Yes !!.. it is true, Hip Hop isnt dead, although for a while I wasnt sure. It got to the point where i didnt even wanna go to UK Hiphop nights, they kinda bored me- Same people- Same bars- same old shit.. and it got to the point where nights would have the same acts performing month after month as well.. like whats good with that..

BUT ....

yestarday I scooped my little cousin and we went to END OF THE WEAK @ Rhythm Factory and it was actually ILL, it had the old Speakers Corner Vibe to it which I thought would be hard to re-create anywhere other than.. Speakers Corner.. but I was feeling it. End of the Weak ( http://www.endoftheweak.com / http://www.myspace.com/endoftheweakuk ) started in the US and has held about 40 Mc Challenges to date but over the last couple of years,Dj Snuff and the Speakers Corner/Merciless fam have been running the same Mc Challenge on this side of the pond at the same time as it branching out all over europe.  End of the Weak is not your average MC contest( for those of u who dont know), it consists of several, well constructed and somewhat complex rounds in which the judges get to see the MC's true ability.

 

My favourite round has got to be the 'grab bag freestyle' round in which the MC has to grab a random object out of the bag and manage to freestyle about it without sounding like a complete fool..i was quite surprised at how they held it down really..

So ANYWAYS.. 'Archaic' won yestardays heat and will now be included in the final which i think is in September..The other highlights of yestardays EOW were the performances i managed to catch...Lowkey and Logic (AKA . NWO) performed and were as on point and heavy hittin as always and although i've heard it pure times, Lowkeys dub over Nas' Hip Hop is Dead is so true- theres a bag of talent and hunger over here in the UK but its almost as if heads prematurely killed it with negativity and lack of support for UK acts, HOWEVER last night @ EOW HipHop truly felt alive and kicking and Im glad..

So.. big up to Snuff, Stig,all the MC's and everyone involved in END OF THE WEAK.. and if you have not yet checked it out.. U definatley should.

Whats good e'body... I'm not sure if u heard it already but spoken word artist Kamal Imani wrote a piece called  'Revolutionary Diva' and dedicated it to me and Diva Spark for our HERSTORY mixtape..Well... I was maaaaaaaad honored to have such a prestigious gifted artist show me so much looooove..If you havent heard the track..peep the video below or on YOUTUBE.. i'm hoping Kamal will be making his way over here this year, so we can do some performances together..If you havent already.. check him out.. he's in my top friends and his work is some of the most inspiring and thought provoking... Peace and Blessings to one and all..

You know, in life i feel that you have many moments.. just short periods of time where it all becomes clear to you, i believe that the most high does this to save our sanity and keep us striving for what we dream and aspire to be.

Yestarday i was on the train and this little boy kept looking at me and smiling so I did the 'Hello' thing and waved at him.. he was with his mother,a dark skinned lady with a soft face and dreads and his sister who was probably a couple years his junior.. Then his mother said 'Say hello to the Lady' a simple thing to say, i mean.. i say it to Dante and Imani all the time cos they r a bit stush certain times when people make gestures and try be friendly with them in public.
And the lil boy said 'Hello Lady' .. that got me thinking..

Am I a lady?
What is a lady ?
When did i become a lady from a girl ? or a chick?
Is a lady just a label or something that is assumed ?

When you think of it, a Lady is not a woman.. nor is a woman nessesarily(i kno i spelt it wrong) a lady because so many of us walk through life unaware of our purpose (me included.. i aint tryna patronise) unaware of our true core and reason for existence.. caught up in material and exterior values and missing what really means something..

When the little boy said 'Hello Lady' I kinda giggled and smiled as if someone had told me something i didnt know, or as if the little boy had called me the wrong name, but when i thought of it, he hadnt.. I am a lady, I am a woman, I am a female, I am sista, I am a bitch (sometimes-sorry to all those who have seen that side of me) but the most important realisation i came to is, I am whoever I WANT to be but if i settle for less and stop at chick/girl- Will I ever elevate ?

Theres some maaaaad questions in there.. if ur wit me, and u feel my angle feel free to comment and let me know.. and this blog aint only for sisters.. the brothers can get involved too.. Because i feel that a lot of sisters will let a brother be the person who decides what and who they are.. as important and amazing as a brother can be .. I dont believe he should be the one to decide this... its within you..

So thats it from me.. Lemme know what u think, opinons of any sort..

Whats goodie?? I havent blogged for a hot minute so i thought i'd keep u lot posted n wuteva..

Whats with the rain maaaaaaaan?.. its sum depressin shyt, im sat in my yard, with the heating on full, weighing up the pro's and cons of going anywhere today.. its nuts.. Might get lost in lyrics instead-I've definatley got a lot to say right now, thanks to a certain someone..

The last couple of weeks have been a bit crazy,a mixture of pain, love, spontanaety,depression, hype and sorrow-but i guess we all take trips like that sometimes and whatever doesnt kill you, can only aid your development and help you strive towards knowledge of self.. sometimes i still wonder why its gotta be like that..and every now and again i wish i was a bubblehead more concerned with material endeavours and kept only brief contact with my emotions.. i feel sometimes people in that position are better off... I dunno. How are you all feeling tho ?

Been working mad hours, in order to P up and invest in what i really want to do..Been writing too, and hoping to drop a little mixtape before my album, a lot of other heavy things are jumping off with my Vi & LCM fam.. big moves always... its time for the UK to step up there game and create there own hype.. an indivudual energized remix kinda hype cos shits beginning to bore me right now...lets push things forward ?!!! (in the wise words of mike skinner)

My godson Dante started school a few weeks back, he's doing good(looks mad cute in his uniform too), been spending a lot of time with him,his lil brother and my cousin, gotta keep family strong and make plans.. Plans and future thinking is the only thing keeping me sane right now its nuts..So yeh big up my cousin Nekema for keeping at it and staying strong and focussed..Love ya gurl..Also shouts to Skandal.. the mic vandal.. My brother he's coming SEEERIOUS and is gonna take over this UK shit, remember i told you.. Its been good to be around u again fam and the inspiration you give to me is unforgetable.. MWAH!

Theres been more pain and suffering in the ends.. last week we lost yet another life to the gun,I question on a daily when these ignorant lost individuals are going to wake up and realise that they are not god to be taking lifes and reigning terror in the hood.. theres no truth in that, no real respect cos the respect is not your own.. it belongs to whatever ur armed with.. as soon as your back is turned dont fink someone aint gonna try and end you too..Anyone who knows someone with a strap needs to drop some knowledge on them, try and make them see the sense from the madness, we're in some fucked up place as it is, dont kill your own for nothing... Call me a hippy or watever, but im for Peace always..feel me..

I hope your family and friends mourn in peace and celebrate the essence of your charecter..

Robel was shot last tuesday, in Studley-Stockwell--The attack was un-prevoked and Robel was pronounced dead on arrival to the scene.. One of my best friends (Robels cousin) said he was due to start University this week and was willing to put his all in to achieve something..This wasnt a wide spread story such as that of  white care worker Magda Pniewska who was shot dead in new cross last week, this story was also tragic and I pray she also rests in peace as she was also an innocent victim of the gun, however she got countrywide news coverage and the front page of most papers, where as Robel made it to the South London press and London tonight.. WHO DECIDES WHICH MURDER GETS PRIORITY?... it gets me vex..I dont like to throw race cards around.. but  seriously..All that aside.. life is lost again so take a moment to remember all of the other fallen souljahs..*feel free to add comments of names*

Saw my mummy on sunday and it was nice to have all the family ova in my lil flat..I made curry chicken, rice and macaroni.. mmm mmm mmm i sweh thats my favourite munch right thuurrr, comes close to brown stew chicken which i ate yday (Thanks Corey) I dont know where im going munching this big food at the moment cos i've been gymmin' it hard recentley.. tryna slim it down a bit.. gonna end up hench instead-but  its always positive to build with your family, if its gotta be over food.. then oh well!, it aint dun enuff no more..

Whats gooooooodie everyone?.. Its meee, umm thats kinda obvious.Havent blogged it out for a while.. **nu dance BLOG IT OUT** Written some new poems too so i might put some up soon..

Anyways the main reason i write this blog is that i noticed im fast approaching 25,000 views (AH MEEEE DAT) and thats big..Maybe not as big as some.. but bigger than many and im really grateful for all the support and inspiration i've receieved on this myspace tingy ting  Also to all the weird and wonderful people from all over the globe who have taken time to holla and bring a variety of different vibes to the table..

As many of you probably already know I am no longer working with Diva Spark, Since the release of 'HERstory Vol 1' our paths have taken different routes,and as much as I value the experience and have nuff love for Diva...Its jus me now.. So watch this space for my first solo project- and i wish Diva the best for her future projects and plans..

I'm working alongside the Vivid Imagery Camp right now.. for those of you who dont already know, they are the clique behind KASHA.. (Check him out in my top friends)the brother is seriously gifted and i feel privaledged to be working alongside such focussed individuals who possess such passion and dedication for music..Its definatley refreshing... so yeh i know i've been sleeping on music for a minute to get my mind right but you can expect plenty more from me.. soon ..

Hmmmmm... other than that, im on my 6-6 grind.. tryna stack this cheeeeeeez, to make stuff happen... but the night shifts are maaaaaaad... and I miss out on important shyt sometimes but i guess without sacrifice what is anything worth ?

Been going through the motions this past few months with my heart, my life, my beliefs, family and health but Im content in the understanding that there is a higher purpose in everything that enters and leaves my existence and i feel once you get there you find peace in yourself.. Me and my cousin have got a lot closer these past few months and its been really beautiful to see my god children regularly and watch them flourish and develop into crazy young men..as well as building a bond with my cousin and manifest our dreams into reality...(LOVE YA CUZZIE..if ur reading this)..

Another thing i've been heavily involved with is BAMPOT (Also in my top friends) which is a monthly Open Mic night which i host and help to organise alongside a sister called Maz... the nights been going almost a year now and its been a learning process to say the least, however i feel a genuine good vibe everytime i step in the door and the fact that it provides a free platform for up and coming artists can only be a positive thing... The flyers on my page and its FREEEEEEE..so come on down..

AAAAH.. Its only 10.30, the nights going slow.. jus went shop with my colleague and caught sum jokes while stocking up on my munch for the night, ive been tryna eat a bit healthier but it jus flops as soon as i get back here.. MONSTER MUNCH/ MIKE N IKE SWEETIES are tha tiiing..managed to not get chirpsed on my walk to the shop tonight tho, which is a turn up for the books.. there was sum hungry looking monstrosities on road tho !...lol

Anyhooooo.... Im waffling now.. so im gonna wrap this up.. but comment me back... let me know what u all been up to and how summers been so far ??..

Also...BEFORE I DUCK... to those people moaning about top friends, stop being silly, Top friends is HTML.. not my heart u feel me ??... My husband isnt even in my top friends ?? (ummm not that i have one or anything but yeh) my mums not even in there and i love her more than all y'all !! but yeh... stop moaning at me, cos i dont like moaning.. i like happy people.. like

The night filled with serenity
sits heavenley

The complex simplicity intrigues me

I'm writing about a serious matter.. after three days of attempted shopping for a nice 'FEMININE' jacket (I got enuff hoodies) i'm pissed !.. All of the arms seem to be TOO short, like, do i have abnormally long arms ? on sum monkey flex ?... or are they just tryna save money and making jackets for midgets ?..

Please help !!.. lemme know how long ur arms are?.... if u dont have a tape measure.. measure them with a common thing like a pen..
Mine are -from shoulder to wrist- 51cm/4 pens.. is that normal ?

Anyways... like they say, a problem shared is a problem halved and i feel much better now..

Peace Peoples..Jus a little blog for certain people who've been enjoying chattin inaccurate,vicious,false talk about me(So if thats not u, theres no need to continue).. Keep on,Keepin on-Keep my name IN your mouth.. after all 'Theres no such thing as bad publicity' right ? a whole heap of ASSUMPTION has been gwaning, whatever happened to the old fashioned way of doing things-ie:Askin the person whats actually going on, rather than chattin doo doo about them..
But its cool,I know who's authentic and who's not-its jus a matter of sievin' y'all out!
