An update after a few months use...
Nearly all good. Has remained waterproof, no re-proofs needed yet (although you wouldn't expect to). It's good on and off the bike. Seems much more resistant to dirt than most fabrics. Got splattered with Dalby mud the other day, the sort you'd think might not come out in the washing machine, and it just didn't soak in.
In fact, the only downside I can think of is that I could do with the arms being slightly longer. But this isn't a major thing, it doesn't put me off picking it up.

New Paramo waterproof, 1st one that's not too hot for biking. So far it's all good - best worn with just a base layer, with all the vents closed it's warm, open the vents and it cools down enough not to have to remove it.
Best of all with Paramo stuff, the waterproofing never wears out, as there's no membrane. The layering system does the waterproofing, and you just reproof it with Nikwax every so often. Because there's no membrane, you can reproof it indefinitely, so they work out reasonable value. Also, they're the most breathable outdoor waterproofs you can buy.
Only problem is that it replaced an Endura eVent jacket that was lost at Dalby...

Running a bike skills course yesterday, which is always satisfying. Riding back to the car park, on a short stretch of tarmac we see an adder warming up on the edge of the road. Awsome! The first (live) one I've ever seen. Must admit the thought crossed my mind to pick it up, I used to keep some non-venomous rat snakes, and I did have bike gloves on! But I resisted and it headed off at great speed into the undergrowth, hissing as loudly as it could manage.

A quick local blast with a friend this evening - bit of tarmac, bit of local woodland, bit of bridleway, nice scenery, good company.
Nothing testing, but variety keeps things fresh.
...so grab the MTB, get out of the house & see where it takes you, it'll do you good.
