo Goo Dolls, and Weezer) couldn’t stop talking about the mach 212.....I was using an old twin reverb, and a rivera through a weber 15 and the mills 212. He told me that he had to EQ the Weber and the Jensens to get the tone I was looking for, but he said all he had to do to the mills was drop a mic in front of it.....
Needless to say the tone sounded killer comin’ from the cab...close mic’ed and room mic’ed with an old ribbon mic.

The latest letter from Jason...

Hello. My name is Jason and heres my Mills Acoustics story.

Theres a guitar shop that opened up near me not too long ago called Bluesairmen guitars. They told me about Mills cabs several times. I was skeptical at first but I finally agreed to take my rig up to the shop and hear it side by side to my old favorite cab, the marshall 1960B. I was completely blown away. I ditched my marshalls and walked out of the store with the mills cab right then and there. Now I have a full stack with Mills cabs.

The type of music we write is sort of a melodic heavy. It can get really heavy at times, and sometimes not so much. I can do everything I need to with blistering tone and beautiful sound. Its just simply amazing!

Between your cabs, my marshall jmp-1 and marshall el34 100/100 setup, I now have the elusive tone I always wanted. Im still in disbelief. I just wanted to say thanks for making these cabs. For the price, these are a steal.
Please dont EVER stop making these great cabs.

Thanks again!!!

just in from Kurios..

Hey Dave -

Tonight was our first show with the new cabs. There are, quite simply, no words to describe these things. The highs sparkle, the lows punch hard and stay tight... the character of our instruments, the nuances of our playing, and the natural color of our amps shine through in ways that have to be heard to be believed. Even the landslide of glowing testimonials fall short.

We’re thrilled, man. The idea of making such a large investment without hearing the cabs first may seem like a gamble, but what a payoff... Our bassist is eying up a 610B now :).

Thanks again, Dave. Spreading the Mills gospel is going to be a piece of cake - I can’t stop gushing about the things, and they speak pretty loud for themselves. Glad to be a part of the family.

Thanks again,
Liam

from Evergreen Terrace..

um......i know you knew i would say this, but.....thats the best cab ive ever played through.
(Stacking) my 1960 on top sounded terrible compared to the Mills. it was like putting a mcdonalds hamburger patty on top of a kobe steak.

This just in from For the Wait...

Dave these cabs are blowing our minds more and more everyday. They bringing out so much more of your true tone that we are having to re-program nearly every channel we use live ( a couple dozen each) We are having a lot of fun with the cabs and haven’t even played them live yet. Bass response is unbelievable...clarity is unsurpassed..never heard or felt tone this tight b4. I’m considering rolling my mesa cab down to the corner and hanging a sign on it "free to good home" instead of selling it. bc after using your cabs i feel guilty making someone actually spend money on anything less than a Mills Acoustics cabinet.

You are a guitar cab god!!! lol. Individual pics coming your way soon..

A cool comment from Class of Zero..

I was amazed at how much the Afterburners cut through the mix. it was pretty incredible. I have never heard the seperation on stage between all of the instuments like that before, at first it was a little weird, by the end of sound check I was so amped to play the show with this new sound. My tech came up after sound check and was just blown away, said it was the most clear guitars, with the most bone crushing low end that he has ever heard out of our live mix.
Dave, you’ve really gone and kicked some ass buddy. And I really appreciate that you cared enough about building such a great sounding cabinet, that we are really just tearing the other bands apart with the tones these sons of bitches put out.

From our buddy, Mike L...

This cabinet sounds fantastic. It really just amplifies the source without adding its own color. The speakers just come alive. Clean tones became more 3 dimensional with this cabinet. Dirty tones cut thru the mix and the low end is nice and tight. No flabby low strings anymore. I started with a Mesa Boogie Recto cab, it was very scooped sounding and the low end was flabby. I then upgraded to a Bogner 4x12, which I was told was the best cab out there. The Bogner was much better sounding than the Recto, it cut thru the mix much better, but still had a problem with the low end. The Mills cabinet took care of all of the problems, cutting thru the mix, tight low end and went an extra step by reproducing the full spectrum of the speakers range. I am hooked. My cabinet search has ended.

Rating 10

I have had this cab for about a month now and have not had any problems. It feels like its built like a tank and should last a long time.

Rating 10

Okay, I don’t know how I could give this category anything other than a 10. Prior to purchasing the cabinet I emailed Dave Mills several time asking questions about the cabinet. Dave was always prompt in returning his emails and always provided a great deal of information, not the typical short and sweet yes no answers you get from most manufactures. I purchased the cabinet directly from Mills Acoustic. Dave thought he had a 412B in stock, but it turned out that the unit was a demo unit. They worked over the weekend to get the cab ready for me and it come down to me needing it for a recording session and it would not arrive in time via standard shipping. Dave Mills delivered the cabinet personally to my studio and set it up for me so I would have it in time for the recording session. I live in Tallahassee, Florida and MILLS is in Mobile, Alabama so its over a 3 hour drive. Thats outstanding customer service. Hard to find service like that any more!

Rating 10

What more can I say, its built like a tank, it sounds awesome and the customer service is outstanding. I will be keeping this cab for a long time and I go through allot of gear trying to find the perfect sound. I would recommend this cabinet to anyone without hesitation. Thanks Dave for a great cabinet.

And another letter I received..

Amazing cabinet!! The Afterburner 412B added so much depth and growl to my sound. Right out of the box it was apparent that this cabinet has all the right stuff even without making any adjustments to the rest of my rig. I have played through just about every cabinet on the market and there isn’t even a close comparison to Mills. It’s great to see there are still companies out there paying such close attention to quality, detail and most importantly.....tone. Anyone looking for a guitar cabinet should look no further. Mills is the soon-to-be industry standard for anyone looking for true tone out of their guitar rig.

Thanks David!! Absolutely amazing!!
