The latest act on Fort Knox Recordings, Nappy Riddem, is the Ragga-psychodelic funk project comprised of producer/DJ Rex Riddem, Fort Knox Five & Thunderball vocalist Mustafa Akbar, and Thievery Corporation Bassist Ashish ‘Hash’ Vyas.

Nappy Riddem is the first single from their upcoming album One World Sovereignty, due out late 2009 on Fort Knox Recordings, features guest appearances from Asheru (the Unspoken Heard, Guerilla Arts Inc), The Unkown, and other live instrumentalists from Fort Knox Five, Thunderball, and Thievery Corporation camps. Inspired by the late James Brown, Nappy Riddem is a sonic journey into the psychodelic funk realm. Horny horns Super Soul Vocals, and phat guitar riffs make this a tune that will find its way into many deejays crate.

For the first single we dug in the FK vaults, and got two highly appropriate remixers. Both are no strangers to Fort Knox. The first remix was done by our old school brothers, QDUP Foundation. Their mix evokes something reminiscent of Sly & the Family Stone. Crazy synth lines and phat beats make this a serious dancefloor destroyer. The All Good Funk Alliance are some of our oldest Funk compatriots. The serve up a beats & breaks monster!! With spaced out vocal tweaks, and a serious breakdown, this tune is a surefire primetime burner.
