walk to houses of parliment to campaign against climate change, and what should be done to prevent it.. the blue 'wave' is symbolic (I think) of a flood of water if (or indeed when) the ice caps melt.
the event is taking place 5th Dec 2009, more info at http://www.the-wave.org.uk

thanks if you've come to one of the warm up gigs, they've all been fun in their seperate ways, my first piano solo gig, and 2 sets with PJ on djembay at cafe tarifa.  last night was also probably the most fun gig I've played for a long long time :)

I wont bore you with meaninless nonesense this time as I don't feel blogs have been a strong point for me.. but I would say the less you know the more there is to find out.

next gig 20th December, Jericho Tavern winter warmer festival 3pm

Magic. I love all the quirky shops in oxford, and it's a pleasure to play at the magic cafe once more. arriving early i had to stop off at the big fish bowl next door to admire the little and not so little fish. today i'm going to attempt a few songs on piano.. When my heart skips a beat, slow down, is it greener and i love you are songs i haven't played in quite some time.. So it'll be exciting for me to see if they still work! i have the start of halftermitis, which is a bit rubbish.. At the moment my throat is sore and i feel tired.. But not bad enough not to play. in fact the place is filling up know so i better stop typing and tune my guitar!

Greenbelt ....

For those who have never been Greenbelt is a Christian rooted festival based in Cheltenham.  It was great to go and here are my tweets from the best bits : ....

How can someone relate to more.. Or even less dimentions? #gb09....

Have to budget now as almost run out of honk #gb09 @greenbelt....

'What every artist must lean is that even the failed pieces are essential' #gb09....

'It makes all the difference to know there's someone screaming alongside you' #gb09....

Just listened to talk on borderless church and now going to big top :) #gb09 @greenbelt....

Although there was a lot of good music, I spend my life in music so the talks were the best bit for me.. The interesting concept of how to explain something 3D to someone living in 2D land..  and perhaps the lack of understanding both worlds have for each other.

I like the concept of it making a difference to have someone screaming alongside you.  I’m often in the mindset that problems have solutions, but often they don’t .. and often it’s screaming alongside someone with empathy that is the solution or at least the relief and resolution.  Also in this talk “raindrops like stars” I feel the point that there’s more to be learnt from someone who’s gone through a bad experience, and someone who is seemingly stable and happy has a lot to learn.  Also tying in with superficial

One point that related to me personally was, 'What every artist must lean is that even the failed pieces are essential', this has stumped me for a while (if you read my girl blog).. and the self induced writers block, verging on perfectionism which restricts even the start of creativity is something I’m working on to stop.  Having written what I would consider to be some good songs, I think it’s a necessary process to allow yourself to write medioca songs in order to achieve good and hopefully great songs again.....

The idea of borderless church also was a good topic.  Although obviously linked very strongly to faith and God (who you may or may not believe in).. the community aspect of church which is often lost is in my opinion the most important aspect.  The week before I went to Green Man festival.. which I have to say is probably the best environment I’ve ever been in.  was that community?  It seems a shame that festivals seem to be the only places where it exists so strongly.....

The other talk I found interesting was a guy who was trying to get new words into the dictionary.. ‘Honk’ was my favourite.. meaning a slang words ‘money’.  I will try and use that, as should you to get it accepted into our language!....

Music wise The Follys is sadly coming to an end, it’s a number of reasons which have made this the main option and our final big gig is tomorrow (thurs 3 September 2009) headlining the Bullingdon Arms in Oxford.  I hope some of you can make it.  I’ll put a blog on the band page when that’s done I think.....

....................

Hey,

It’s not all fun and games you know.. tweeting and status updating, not to mention list update’s cancellations and re-booking.. it may look clean bit it’s DIRTYYY I tell you, every time needing a tweek or three.. like a room, you should leave you bed tidy so you can lie down when you’re tired.. am I tired??

Well that out the way.. I have put up My Girl tracks.. some of you will have never heard of My Girl, but I passed my Degree on that album a few years ago, and it’s about time they got an airing without getting swamped by the old Guiding Star and Follys success…

They aren’t happy songs really.. but that wasn’t really the point in them.. I do write happy stuff occasionally but less frequently.  I tend now to stop myself writing anything negative and therefore create a kind of self induced writers block, for fear of being criticised for being depressing.  I’d love it if someone were to listen to all my songs and say.. that’s good... that’s crap.. and that one is amazing.. but unfortunately everyones different.  There is no successful song, only ones you like and ones you don’t… oh and one which means something to the writer, and hopefully the listener….

Tripped was my first proper string arrangement, and Do you miss me? Was my first ‘real’ acoustic song..  crying in silence.. well you can guess what that’s about.  But they all have meaning to me, and hopefully you can enjoy listening to them.  Do comment, or even buy an older CD from the trevwilliams.co.uk site!  who knows I may even create a ‘best of’ compilation before too long… I may put a HELP NEEDED add up to sift through the crap in search of gems.. not so easy when you’ve written literally hundreds of songs.. anyway this is a blog… a rant.. a ramble.. and I hope you enjoy listening to the tracks, and come to a gig.. and buy a CD (did I mention that?)..

Things to do.. Get Oxford Times on Thursday.. say Hi at Greenbelt..  goto Turf Tavern next Wednesday.. play acoustic.. goto Follys gig on Thur 3rd September Bullingdon Arms.. (maybe headlining!) play electric.. shout towards lights and people who come!
