Finished both screenings of COLOUR FROM THE DARK and it went amazingly well! The audiences loved it which was such a beautiful experience.

First screening:

Made up of mostly festival guests and festival-type people. The screen was bigger than most cineplex mega screens and the movie looked really epic on it. The sound was experienced like it deserved to be as well. BOOMING and scary and powerful.

Everyone loved the composition, mood, sound, acting. Unreal. In my line of work you make a really special movie once in a great while. There were even 4 women in my row (who were there with a movie called MADE IN CHINA a comedy with a funny/happy ending, couldn't be any more different than this movie, lol) who I think actually looked at the screen without their hands over their face and slumped down in their seats in fear, for about maybe 10 minutes total. Very funny to me, but the ultimate compliment for sure.

Second screening:

It was a midnight screening so I really didn't think many would show. Non of the festival people showed (they were at the fest parties) but low and behold the theater filled with local horror fans. I was shocked. Not because people came but because, unlike ever other film at the fest, COLOUR had NO posters anywhere, no flyers no postcards. Why? The movie has a German distributor who actually pushed back the DVD release of the movie so it could play at this festival. That was very cool of them. But when I had asked them for the materials to advertise it they responded that they were too busy to put anything together. I was incredibly disappointed. But God bless the amazing horror community here who sought out this film and filled the theater! I felt so appreciative and was so happy they did. They easily knew enough English to totally love the film. During the Q&A afterwards the audience told me in broken English how scary it was citing again how incredible they thought the music, story and atmosphere of the movie really got them. Fantastic.

The festival was such a great success for this film. ALL the actors, crew people, SFX people, musicians, everyone who did ANYTHING on this film should feel so incredibly proud. I certainly did.

Bravo to director Ivan Zuccon!

After 3 planes and all kinds of turbulence I landed safely in Berman, Germany then traveled to Oldenburg for the film festival! I did the red carpet (flashing bulbs - always make sure you're laughing for no apparent reason!). We went into reception and watched the opening night film DESERT FLOWER. it was really amazing film. The whole time I running on almost no sleep for 2 days, flying pills and fighting off a terrible cold/flu like thing. Had the chills the whole time but my smile for no apparent reason was there anyway!

Today am really fighting this virus off (I hope it's not zombie related, then I might end up biting someone's scalp area). Have taken more medication today than I would even admit to my doctor! Still feel like crap. BUT... COLOUR FROM THE DARK is screening tonight at 10PM (first of two screenings here) so I am very happy and excited about that! Everyone is being great and although I am comporting myself very well I wish I felt better so I could enjoy this even more! Well if the pills, nasal spray, and cough syrup kick in I will be better for tomorrow's screening of the film. I hope so. Right now? Feel like dog shit. What a conflict. All I wanna do is lay down in a warm bed but am very excited to see the audience reaction to the film tonight! I will be very positive and KNOW the excitement will win! YES!

 *cough, cough*

More soon, must nurse this thang and prepare for the screening.

Great news comes down the pike after a long process of very hard work by director Ivan Zuccon! He worked for the last 2 years very hard. He spent about a year editing and tweaking the film COLOUR FROM THE DARK. Then he spent the last year, during the roughest cinematic climate in a very long time due to the tanking economy, getting film festivals and distributors to look at the film. We have finally come to the point of announcements regarding it's screenings and distribution. A very long road and I am extremely proud of him for all that he has gone through. Once you see the film I know you will wonder to yourself "Why on Earth would it take such a long time for a movie this good to come out?" Well regardless it did, but it is about to be unleashed on most everyone very soon!

First! It will be screening at the Film Festival Oldenburg in Germany! The site is here: http://www.filmfest-oldenburg.de/ I will be there for the entire festival from September 16th through the 20th! I am very excited for people to see this film and everybody's terrific work in this film! This is such a wonderful and prestigious film festival the German distributor delayed the DVD release till after it's screening there!

Second the film will be screened at the highly esteemed film festival the H. P. Lovecraft Film Festival in Portland, Oregon in early October! More info can be found here: www.HPLFilmFestival.com

The film has also finally secured a terrific distributor for the North American rights! It will be for sale in the US and Canada before the end of 2009 by Vanguard!

As it is released in other countries I will keep you updated...

Love to all and remember keep the faith!

Hey Folks

Been writing bits and pieces on my book for a while, have written lotsa magazine articles and now I am writing my first script. I have such an amazing story but this is the first time I am writing dialogue. Should be interesting! I am very excited about this. I never knew if writing a script would be something I would NOT look forward to, or be excited about. But I guess it is something that engages me in a good way! Must be because I have a very positive, excited feeling about it. It helps that I have a story I am really, really into. I don't know if it would be as enjoyable looking at a blank piece of paper with no ideas waiting for the idea fairy to come and visit, dumping either a genius idea or a lump of shit in your mind and on your paper.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder I guess...!

have a great day everyone...
