Period war drama 'Atonement' starring Keira Knightly and James McAvoy earned seven Golden Globe nominations.  The New York Times cites the expansion of the best dramatic  picture competition, as a way the Hollywood Foreign Press, "spread the love", to include seven films instead of the usual five.  Other nominations were "American Gangster," about a Harlem gangster; "Eastern Promises," about Russian gangsters; "There Will Be Blood," about an oil gangster; "The Great Debaters," about Texas talk champions; "Michael Clayton," about a corporate fixer; and "No Country for Old Men," about the depredations of a maniacal killer.

In the best comedy or musical category, "Charlie Wilson's War," a political satire played for laughs, picked up a nomination, one of five for the film; another went to Tom Hanks as its title character, a playboy congressman who helps finance Afghan rebels against the Soviets. Other films nominated in the category were "Across the Universe," with its Beatles-themed love story; "Hairspray," based on the big-haired musical; "Juno," about a pregnant teenager who copes; and "Sweeney Todd," about a bloody barber.

We were happy to see a small group of new comers including Ellen Page (Juno), Nikki Blonsky (Hairspray), Jason Reitman (Juno director) and Juno screenwriter Diablo Cody added to the mix.

James McAvoy has been gaining a lot of momentum after his star turn opposite Oscar Winner Forest Whitaker in 'The Last King of Scotland.'  James  is starring next year in 'Wanted' with actress Angelina  Jolie.   And if the trailer is any indication...this movie is definitely gonna blow up.  Check out some pretty cool 'bullet time special effects' in the clip after the jump. You'll notice Common also has a role in the film.

David "Becks" Beckham models white briefs and goes full-frontal in steamy underwear ads for designer Giorgio Armani.  The new sexy advertising campaign will see him on billboards in major cities such as New York, Los Angeles, London, Milan, Rome, Paris and Tokyo.

Of the campaign, Giorgio Armani said  David is truly a modern day icon in that his fame extends well beyond the realm of soccer.  And he chose Beckham because he represented "a notion of modern masculinity: as a sports hero, husband and father."  In the ads, the hot hubby of Victoria "Posh Spice" Beckham flaunts a come hither stare, flawless pecks and chiseled six-pack.  In fact, Becks physique looks so striking in the ad campaign, that some are suggesting that a bit of computer magic might have been used to enhance his body and impressive "Goldenbulge." 

According to the Daily Mail when Beckham's spokesman was asked if the images had been enhanced to give Beckham a greater appeal, he replied: "No comment." 

In comparison, when David Beckham wore similar white trunks while on vacation off Italy's Ligurian coast 18 months ago, he just did not seem to fill them as well.

Amy Winhouse has a hit song called "Rehab" that has everyone wondering where the song ends and the reality begins.  Amy was seen staggering around the streets of East End London last week wearing only a bra and jeans in the freezing cold.  The tormented rock star has had a long week with her husband Blake in jail, her UK tour cancelled and a constant battle with drugs and booze. Things have gotten so bad that her mom is making a public plea in an open letter published in News of the World. 

"I HOPE you understand why I'm writing this. We have spoken recently but many people will wonder why I haven't run down to whatever hotel you're staying in, scooped you up and taken you home for a hot bath and a steaming bowl of chicken soup. We want to help you, but we know that unless you want to be helped— unless you come to us—anything we tried would be in vain.

So this letter is my way of making sure that you know that—that all you have to do is come to us, Amy, and we'll do everything in our power to get you well again. After all, you are still my baby and you always will be."
